As much as we love Texas craft beer, our day jobs must go on but fear not, we are still here and spreading the craft beer gospel. This week, we talk about a chance to invest in a breweries expansion, we talk about Texas’ oldest craft brewery celebrating 22, we talk about a new brewery debuting soon in Austin, and give you the heads up about a great beer festival taking place in north Texas. Check it out now in this weeks edition of, The Brew!

San Marcos – After 5yrs, Austin based Hops & Grain have reached maxed capacity at their current facility and now they are looking to build out a second location in San Marcos. They setup a page on WeFunder to raise $100K to assist them with raising the necessary capital for the new location and when the buzz started this afternoon they broke well over their $100K goal. No word yet on when we can expect to see the new brewery but it looks like all signs are go for the band of  Austin/San Marcos brewers. Hops and Grain, founded by Josh Hare in 2011, launched the brewery with Alt Eration and Pale Dog but over the years they have expanded their line up and have won prestigious awards for their beers. The new brewery and tap room will be located in San Marcos near the Texas State University which will be a great stop when heading down to float the river. The WeFunder page is still active and they are still taking investments for those that are looking to become investors for a great Texas brewery. Click here for more info.

Oskar Blues

Austin – Colorado based Oskar Blues are getting that much closer to finally opening their Austin brewery to the public. Last week, the brewing team started their first batch at the new facility and soon fresh Oskar Blues beers will be flowing across the state. The first beer that was brewed at the new location was Dales Pale Ale and the rest of the lineup will be brewed soon. This month, Oskar Blues released their newest beer Priscilla which is a 5.2% ABV American Wit. It is a very smooth a citrus forward take on a Belgian Wit with banana and clove on the nose. Priscilla will be just what you need to get you through the brutal Texas summer heat. Much like their headquarters in Colorado, Oskar Blues will work to bring live music to the brewery to interact with Austin’s rich music scene. No word yet on an official grand opening yet but you know that we will pass it along as soon as we hear.

untapped

Fort Worth – It is that time again, Untapped Festival is invading Ft. Worth once again for an amazing day of craft beer and live music. This year they will host over 80 breweries bringing over 300 different beers to try. Of course, the music choice this year is solid with Built to Spill, Hayes Carll and Grupo Fantasma taking the top performing spots at this years festival. The festival takes place on Saturday from 3:30pm (2:30pm for VIP) till 10:30pm at Panther Island Pavilion. Tickets are still available to get yours now before it is too late.
