I have two confessions to make. First, I am Vi Keeland addict. Second, forgive me romance book world, I have sinned and fallen in love with Professor Caine West. Yes, I am torn in who is my favorite Vi Keeland hero. I just can’t pick one because Professor Caine West has sung all the right notes when it came to winning my heart. There is no mistaking about it Beautiful Mistake will have readers swooning and singing the praise of Vi Keeland.

Beautiful Mistake is an utterly spellbinding symphony of sweet, sexy, sophisticated and swoonworthy romance. This book had my attention right off the opening pages which is no surprise since Vi has always held me hostage with her smart, sassy, and sexy writing and charasmatic characters. Right away, Vi introduces her readers to a feisty, sassy, and spirited heroine who has no qualms of making her presence known. When Rachel Martin accidentally goes off on a guy mistaking him for the guy who broke her friend’s heart, she didn’t think she would ever see him again. Well as fate as it would have it, the stranger turns out to be Professor Caine West.

Maybe I couldn’t get you out of my head because you’re supposed to be there. ”

Rachel Martin is a graduate student and when one her assigned Professor passed away, she was assigned to new a professor. Little did she know, stranger guy at the bar is Professor Caine West. Since they got off on the wrong foot, Rachel immediately apologizes to him. Soon Caine and Rachel found themselves forming a friendship of some sorts even though they are both sexual attracted to one another.

Caine West is drawn to Rachel. There is just something so hypnotic and magnetic about her that he can’t stay away from her. He is well aware that he is all wrong for her since he has a torrid past of infidelity. But whenever he is with Rachel, Caine crosses that forbidden line each time he interacts with her. When Caine learns of another man pursuing Rachel, he finally makes it known to her that she consumes his thoughts and he wants her badly.

Ahhhh… yes that’s the only emotion I can come up to describe the moment when Caine and Rachel finally crossed that invisible line. Everything about this couple screamed SCORCHING HOT!!! Yes, it was magnetic, palpable, tangible, intoxicating, curl your toes romance!! Seriously, if you ever read a Vi Keeland sex scene then you are all aware this author can make you blush and swoon hard.

It was the most decadent, erotic, beautiful feeling in the world as Caine eased inside. So many emotions overwhelmed me. My eyes welled up as the music hit its crescendo and Caine buried himself deep— filling me in so many ways. I’d been on the edge of glory for so long, it didn’t take long for the throb inside of me to start. His thrusts were hard, driving in and out with powerful movements that brushed my clit on each downward glide. My world began to splinter as I headed toward climax, everything and anything falling away as my sole focus became the two of us— this moment. ”

As Caine and Rachel got to know each other on a very intimate and emotional level, readers will discover Caine has a secret that could hurt Rachel. What is this secret that could tear this couple apart? And will Rachel and Caine be able to survive it?

Beautiful Mistake is a book that you must read if you are a Vi Keeland fan. This book had everything from friendship, family, love, passion, healing, and second chances. Vi Keeland will not disappoint her readers as the writing was fantastic. Every raw emotions were beautifully blended into the storyline giving readers to feel for her characters. I absolutely adored and loved this sweet story and so I highly recommend you to go pick up this book now. The only mistake you will be making is missing the opportunity of meeting Professor Caine West.

Paperback To be honest, I'm kinda disappointed, but not really sure why..

“We all make mistakes. Life doesn’t come with instructions. Someone who loves you will forgive you for them. But when you hide them or lie about them, they’re no longer mistakes—they’re decisions.”

Beautiful Mistake is a standalone romance novel by Vi Keeland with a dual point of view. Rachel and Canie first encounters at a bar where Rachel gives him a wrongful tongue-lashing, thinking he lied and cheated on her best friend. Leaving the bar without an apology, Rachel doesn't think she'll ever see the handsome stranger again, but when she goes to work as a teaching assistent the next day, it's none other than Canie she's going to work for. Cue tension.

I put the phone away and felt eyes on me as I patiently waited, but frowning uses more facial muscles than smiling, and this jerk wasn’t worth a wrinkle.

Rachel is a sweet, smart and feisty main character who's usually late and speaks her mind even when she knows she shouldn't. It's safe to say that her flaws were definitely relatable for me. I liked her for the most parts, but found her a little clingy towards the end.
Caine on the other hand, who is compared to a greek model, is unapologetic, cocky and gruff for most of the story, and to be honest I felt rather neutral about him. Sure he's hot and good at dirty talk, and I liked that he was upfront about most things, I just didn't find him swoonworthy.
I couldn’t help myself. I was, after all, feisty. “You’re really an asshole, you know that?” Caine froze, buttoning his shirt. “I believe you’ve told me that before, so yes, I’m aware I’m really an asshole. What I’m surprised about, though, is that you don’t seem to be as aware of it as I am, yet you’re the one who likes to remind me of my asshole status.”

The blurb pretty much sums up chapter one and tells you nothing about the continuing storyline (besides the obvious love interests), which may have made me expect something different from what I got. Early on the story definitely took a turn I didn't see coming, bringing in themes like domestic violence and drug/alcohol abuse, but it was pretty clear where it was going, and I found myself wishing for a twist or a surprise that never came.
My biggest problem though- I didn't care. I was never exited to reach the climax and even though I found the characters to be likeable, I never cared about them. Perhaps it was just the wrong time to be picking up this book, and I think a lot of my goodreads friends will love Rachel and Canies story.

But in the long run, it’s better to hurt someone with the truth than make them happy with lies. Because she can make the decision to move on with the truth. Lies keep you stuck in place.
Paperback

Okaaaay, it's official now. I'm seriously addicted Vi Keeland's books!!! :D Story, chemisty and the humor between Caine & Rachel was soooooo good! One time I was laughing and the other minute I was swooning over Caine. :D Damn, this woman always makes me happy with her amazing male characters. :P

If you haven't read any books of hers yet, trust me you definitely should give a chance. You're missing too much!!! ;)

Ps. I've really enjoyed this book too but BOSSMAN is still my all time favorite book of Vi. Nobody can't beat my Chase Parker. ;)

This was going to be interesting… Beautiful Mistake

Beautiful

“This feels… right.”
His eyes searched mine. “It does. As much as I fought it, and it’s against every rule at work, nothing’s felt this right in a long time. Maybe I couldn’t get you out of my head because you were supposed to be there.”

HOLY SQUEEEEEE!!!!! I LOVE LOVE LOVED this book!! It was HOT, SEXY, SWOOOOONY, and yet also FULL OF FEELS!! When I first started reading it, I was completely enjoying it - I felt totally wrapped up the story and was loving everything I was reading. But then came... an unexpected TWIST!!! One part of the story connected with another in a way that I didn't see coming and OH MY GOD from that point on, I COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN!!!! I was flipping those pages so fast I barely stopped to breath! I smiled, swooned, and got choked up with emotion. And the epilogue brought happy tears to my eyes. I've loved many of Vi Keeland's books over this years but I can say with full certainty that this is my favorite book she's written! I highly recommend it as a TOP FAVORITE!!

Vi Keeland is one of my go-to authors. I always look forward to her new book releases because after having read so many of her books, I know that I'm almost certainly going to love them. In fact, when I first started reading this book, I got to chapter three because realizing that I hadn't even read the blurb — which is a pretty big deal for me because as a reader, I like to know exactly what I get into. There is a very small selection of authors whose books I'll read without even finding out what they're about first and I guess Vi Keeland just became one of them!

I think the best way to describe exactly why I love her writing is because it's effortless. You don't feel like she's trying to hard, but you can tell that the book is both well written and edited. The story flows smoothly and there are generally no good stopping points. Her books are easy to read and yet carry a wonderful balance of sexiness, humor, and emotion. They're both light-hearted and yet grounded by serious feels. I usually find her heroine's relatable and her heroes dreamy but characterized in a way that makes them feel believably real. For all these reasons, she's easily one of my favorite romance authors and I'm always excited to read her new books.

Anyways, I'm rambling. Here's what this book is about:

The first time I met Caine West was in a bar.
He noticed me looking his way and mistakenly read my scowling as checking him out.
When he attempted to talk to me, I set him straight—telling him what I thought of his lying, cheating, egomaniacal ass.
You see, the gorgeous jerk had wined and dined my best friend--smooth talking her into his bed, all along failing to mention that he was married.
He deserved every bit of my tongue-lashing and more for what he'd done.
Especially when that lazy smile graced his perfect face in response to my rant.
Only it turned out, the man I'd just told off wasn't the right guy.
Oops. My mistake.
Embarrassed, I slunk out without an apology.
I was never going to see the handsome stranger again anyway, right?
That’s what I thought…until I walked into class the next morning.
Well, hello Professor West, I’m your new teaching assistant.
I’ll be working under you…figuratively speaking.
Although the literal interpretation might not be such a bad thing—working under Professor West.
This was going to be interesting…

So of course this story starts off with the heroine being shocked to discover that the mystery man who she mistakenly gave a tongue lashing to in a bar was actually her new boss/professor. But her first real surprise came when she dug into his past and discovered that he used to have a different name and a whole other life before becoming the sexy, yet infuriating, professor she was now swooning over.

“You didn’t answer my question. How old are you?”
“Old enough to be your professor.”
… “So, what? About sixty then?”
“I’m thirty-two, wiseass. Are you happy?”
I smiled. “I am, actually.”
He slipped his glasses back on and returned to the menu.
I leaned in. “You don’t look a day over thirty-one.”
He shook his head and continued reading, but I caught the corner of his lip twitch.

Their attraction to each other was however tempered at first by the professional lines between them. She was his TA and he was her professor. There were rules in place and somehow things kept pulling them apart. But even though they both knew they shouldn't give in, they desperately wanted to.

When I looked up, he was staring at me. “Christ. Are you trying to get me fired?”
“What?”
His eyes moved back and forth between mine. “You really have no goddamn clue, do you?”

And OHHH MY PROFESSOR WEST!! When their chemistry did finally reach a breaking point, let me just tell you that things got HOT HOT HOT! Any of you looking for a steamy sexy romance will certainly not be disappointed!

“Don’t ask for something you don’t want. I’m warming you.” He took a step closer, invading my personal space.
His pupils were dilated, and he looked angry as hell, but there was something lurking just beneath his dark gaze — desire.
I tilted my head coyly and leaned in. “Who says I don’t want it?”

I also loved the deeper and more emotional undertones to the story that tugged all my heartstrings and brought a wonderful balance to the otherwise lighter side of this romance.

“Do you have any scars?”
“No visible ones,” he said. “Although the invisible scars are the hardest to heal.”

And then.... OMGGGGG!!! There is a TWIST to this story!! Ok wait, I need to back up for a minute. And don't worry, I won't spoil anything. So, as you read, you'll see the story is mostly told in present day and it's about Caine and Rachel's story. But there are a few other chapters mixed in from Caine's past sixteen years ago that are painful and heart-wrenching and real show you a whole other side to this character. Now, I thought they were just there to flesh out the story and all, BUTTTTTTTTT. There's a twist. A connection. A holy-shit-omg moment. And that's all I'm going to say on the matter because I don't want to take away YOUR surprise moment when you read the book. But just damnnn I didn't see it coming and I LOVED the extra depth it gave the story. I literally got chills and could not put the book down from that point on!!!

Fuck!
FUUUUCK!
… I closed my eyes and let my head spin some more.
How do I find out?
How do I find out?

This is definitely one of those books I want to make everyone read because I'm so excited to see their reactions to the story too! It's like one of those books you want to tell your friends to read and keep you posted as they're reading so you can experience their reactions too.

He read my goofy smile. “What?”
“This feels… right.”
His eyes searched mine. “It does. As much as I fought it, and it’s against every rule at work, nothing’s felt this right in a long time. Maybe I couldn’t get you out of my head because you were supposed to be there.”

Now, this is the seventh book I've read by this author so I'm speaking with some background here when I say that, in my opinion, this is Vi Keeland's best book yet!! It was a truly fantastic read and definitely one of my top favorites of the year! I highly recommend this to everyone looking for an amazing book to fall in love with!

Paperback Dear Professor Caine West,

Alright folks, Beautiful Mistake was a surprise (a 4.5 stars surprise). I expected the angst. I expected the SIZZLING HOT chemistry, and the wicked professor. I did not expect the emotions; the intensity; the heaviness that settled in my chest. The combination of a wonderfully fleshed out heroine, a tortured former rock star and their slow-burning romance kept me glued to my couch until I finished it, butt hurting and lungs gasping for air. It was lovely.

All in all, it's good. Read it.

P.S. Special thanks to Mar for the recommendation. I enjoyed it so much that I forgive you for being the reason I was dehydrated due to excessive drooling. Paperback *****FOUR STARS*****

”You’re that song, I don’t know any of the words, but the tune is so damn familiar.”
I understood what he meant. I’d felt a connection from the first time we met, too. I didn’t want to scare him, but whatever was between us had always felt bigger than me—bigger than us.

Readers be warned, Vi Keeland’s latest standalone will have your temperatures rising to dangerous levels because of the scorching hot steam that the two main characters generate whenever they are together! Get ready to be dazzled by the decadently handsome and dirty talking Caine West. This man is a sexy Professor with an insatiable libido and has sexual skills that rival that of Christian Grey’s!

Rachel Martin is a grad student who is studying for her masters in musical therapy at Brooklyn College. She works part time at a local bar to help pay for her tuition. Her best friend also works at the bar and one night after their shifts are over, her bestie’s ex, who turned out to be a douche since he conveniently forgot to mention that he was married, shows up at the bar and tries to make the moves on Rachel. She gives him a verbal lashing only to be mortified later on when her friend confirms that the guy she cursed out was not the ex-boyfriend. It seems that fate is playing a cruel trick on her because the next day she meets the Professor that she is to be a TA for and it’s none other than Mr. Hottie from the bar.

Caine West has lived quite an exciting life. He used to be the drummer in a famous boy band but a few years later they went their separate ways when the lead singer became addicted to drugs. Now at thirty-one he is one of the most despised and feared professors at Brooklyn College, known for his moodiness and zero tolerance for lateness. When Rachel appears in his class it is both a blessing and a curse for Caine. He can’t deny the insane attraction between them and for some strange reason, which he noted when they met at the bar, Rachel seems so familiar to him. But this new development is a problem for him because he does not get romantically involved with students or TA’s. He tried it once before and it ended terribly.

The chemistry between them is just too intense and Caine can’t get enough of Rachel’s fiery attitude. Waiting for these two to give in to their growing lust for each other was almost beyond agonizing for me. I found myself getting irritated with Caine every time he would lose control with Rachel but then quickly put on the brakes the next day. It was seriously maddening.

The story is told through alternating POVs which also included several chapters from Caine’s past which could end up destroying the couple’s chance at an HEA before they even get started.

Vi Keeland fans and those who have never read any of her books will absolutely enjoy BEAUTIFUL MISTAKE. Caine West will be responsible for melting quite a few hearts!

Paperback Another desperate needy female without much backbone and pride.

Typical male protagonist - anti-commintment manho with little morals.

Nothing new in CR.

Well, but how do I feel about violation of confessional seal..., or better said violation of sacredness of confession?

My rating is the answer. Paperback 4 Beautiful Stars!

(I buddyread this book with my lovely bookish friends Bea, Rachmi, and Felita. Click their names to view their lovely reviews/thoughts.)

There's more to Beautiful Mistake than meets the eye. Although it was light-hearted and there were scenes that made me laugh, it also had an adequate amount of drama that pulled my heart into so many directions. What I loved most about this book, of course, was the substance and Vi Keeland is really famous for that.

The book begins when Rachel Martin randomly met a hot stranger at the bar that she works for, mistaking him for the guy who had an affair with her co-worker and friend Ava. Knowing that the guy deceived her friend and pretended that he's single, she naturally lashed him out. But it's too late when Ava confirmed to her that the guy she verbally attacked was actually not the one she's supposed to approach. Embarrassed, Rachel forced herself to forget her encounter with the stranger and moved on. But on her first day of school at Brooklyn College as a teaching assistant, she saw the hot stranger again and found out that he's the music Professor Caine West and he's going to be her thesis advisor.

The great characterization, beautiful writing, and established plot progression made this book a standout. I loved that Rachel and Caine's first encounter was awkward and hilarious and that the later parts of the book moved in a series of hot and dramatic scenes.

Both characters are imperfect in so many ways and they have scars from their past. These things made me appreciate how real and raw they are. Their romantic development was slow and there was a little push and pull, but I did enjoy every bit of their journey.

There was a plot twist that happened in this book and I must say, it was very well thought out. But I hate to say that it was also predictable because I already foresaw the hidden twist to the mystery and there was no more surprise when it was revealed.

Story and plot wise, Beautiful Mistake is one of Vi Keeland's best books up to date. I enjoyed a lot of her books and this one is no exception. The chemistry between the characters, the drama, the hot and sizzling romance-- they're enough to overdose you from the swooning!

“You've always had my heart, and I don't ever want it back.”
