What

This was written like a short story that kept going on. Don't even get me started on that ending. Random exceedingly inaccurate info dumps probably straight from Wikipedia litter the entire book.
Lol idk what to say other than its a quick read. Its like the author actually included parts he knew you'd like to skim. And if you did, it wouldn't affect the story in any way. The movie version of what financial markets are like is atrocious to read. The same conversation from chapter five is basically repeated at the end.
And Every single character is as one dimensional as a blank sheet of printing paper. What The Spider Did First let me spoil it for future readers and say that the poor spider did nothing wrong, she was just hanging in the bathroom doing spider things while the two humans sharing space with her made crazy decisions. Ok jokes aside, it was an entertaining read, engaging if one is used to the author style, the pacing isn’t hurried but slow and appreciative, there is no rushing through scenes and there is enough time to digest every frame the author created for the reader, the way the plot develops is interesting in its own accord, the journey in which Martin engage from beginning to end take us through the mind of an caged husband who finally realize that his jailer has been his wife all this time instead of the one that should have freed him, if there is an area that causes conflict it would be the characters, they share to many conflicting traits and their thinking logic is screwed completely. I would have rated it higher if it didn’t have such an inconclusive ending. What The Spider Did surprised by his book, not my usual reading but a really good one. What The Spider Did This is the second book I’ve read by this talented author. On the face it’s the story of a mismatched couple where the wife is the star with continuing desires, and the husband on the surface appears to be an underachieving nerd.

As usual, looks are deceiving. The husband has remarkable depths including remarkable resilience and untold creativity. And the wife is nothing but persistent.

This almost 400 page book had me gripped from the start; I couldn’t put it down. The story is a little fanciful, yet complex and intriguing. The twists and turns are a delight to follow.

This is the story initially of a cheating wife and subsequently a cheating husband, but it’s just so much more. If your focus is lengthy sex scenes, you’ll be disappointed. However, if you love a terrific story, with lots of sexual interactions, background to build the characters, in depth disclosure of what people think and how they interact, I highly recommend this book.

Definitely 5 Stars. What The Spider Did Another good story by Richard Gerald. Although this might be classified as erotica and has elements of cuckolding and a cheating wife, this is not a one-handed read. This is a novel about how a husband deals with his wife's infidelity. The first third is told from Martin's, the husband, POV, and then it switches back and forth.

At times, the story reminded me of the 80s movie, The War of the Roses. The difference is that Jillian, the wife, doesn't want her husband to leave. But...she doesn't truly want to change who she is.

I ate this book. It's very detailed and has excellent character development. The sex scenes, sadly, are more of an afterthought...there, but not as heavily invested in as the rest of the book. I believe that's on purpose because that's not the focus of the plot. The reaction...not necessarily the action at the time.

Highly recommend. What The Spider Did

Jillian was smart, beautiful and oh so wicked. Martin was a talented but underachieving math instructor married to a beautiful and ambitious fashion designer. His life could not have been more comfortable or happy until the spider of doubt crawled into their cozy co-op Manhattan apartment. Richard Gerald, best known for his short stories, “The Bridge,” “Her Itch,” and “A Slow Dance,” now brings his readers his first full-length novel. It is the story of the loving couple Martin and Jillian Stal, and of course, the spider. A dark creature overtakes Martin Stal and drives him to places he never thought he could go. Along the way, Gerald takes us on a roller-coaster ride of love, sex, and revenge. This is no willing cuckold tale, but the dark journey of just: What the Spider Did.
