What do you do when the future is wide open? Scarier than the frigging Navy.

Lost, no clue what to do with the rest of his life, Zane Harris follows his Navy SEAL buddy to Foothills, an absurdly beautiful tourist town nestled in the mountains outside Seattle. Freya Marks risks her career to settle in her hometown, but it feels so good to be with her family, to gaze at the Cascades every morning. The last thing either needs is to get caught up in off-the-charts pheromones that blind them to everything else. But one night in Tahoe... The Next Day (Foothills #2)

What a fun read!

Freya has had three failed engagements, and she has decided she’s not interested in a romantic relationship. She’s moved home after living a nomadic life as an artist and sees her cousin’s best friend moving into the garage apartment next door.

Zane is a former Navy SEAL and one drool worthy, sexy man who gets Freya all bothered and tingly. His best friend convinced him to move to Foothills, Washington after he gets out of the Navy. Zane is emotionally battered after a bitter divorce and a childhood with self involved parents.

Instantaneous combustion happens each time Zane and Freya are in proximity to each other. They both are determined to keep the other as a friend despite their electric chemistry. A favor of being Freya’s plus one at cousin’s wedding in Tahoe puts Zane and Freya on a collision course for an unbelievable weekend.

Zane, Freya and their family and friends are all interesting characters and at the end of the book I feel like I actually knew them. This was my first book by Carrie Thorn, but I plan to go back and read the first book in the series soon.

I really enjoyed Zane and Freya’s story. Here you have 2 very different people from very different walks of life. Zane is a war vet who suffers from PTSD and and a survivor of a divorce. He has a negative outlook on women and doesn’t want any long term commitment. Then you have Freya who has been engaged 3 times but never went through with any of them. She is a successful artist who has moved back home and also doesn’t want any commitments. Watching these two overcome their differences and struggles was amusing and almost heartbreaking at times. Loved this book and am considering getting the first book and then continuing with the series. English I really love this book. I have truly fallen in love with the small town of Foothills and most of the inhabitants.

It is a strangers/friends/lovers, a kind of fake marriage and a small town romance with suspense, steam and wonderful characters.

In this book you meet a stupid, stupid a..hole of a man but you can’t get around people like him in a small town unfortunately. He just has a small part in the book and he isn’t the main character luckily.

Zane the hero is a former Navy Seal, he just got out of the military and he has PTSD. He has been married and divorced and he has a very strained relationship with his parents. He lost one of his best friends to an overdose two days before he left the military. So he is a bit of a mess when he moves to Foothills. But he is such a wonderful guy who is very protective, swoon worthy, funny and you just want to hug him and tell him that everything is going to be all right.

Freya is the heroine and she is kind of a roommate to Zane. She is a free spirited artist who is now very afraid to fall in love and get married. She is a person who has had the tendency to fall in love very fast and she has been engaged three times but jumped ship every time. She does yoga in the gardens. She has just moved back to Foothills after living in Italy for a while and is also a bit of a mess. Freya was also a wonderful character and I loved how she helped him through his troubles with his PTSD and also with what he wants from his life.

I can definitely recommend this book and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series to see who Grady ends up with. I love Grady and he definitely deserves to find the love of his life now.

Zane is just out of the army, a SEAL with PTSD and one of his best friend’s ashes in an urn in his closet.

Freya is a free spirited artist with a big, loving family around her and several failed relationships behind her.

Their chemistry is undeniable, and as they are closely connected by friends and family they spend a lot of time together. They get along very well, but they are both wary about committement.

We get to share their story while reconnecting with Sophie, Asher and other characters from the previous books. I like series with standalone stories, you get the familiarity of context and it adds on to the reading experience.

I like Carrie Thorn’s type of story telling, she has a flow in both dialouge and the way the story evolves. She also writes strong characters and that is important to me.

It’s most certainly a romance, but there is so much more to the story than just the developing relationship. Family issues, how pre-concieved expectations can mess up relationships, and how confidence and self worth are not something that always evolves in the same direction. There is true depth in this story.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily English The Next Day is the first book I’ve read by this author, and is Zane and Freya’s story. He is a former Navy SEAL battling emotional wounds from PTSD as well as a bitter divorce experience, and she is a hopeless romantic with three broken engagements in her past who has written off relationships. Can they get over their past hurts, in order to find true happiness before it’s too late? The world-building of the town of Foothills and the cast of characters is superb. I missed Asher and Sophie’s book, but there was enough background that I could still enjoy this book as a stand-alone. Although their characters stood out enough that I want to go back and read more about them now! A full range of emotions is present in this reading experience—witty banter, laughter, lust, longing, love, drama, tears, violence, and so much sizzling hot chemistry! Honestly the only thing that annoyed me a bit was Freya’s negative obsession with pheromones. It got to be a bit much. But overall, I loved the book! Zane is awesome, I wanted to be the one to comfort him.😂 I can’t wait for Grady’s story!

I loved this book! I am growing to like more modern small-town romances after years spent in historical-land.

The hero a beautiful hot mess of a Navy SEAL, Zane, just out of the service. He is the best friend of Asher, the hero from the first book in this series. They served together and came home without most of their company.

The heroine, Freya, is an established artist. She just returned home from Rome and her latest failed engagement. They meet, and the pheromones go wild!

There is a lot of pain and a lot of fun. Death, wacko parents, weird parents, lots of friends. Panic attacks, furtive sex, accidental marriage. Seeing how Carrie Thorne works it all out so well is delightful. Wonderful plotting and character development, hot sex, lots of love.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. English The Next Day is a sweet small town romance between two strangers, Freya Marks and Zane Harris. Freya is an aspiring artist, who has returned home to Foothills to ground herself and focus on her career and to recover from another breakup. She is also the cousin of Asher and Pippa Sutherland, who we met in the first Foothills book, All the Days After. Zane is a former Navy SEAL, who has recently gotten out of the military and decided to move to Foothills (at the insistence of his best friend, Asher) to figure out what to do with his life now that he is a civilian.

This book is about how Freya and Zane figure out how to adjust to their new lives in a small town and handle co-habitating while keeping their pheromones at bay. Their connection was magnetic-like in a way. They are complete opposites that attract to one another- his darkness to her light, his hard plains to her curves, and his discipline to her free spirit. Even though they are basically strangers, I loved how comfortable they were with each other to lend their silent and verbal support and how they just understood one another.

I come from a home full of veterans from all branches of the military and military romances are one of my favorites tropes. I love all the aspects of a military romance from the ruggedly handsome alpha male, the strong independent woman who wins his heart, to the story that brings them together. But I also appreciate the journey of overcoming the invisible wounds and silent suffering the alpha male endures after becoming a civilian. This book addresses PTSD and the grief of losing a fellow veteran. It's refreshing to see that the stigma of PTSD and mental illness isn't as bad as it used to be and that it's perfectly acceptable and understandable for someone to have this condition. Zane's struggle is hard and will require work, but I love Freya helps him see that he shouldn't let it rule his life and hinder his dreams- that he is worth living a fulfilled life full of love and happiness.

Foothills seems like a beautiful little town with the beautiful scenery of Mount Rainier. Makes me wish I lived close to the mountains. I am totally jealous of Freya’s view while she does yoga every morning and the hiking trails so close by. I would also love to see Freya’s paintings especially the one that she did of her soldier running. They all sounded amazing and I could feel how passionate, intimate, and dear each one was to her.

I can't wait for Grady's book to come out. The excerpt has me wishing it was October already so I can read more about him, Claire, and Ryder.

I recommend this book and the Foothill series if you are looking for an easy and fun read that will have you a little hot and bothered and happy the boy got the girl. I also recommend Carrie's Demon Hunter series. English Waking To Love -
Zane swore off relationships and marriage after his divorce, but something seemed to shift inside him after he started spending time with Freya. On the other hand, Freya had been engaged twice, but she didn’t marry either man, as she felt there was something missing. Same may have been a 100% alpha, take charge man, but Freya was definitely one feisty woman, who knew her mind and was no push over.

Their relationship was antagonistic, but the chemistry between them was off-the-charts hot. Who would have thought a drunken mistake, spending more time together because of subterfuge and a chaotic incident, would lead them to realise that they were meant to be together. This book will definitely have you hooked from the beginning, right until the end. I really enjoyed reading this book and it left me really looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

I received an advanced copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review. English This is a sweet strangers to lovers but with a twist.

Carrie writes a fantastic story about an artist, Freya, that has had three engagements and she has left a groom at the altar. She has moved back home to Foothills from Europe. What happens when she meets a Navy SEAL that is renting the apartment above the house she is living in?

Zane is an ex Navy SEAL that has moved to Foorhills to get away from everything. His friend was killed in a two and he has to spread his ashes there. He is divorced and is not looking for a relationship. Well until he meets Freya.

Things heat up and the twists start.

The plot twists is fantastic and the character development is interesting. Carrie does an amazing job of grabbing your attention right from the start. I can't wait to read more of her books. English The Next Day

Main Characters: Freya and Zane
I voluntarily and honestly reviewed this book without bias or persuasion from the author.
5 out of 5 stars
Freya has a few engagements under her belt and Zane one marriage under his. These two have mega chemistry when they meet. Freya believes in pheromones, especially with Zane. Zane is a former SEAL and also went to school as an architect who suffers from PTSD after 12 years in the service. Freya is an artist who has been overseas and had her paintings in galleries. I absolutely loved this story and was sorry when it ended. It is a contemporary romance and the first book I have read by this author but I am looking forward to reading more.
