Greatly enjoyed. Another wonderful book added to the Mrs. Avery's Adventures series. This time we get to meet Piper's son Roger. Piper and Joel make a fantastic sleuthing team. Did the dummy do it? You'll just have to read it to find out. I highly recommend this book and series! English This book was particularly sad bc of the death of a beloved and giving elderly gentleman. It brings to light the devious ways of those in people's lives who cling to someone having nothing to do with actual friendship or love. Well thought out storyline and development of characters. Another great book by Ms. Williams. Well done! English
I love this series of books and the cast of characters superbly bought to life by the author. This is the third book. I don't have a favourite, each story is unique and equally well-written. Piper Avery, once again unwittingly finds herself at the centre of another murder case.
Together with Joel they begin investigating, assisting the police in a case which needs to be wrapped up as quickly as possible. There's a killer on the loose.
Worried for her son in the midst of the goings-on and fearing for his safety, encourages her to work long hours. She has been given a job to do, cracking a code which is central to the answers they are seeking. Can she do it in time?
I'm waiting for the next book already. Love the backdrop to this cozy series. English Cora, the sea witch is stirring up more than trouble for Morgan and the residents of Pearl Island. The island is being visited by mysterious ocean salvage divers and rumors abound as to what lies beneath the sea. Morgan, Gabe and their friends must solve the mystery, a murder and learn more about the history of Pearl Island and how Morgan plays a part in its history in this the second book of a great a series from Victoria L.K.Williams.
This book can also be read as a stand alone, but the author leaves just enough mystery for the reader to look forward to her next book.
I received an ARC of Mist Across the Waves from the author and the review and comments are my honest opinion. English Another “I can’t put this book down” installment about the perceptive Piper Avery. I kept putting the book away, shut the light, and thought I’ll just read a bit more. Turned about to be quite a few hours because I needed the solution to this fascinating mystery. Piper, yet again, walks in to another murder scene and this time she has a surprise. Her son is in town. And he’s got a few more surprises for her. Piper works with Joel to figure out some clues. Love the idea of the puzzle clues. Good mystery. Several suspects and the Dummy might hold a clue. Nice slow building friendship with Piper and Joel. English A good Halloween-themed cozy!
Piper is very busy making the final preparations for the opening of her photography gallery. But of course there’s another murder and she’s once again in the midst of it. Together with Joel she investigates. And that scary, weird note saying The Dummy Did It: what was THAT about? An intriguing note, an intriguing story!
A good cozy, perfect for Halloween! The story is mostly told from Piper’s point of view, but there are some chapters from Joel’s POV as well. The difference between those POV’s was skillfully done, to match Piper and Joel’s different personalities. I thought it was an exciting story, with a satisfying ending! The mystery itself stands alone completely, but for the characters it’s best to read the previous books. English Cute. Cozy. English

Someone is trying to pin the blame on the Dummy!
Pelican Harbor is starting to look festive with Halloween displays, but Piper Avery stumbles onto a gruesome discovery; a dead body. And it has nothing to do with holiday decorations.
When Piper and Daisy, her diva dog, arrive to talk to Samuel Weston about his art, they find him murdered - behind the locked doors of his office. And sitting in the chair by the body is Samuel's ventriloquist dummy; a gruel note pinned to it.
But this isn't the only discovery Piper makes. Her youngest son is also staying at the Weston home, and he is romantically involved with Samuel's granddaughter.
Plus Joel and his K-9 partner, Scout, have arrived to talk to the victim, and it's not about art.
Now Piper and Joel must work together and find a killer. And they must work fast; before Piper's son is blamed, or worse, another murder happens.
