Everyone should read this book! Most of us, women and men, are menopause illiterates. We need educating, and this book will do the job. Easy to read, very clear, full of desperately needed information! Thank you very much for all your hard work, Louise! You literally are a lifesaver! I suffered from quite a long list of symptoms for 22 years. Two months ago I started HRT, at the age of 62, and finally I can sleep again. No insomnia, hot flushes, headache etc and generally getting better by the day. Immensly grateful! ❤ Preparing for the Perimenopause and Menopause: No. 1 Sunday Times Bestseller Dr. Louise Newson, I'm so grateful to you. I hope one day you will receive the Queen's honours for the work you have done for women's health. Your book, Youtube videos, website and Balance app have educated women with evidence based information that allows us to go into our GP and Gynae/specialist appointments with the knowledge to help us receive the treatment that will transform our lives. It makes me emotional thinking of all those women, our mums and grannies who didn't have a Dr. Louise Newson to empower them. Due to my acquired knowledge I was able to speak to the GP and Gynae, who were sadly still saying all the expected things. If I hadn't felt empowered, I would have left the appointment without hrt or even worse with a prescription for anti depressants. Sadly medical treatment now, is about treating one symptom at a time, and with perimenopause/menopause it is about putting all those little symptoms together to find the solution. Treating people as a whole. Our GP's are absolutely able to prescribe HRT, and support women. Please buy this book, and use to the knowledge to book that GP appointment and get the treatment you need. It will quite literally save lives. Thank you again Dr. Newson. Preparing for the Perimenopause and Menopause: No. 1 Sunday Times Bestseller After reading this book I have been thinking that it takes a lot for a woman to even take the time to stop and think about what’s happening with her body, and with her life. You cannot change everything in one day, but taking the first step is everything. So, choose a safe and quiet place, and read this book. It’s all there, condensed in an easy to read manual, written with empathy and care. This book is your first step. And it can change your life. Preparing for the Perimenopause and Menopause: No. 1 Sunday Times Bestseller This is a really helpful, informative short read.I’ve been feeling really terrible recently and I’m sure it’s perimenopause. This has given me the information I needed and I’m going to make a doctor’s appointment. The caveat is that, in a book about women’s health, there was the inclusion of the ridiculous, science denying phrase “sex assigned at birth”. Why, why must otherwise intelligent and educated women who know full well sex is not assigned but observed (and it’s mostly now known well before birth hence the incidence of sex selective abortions…)! It reduces my trust in medical professionals if they parrot ideology rather than stick to facts. I wonder whether this was the author’s decision or the editor’s? Shame either way. Preparing for the Perimenopause and Menopause: No. 1 Sunday Times Bestseller I came across the work of Dr Louise Newson during the Channel 4 Documentary on Menopause. As a 52 year old woman I realised how little I understood the menopause, how little it is discussed in society, and how little I understood the debilitating changes happening to my body. I researched up on Louise's extensive experience in this area, found her excellent website, downloaded a copy of the symptom tracker and suddenly everything made sense. Three months ago I started taking HRT, prescribed to me by my GP and it has been transformational. Hungry for information I purchased this book and, together with the detailed symptom pdfs on Dr Louise's website I feel empowered to have meaningful conversations with friends and colleagues about menopause and the latest thinking on HRT. I recommend this book to anyone looking for an accessible introduction to perimenopause, and menopause. My husband is now reading my copy. I'm happy to say the stigma I once felt about discussing 'the change' has gone completely. This book has helped with that.
