When Patricia Talbert comes to Texas, she’s hoping to get in and get out. Sell the ranch with little
trouble and no strings attached. Unfortunately for her plans, she becomes interested. Not only in the
beautiful country, but in the foreman of the ranch that used to belong to her Uncle Jake.
Still, she’s not about to interrupt her prosperous city life where she is the daughter of a senator, and
also his social coordinator.
Besides, after finding out how many of her friends in New York are only her friends in order to be close
to her father, she’s not ready to take on any new relationships. Especially risking her heart for the
second time.
Talon Carlson was raised by Jake and thought of him as a father. His one hope now is that Patricia might
not sell the ranch.
Before long those hopes are dashed. Can he make it through the pain surrounding not only her heart, but
his?
Finally, Patricia issues a challenge to buy some time. “Teach me how to ride bulls.”
Can they get beyond the hostility that marks the beginning of their relationship, and find trust and
love again?
Linda Yezak pulls you from your surroundings, and places you in the middle of a Texas cow town. Where
men still hold the doors open for ladies, and cowboys ride bulls. Not to test what kind of men they are,
but just for the ride.
This book kept me reading. The heroine has enough uncertainty to make you wonder if there’s time in the
book to make the decisions she’ll be forced to, and the hero has the good qualities with the quick
temper to match.
I look forward to reading more by this author from the state of Texas, who isn’t afraid to spin
new tales. English What a sweet light hearted modern western romance! I thoroughly enjoyed reading Give the Lady A Ride by Linda Yezak.
This romance story begins with a change in ownership of the Circle Bar Ranch in Texas. Talon Carlson isn’t sure what to expect when Jake McAllister passes away and leaves the ranch to his New York City niece, Patricia Talbert. As a long time employee, he had hoped that he would inherit the ranch. His dreams for the ranch shatter when Patricia shows up.
Patricia is the daughter of a New York senator and she manages his schedule. The slow paced lifestyle on the Circle Bar gives her a chance to re-evaluate the fast-paced, politically motivated life she led in New York. When her best friend Marie, who accompanied her to Texas, falls in love with one of the ranch hands, she uses this excuse to take her time to decide what to do with the ranch.
Only, Patricia doesn’t realize that her own heart is slowly drawn to Talon. Both Patricia and Talon must move beyond their past hurts before they can take a chance again.
The romance is sweet and gradual. This line from Patricia’s point of view illustrates this perfectly: “Now she understood what Marie was feeling. Not love, but the potential for it.”
Linda Yezak does a wonderful job of describing the western setting. Though I’ve never been on a working cattle ranch, Linda explained daily life so well that I felt like I was there. She gave wonderful details about bull riding—from training to breeding bulls to riding in competition.
The faith aspect was nicely woven into the story. We see characters with strong faith, weak faith, and even no faith, all grow to a new understanding over the course of the story line. Each walk was different and fit the characters perfectly.
I would strongly recommend this novel for any fan of contemporary western romance. It’s worth every penny!
English A fun read about a city girl who inherits her uncle's ranch, lock, stock, and good looking foreman. English City slicker meets rustic Texas cowboy. Linda Yezak did a great job showing us what life on a ranch is like. The action scenes place you right against the rail of the arena holding your breath as the characters ride bulls. Yes, Bulls. The romance is sweet and it makes you want to read the sequel. I'm glad I tried this author and will read more of her books. English Reviewed by Molly

I’m an eclectic book reader, reading most anything, but one of my favorite kinds to read are the Inspirational stories. The books that really grip you, taking you on an emotional roller coaster, and leaving you with a new meaning on life. Linda Yezak has created a wonderfully written inspiring story that will do just that and so much more to the reader. From start to finish, I was on the ride of my life!
Patricia Talbert, a city woman, is not up to ranch life, that’s for sure. That’s why she’s hoping to sell the ranch, and high tail it back to the city. Those were her plans anyway. Until she meets a Stetson where, bull riding foreman who takes her breath away.
Talon Carlson is a bull riding foreman on a ranch that is now owned by a city slicking woman. Gorgeous, yes, but ranch living? No, she’s not made for that. But, Talon Carlson wants to show the beautiful Patricia that God is the one who has her plans all laid out. It’s Him that will lead her where she needs to be. And, if teaching her to ride bulls is in God’s plans….well, then, Talon’s up for the lessons.
But, will it be enough to convince Patricia that trusting in God…..and Talon…..will make her whole and happy? Or will the charming cowboy loose his heart and the ranch he loves?
Definitely a wonderful story to read! Filled with the perfect blend of humor and romance, this story will leave you with a satisfying smile and a heart hungry for more of Ms. Yezak’s work. I’m looking forward to going back and reading more of her work, both past and future! English
I have been hemming and hawing about reading this book for months. It's written by an internet friend of mine, and because it is in 2 genres that are unappealing to me (western and romance) I avoided reading it so I wouldn't have to either pretend I never did or give a bad review.
But then I kept hearing from other people how good the book was, so I bit the bullet and read it. I found it amazing. The city girl did not turn out nearly as annoying as I thought she'd be. Talon, the cowboy, was more than an 'aw shucks ma'am grin in a Stetson. If Jane Austen had lived in Texas during this century, she may have written this book herself. I loved it.
English From the publisher: Patricia Talbert is a high-class social coordinator from New York. Talon Carlson is a rugged bull rider from Texas. He thinks she’s too polished. She thinks he’s insane.
Opposites aren’t quick to attract when the lady who enters the cowboy’s world is on a mission to sell the ranch. But a box of letters changes her mind and her heart.
My review:
So I'm a sucker for westerns, what can I say with Zane Grey as one of my favorite authors. I fell in love with Linda's as yet unnamed story when it first crossed my desk. Already polished, I often forgot to edit as I read, which is something that rarely happens to me even with big-name publishers.
Talon (doncha love the name, but there's a reason for it, which you'll have to find for yourself), was left in charge of a Texas spread after Jake and Loretta, the owners, passed on. Leader of a rag-tag group of cowboys, he's waiting on Jake's will, hoping to be named the new owner since Jake and Loretta had practically raised him. When Jake's lawyer mentioned that Jake had left the place to a distant relative, who turned out to be a big-city socialite, Talon is devastated. Even more so when the hoity-toity young lady, senator's daughter Patricia, lets him know the place is for sale.
The cowboy's a man of faith, whereas the socialite hasn't had much time to spare for religion. When Patricia sees her first rodeo, all the horse-back riding lessons, and even a long-forgotten visit to the ranch, come flooding back. This ranch lifestyle tugs at her, and is much more appealing than the brittle glitter of New York. Talon might have an ulterior motive for convincing the lady to stay so that he can convince her not to sell; and Patricia a not-so-subtle reason for asking for bull-riding lessons, but they soon realize they're smitten with each other.
I love the behind-the-scenes looks Linda adds to the story to make bull-riding and rodeos and ranch life feel natural and alluring. In my mind those touches, along with appealing characters and heart-felt, heartstring-tugging romance makes Give the Lady a Ride a very sweet read indeed.

English Out of the hundred-plus books I read each year, only a few rise above the pack into memorability. Linda Yezak’s Give the Lady a Ride is one of those books. This spunky modern-day western romance is sure to please fans of both genres with its sweet love story, rollicking rodeo feats, and laugh-out-loud dialogue. Yezak rounds up a whole herd of unforgettable characters and sends them galloping straight into the reader’s heart. Not to be missed. English Give the Lady a Ride by Linda Yezak definitely charmed this city slicker. I've never been on a horse, but after Yezak's debut I'm thisclose to saddlin' up for my own ranch and rodeo adventure (I'll have to draw the line at palpating cows, though).
She did a fantastic job including details that really brought life out west into focus. I could almost smell the joe brewing in the kitchen, and hear the characters' boot steps on plank floorboards.
This is a short, quick read- about the length of a Love Inspired novel, with charming characters and sweet romance. Give the Lady a Ride is certainly a ride worth taking.
