Down n Dirty Dog (Cocky Hero Club) By Eve Black

Down

This book was tons of fun. I love a good opposites attract story, and you don't get more opposite than a male stripper and a librarian. In this book, the curvy, shy heroine gets the tall, hard-bodied, manwhore--reformed, of course.

Lap dances, Chinese takeout, and Mr. Sexy Neighbor....

Tired of living half a life of trying to fill his empty soul with vices, Dog is blindsided by the beautiful woman in the audience who doesn't act like she wants a piece of him. He pursues her, thinking he'll just scratch the itch, but he quickly realizes there's more to his Kitty Cat than he ever thought possible.

Hurt by a handsome conman, Cat is wary of Dog and his intentions. But, despite her desire to keep him at bay, Dog charms his way into her life, her bed, and her heart.

I love watching these two learn about each other, learn to trust, and learn that love is more powerful than mistrust, fear, and insecurities. I absolutely adore that Dog looks at Cat and sees a sexy, beautiful woman, worthy of his attentions--and much more.

This book was fun, funny, emotional, a little cheesy, super sexy hot, and definitely the best book by Eve Black so far. Also, I was really glad to see Soraya and Delia from Stuck-Up Suit!

Dog (Dhaval) is Vegas' hottest, most in demand stripper. He's starting to tire of the emptiness of his life of meaningless hookups and booze. But it's those very things, plus his dancing, that keep him out of his head when his head is the last place he wants to be. Too much going on in there, too much pain, too much guilt. Then a woman walks into his life, into his club, that instantly makes him feel something. For one, she's not throwing herself at him, for two, she's clearly not interested in some quick fun like all the other women he meets. How can he get this beautiful woman in his life?

Cat has leftover insecurities thanks to a horrible ex, and those insecurities have left her not having a clue as to how the hottest guy she's ever seen could possibly be interested in her. He's the gorgeous neighbor she's been drooling over, and now she finds out at her friend's bachelorette party that he's Vegas' hottest stripper. How can she be expected to react when he focuses his attention on her?

I so was not expecting Dog's backstory, and once I read it, I could sympathize with his less than pleasant behavior at the beginning of this story. It was heartbreaking what he went through, and I was rooting for him and Cat to get on the same page and to grab the happiness both of these damaged souls deserved. Their chemistry was smokin' hot, the emotional component was even stronger, and I fell in love with them and their story. Such a great read, one that definitely makes its mark on the Cocky Hero Club.

Blog | Instagram | Facebook | Twitter English This was one deliciously sexy story and not necessarily because of the s-e-x itself, but more about the chemistry and sensual build-up the story was wrapped in. It goes by quick, but what is there is very captivating and layered with emotion.

If you’re in the mood for a quick satisfying read, here ya go :)
English This story was totally not what I was expecting and everything I wanted!!! The emotions were intense and I loved that Cat was a strong and feisty woman. Dhaval (Dog) has carried guilt with him since his service in Afghanistan. It's haunted him and when he came back, he tried to keep it at bay by becoming a male stripper, drinking and going through all the women. When he sees Cat, something in him changes. This story had all the feels and I think I'm gonna end up rereading this more than once. Can Dog convince Cat (love the names) that he's giving up the dancing, the booze and the women? Well, you're just gonna have to get the book to find out!! English First off can I say that I loved the play on words of the characters names...Cat and Dog. It just goes to show you that cats and dogs can really get along and be best friends or lovers.

In the beginning, I was turned off by Dog as I thought he had an inflated ego. However, after getting to know him better; I fell for him and hard...like 8 inches hard! Cat on the other hand was not so easily swoon by him. In fact, it is why I loved her so much.

This book has very few sex scenes but it is one of the hottest books I have read. The sexual tension and chemistry between Cat and Dog was just oozing off the pages of the book. If you are looking for a steamy, quick read than, look no further and pick up a copy of this book today.

Sex. Booze. Shaking his c*ck for screaming women…. It’s his job. His vice. His punishment for being alive. He wallows in it, doing whatever he can to fill the hollow spaces left by his grief. His rage.

Life is a numb cycle of faceless women, wicked nights, and trying to forget. He is just a body women crave, nothing more. A shell that was once a US Marine…looking for something to fill the void where his heart used to be, but nothing fits.

Until he meets her.

Until he meets the one woman who doesn’t fall for his shit, his smirk, his golden tongue. The one woman who brings light into his darkness. She is nothing like the women he's met before, and he finds himself intrigued by her. Fighting every instinct to stay away, to leave her alone. But he can’t. She is beautiful without knowing it, sexy as hell, smart, sweet, and just too good for him. He knows, deep in his bones, she is the one woman who can truly break him…but you can’t break what’s already broken, right?

And what if she heals him instead? What happens when opposites attract and a down 'n' dirty stripper falls for a quiet 'n' curvy librarian?

I'm writing this review for United Indie book blog

This was such a fun book to read! I loved the play on Cat and Dog,so cute!! I loved how tender and caring he was and how he could tell there was something bothering her. He had his own issues but he put her first and she was able to calm down the nightmares he had every night. Cat was a librarian and dressed like one. She had curves but thanks to an ex boyfriend, who destroyed her mentally, she had horrible body image about herself. She doesn't think she attractive or has what it takes to get a guy as good looking as Dog. She dreams of him and wonders what it would like to be one of those girls.. After a night with friends, things change for them. For Dog, it was love at first sight and he knew she was the one for him. For her, he made her feel things she hadn't before but she had her guard up. She didn't just cave for him and I loved that a lot! He had to work on her and get her to see he wasn't the bad guy. That he wasn't using her for anything. That he truly cared and loved her for her. I loved the both of them together and how they worked together! Great book with fun characters! English What can I say about Down 'n' Dirty Dog....it was really good!! Cat is a librarian and she loves what she does, she doesn't think very highly of herself though, she doesn't see in herself what everyone else sees...a beautiful woman with curves. She sees a plain fat girl. It doesn't help that she heard exactly that from a guy in her past and those words have never left, so when someone says anything different from that mantra, she doesn't believe it, she doesn't believe that she is pretty enough, or interesting enough to get a hot guy....that would be where Dhaval Dirty Dog Gentry enters the picture, you see he just so happens to be Cat's neighbor and she certainly likes what she sees!! Dog is dealing with his own internal demons with being in the military, and seeing things and losing his brothers, he comes back and has to find a way to make a living. His problem is he's shut down, and doing things to try and forget, so he drinks too much, is a stripper, and has a revolving door where women are concerned. He then lays eyes on Cat, and he can't get her out of his mind especially because she doesn't fall for his usual lines and that intrigues him. They start hanging out together and things start changing, they both start to change, Cat starts to believe that maybe a guy like Dog can be attracted to her, and Dog starts to maybe consider the possibility of being a one woman man, but here's the thing....can Cat believe that she is good enough to get the hot guy, and that he'll stay? Will Dog get out from under the back breaking guilt he carries, and believe he could actually be everything Cat could want and need? Y'all are just gonna have to read this awesome book to find out!! English I struggled with Down 'n' Dirty Dog. It took me forever to get into the book and care for Dog and Cat. They do have interesting backstories but, as it happened with the plot, it was extremely slow to come out. I don't mind slow burn as long as it's finely executed and there is a reason behind it.

I must say the word game with the main characters' names was brilliant. And it was reflected in the chase between Dog and Cat. Also, I hated Trina! Also, I wish there was an epilogue that gave hints about Dog and Cat's future. English Leave who you were. Love who you are. Look forward to who you will become.

I have to first say Oorah to Eve Black for having the heroine a curvy girl. There are not enough books out there in the world about BBW. Curvy girls deserve to have hot sex and a relationship with a gorgeous man too.

Eve never felt confident in her own skin since forever. She was always made to feel unworthy and she was always made fun of. She did fall for one guy, but he turned out to be a mean sleazeball and he hurt her badly. Her self-esteem went rock bottom after that experience. Eve did have a dirty little secret though. She lusted for her sexy next-door neighbour. But she was realistic and knew he was so way out of her league. A shy librarian and a sex on wheels male stripper, no not happening. But she could fantasize.

But when she was coerced into going to a male strip club with her friends, Dog (Dhaval) sees Cat and is shocked to feel something more than just a one-night stand with her. That was his MO, one night only and then he moved on to his next quest. Dog wanted more with Cat. But he carried a lot of baggage from his military past that he could not let go. He felt Cat would not want to take all that on.

I did not think I would feel sympathy for Dog, but hearing his story got me in the feels. A wonderful story of opposites attracts. I found myself racing through the book to find out what happens between the two of them. English Dhaval just wants to forget what’s happened in the past. Catina has self-esteem issues. The author has given them some interesting nicknames that I will let you discover – I thought them cute and what a great motivator to see if they live up to them.

This book has some good things going for it. It’s part of a great series – although I don’t know that I would call Dhaval cocky. He seems more self-assured. He’s also a little complicated. Catina is a woman who just needs the right person for her to see that she’s fine just the way she is. She has a great friend but she just needs something that the friend can’t give her.

Our author had me hooked right from the moment that I read her dedication. If you’ve not been following the Cocky Hero Club inspiration series this might be the perfect place to start. She shows that you can read a book that builds a lot of anticipation before taking the next step in a relationship. Ms. Black made the story seem plausible by having two people that are so far apart that being called a couple almost seemed impossible. But every scene made sense and that anything fictional can seem real.

The only thing I hated was that the story had to come to an end. But getting an audiobook copy will make my experience that much better. She did create a secondary character that works with Dhaval that I was left wondering if I will see him again. And that may be a good incentive to keep a watch out for any new books coming out.

I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. English
