This is a good starting course and could be used not just by those new to digital photography but those new to photography altogether. The only criticism I can make is some of the ‘projects’ are effectively suggesting you set yourself up on say a high street and wait for something to happen and photograph that, think you could get into a lot of trouble doing things like that. Didn’t go into basics regarding aperture, shutter speed, iso etc. Need to know fundamentals first, not delve straight into exercises. It starts very basic with Week 1 and gives examples, tricks and tips, explanations of settings to use, practical exercises, eg go out and make some photos, assess what you have made, see how they can be improved, a small test before you move on to the next chapter/week.Each chapter/week has 7 double pages, so I read 1 double page a day and try to put that to use and at the end of the week I am ready to move onto the next chapter. The Hardcover is sturdy and strong, the pages are lovely, think and good quality paper. The colour illustrations are also top notch.Whilst i haven read the whole book cover to cover, as a beginner I have found the information and illustrations , easy to understand and follow.I would definitely recommend this to anyone who is beginning learning photography. The diagrams are very clear.This would make an excellent printed book.However, to aid portability in the field I bought the Kindle version.This is possibly the worst Kindle conversion I have ever bought. In order to get the most out of the colour pictures and graphics it is necessary to read this book on a tablet. I am using a 12” iPad in landscape mode which presents the page perfectly. However, page turning is far far smooth. It only scrolls one and a half pages and you have to scroll back to get the full two page landscape spread.Trying to read the book in portrait mode is useless as most pages have to be read as a double page spread because of the graphic layout.This may be another fault with the iOS Kindle or the book. If you are thinking of buying this book for an iPad Kindle; be warned.
