I just don’t know how to put into words how much I love this series and this Cocker family! In my opinion each book keeps getting better and better. From the previous books, I have to be honest I didn’t love Justin as much as his brothers and I was wondering if he was going to be able to settle into a happily ever after like the other Cocker boys have so far. That being said, I couldn’t wait to devour this book and when it arrived in my in-box, it absolutely made my weekend!
Justin has had his sights set on the Senate for as long as he can remember. His whole life has been tailored to that one specific goal. Although he’s from a huge, very close family, he keeps to himself more than the others. He’s closest with his twin Jason, but lately there is some distance even between the twins. Jason has settled down with a wife and baby on the way, while Justin is still vehemently opposed to having a girlfriend, never mind ever having a wife. He doesn’t do relationships, doesn’t do attachments and has no plans to ever have a wife or god forbid kids of his own.
Well, Justin met his match in the Boston airport bar. Well, he actually met her long before that, but he never noticed her as an awkward, style-less teen sitting in a desk next to him. He sure notices her now. The smart, sexy, flirty banter between Justin and the mystery woman is so funny and so Justin. Ever the smooth talker, he somehow ends up spending his last few moments in the boarding lounge locked in a janitor’s closet with Jaimie (although to him, she is a nameless beauty to spend a few moments with).
Jaimie knows exactly who Justin is and it’s a teenage dream come true, she just doesn’t realize how much of him she’s going to be seeing in the upcoming months…since he’s going to be running against her father for Senate.
They continue to cross paths and although he warns her that he can never offer anything more than sex, she can’t resist the passion they share and they continue to steal insanely sexy moments together. When she realizes that she may be starting to have some actual feelings for this confirmed bachelor, she panics and goes into self-preservation mode. She says some absolutely awful things that stun Justin, but really it was just a taste of his own medicine. I admit it – I cried. It was gut-wrenching. But it had to happen.
When Justin’s entire world gets flipped upside down, he realizes that the first person he wants to call for support after his twin, is Jaimie. Even though they had fought and parted ways, when she heard the desperation in his voice, she dropped everything to help him.
Jaimie helps Justin adjust to his new life and falls more in love with him every day, but Justin holds out until the bitter end. He refuses to open his heart to the possibility of a future. He’s jaded and he has his reasons, but thankfully after many heartbreaking moments, he realizes that life is better with Jaimie in it. Cue the Cocker family BBQ. :)
This book is funny, sweet, SO sexy, heartbreaking and just perfect. I can’t even talk about the best part without spoiling it, so you just have to read it! And if you haven’t read the first few books in the series, I highly recommend those too! You can’t go wrong with a Cocker brother. Faleena Hopkins Cocky Senator is book 5 in the Cocker Brothers Series by Faleena Hopkins and I loved it. This book had everything I look for in a book. It was funny, heartwarming and super sexy.
Justin Cocker is the sexy dirty talking politician, who has his sights set only on the Senate. Even though he comes from a large and very close family, Justin has always kept to himself. As with most families, Justin is closest to his twin Jason. Well at least he was until Jason got married and now has a kid on the way. Because unlike his twin, Justin doesn't believe in love, doesn't want kids. Let alone a girlfriend or wife. So why can't he get the mysterious woman he meet at an airport bar in Boston out of his mind?
Can Justin let go of what he witnessed in the past? Or will he continue to let it ruin his chances for love?
This series get better with each book. I highly recommend this series to anyone looking for a sexy fun read. Faleena Hopkins I won't bore you with a long synopsis of Justin's and Jaimie's story as I'm pretty sure that you probably know it by now. You wanna know if it's worth your time and money to invest in reading this book. If you'll be entertained or be able to escape from it all for a time. So here's my take on it...
As I'm sitting, writing this review, I'm stunned by the fact that Ms Faleena Hopkins has done it to me again! I just started and finished reading Cocky Senator in record time without breaks, knowing fully that I would suffer from lack of sleep the next day and I did it anyway! Why'd I deprive myself from much needed sleep you ask? Because Ms Hopkins has a way about writing a story that captures your attention and you just have to finish it (like that last two scoops of rocky road ice cream in your freezer that's been taunting you all night).
The internet is saturated with authors that are missing that gift, the gift of emersing your readers so deeply in a story that they don't want to leave...ever.
I seriously hope that more books are on the horizon for her. That the Cocker family is as large as the Cocker brothers themselves ;)
I am definitely a fangirl of Ms Hopkins mad skills and fervently wish that she not only continues writing but expands her talents to different genres as well. I will be watching and waiting for the next book out for sure!!!
I received an ARC of this book and voluntarily agree to leave an honest review. Faleena Hopkins
DELIGHTFULLY ENTERTAINING & FIERY PASSIONATE ROMANCE
Justin is charming and highly intelligent when it comes to politics but when it comes to love not so much keeping the chains that surround his heart locked. Justin finds pleasure in the arms of many women making them no promises of commitment. On his way home from Boston he meets a stunning sassy woman at the airport bar. Jaimie is leaving her home in Boston, moving to Atlanta to help her dad with the Senate race in Georgia, not knowing that Justin is running against her dad. The two have electrifying lovemaking before the flight to Atlanta which catapults them into a wild heartfelt road to a happy ending.
Fast past and fabulously written the author has given readers a thrilling fun story that keeps you turning pages until the end. Witty dialogue, breathless scene descriptions, a few surprises and a cast of engaging characters help you visualize and feel this story. Justin goes through many life-changing moments trying to sort out new found desires, needs and wants. Justin loves his family and their support offers much-needed guidance. Meeting Jaimie is the best thing that happened to Justin as she is most certainly his perfect match; their romance is far from boring and it is filled with much adoration, fun, fiery passion and their ending is deliciously sweet. I relished this most gratifying read. If you treasure fantasy romance, this is a terrific book for your library. In a world of fantasy romance, the magic begins with the first thought to paper. {This is a voluntary review of an advanced copy}. Without reservations, I recommend this book. Faleena Hopkins I'm loved it but.....
I loved it but I really didn't enjoy how long it took Justin to pull his head out of his rear.... Started off really, really HOT!!! Then a twist I didn't see coming took the story in a slightly different direction and made it easier for Justin to bring Jamie into his life, while I loved the twist,I came to resent Justin's stubbornness that bordered on stupidity, watching a man be stupid is never fun unless it's the kinda thing you'd see my n I he those crazy video shows ;)
Loved Jamie she was amazing and sweet but what I loved most was her honesty w/both herself and with Justin, they had great chemistry, only draw backs were his stubborn stupidity and wasn't a fan of their last sex scene where suddenly their sex had a BDSM type flavor it hadn't had any other time in the book...
Starts off her wanting to tie him up ( w/his ties) ( I was all Wooooo
Hoooooo!!! Over it!! Yeah Baby!! Let the woman be in charge for once!!!) and next thing I know she's one tied up and it's all this Sir this and Sir that something that we hadn't had before and for me it was soo been there done that in toooo many books to
count ,out character for the story and left a stale taste for something that HAD felt soo fresh....
Please leave the faux BDSM crap alone,it's beyond been there done that any more and while these two were fierce and passionate and a little wild, this Sir nonsense wasn't them ;( Faleena Hopkins
characters Cocky Senator (Cocker Brothers of Atlanta, #5)
JUSTIN
I'm about to run for Senator, the youngest Georgia's seen in 200 years. For my whole life, this has been my obsession. It's why I went to Yale. Why I work twelve hour days. I don't want kids. I don't want a wife. I don't believe in marriage, for a very good reason that I will never share with anyone.
Going to Washington is all I ever think about, until a smoky-eyed beauty orders, Jameson whiskey, rocks, and accepts my invitation to what turns out to be the hottest sex of my life.
When she leaves me standing there staring after her and zipping up my pants, wondering who the hell she is, I try like hell to ignore the fact that my obsession just switched...to her.
JAIMIE
My father needs me. So here I am at the airport leaving everything I've built in Boston and everyone I know, in order to move to Atlanta. Hence the booze before noon on a Tuesday.
When Justin Cocker appears at my side, offering himself up as a stress-reliever, I know he doesn't recognize me. Why would he? I only went to his high school for one year, and I was hideous back then. Late bloomer - that's me.
He's gorgeous and dirty-minded. Best of all is the look in his eyes. Desire. Lust. Need.
He leans in and smirks, I know a janitor's closet that locks.
You think a lady would turn down such an offer, wouldn't you? Not today she wouldn't. Cocky Senator (Cocker Brothers of Atlanta, #5)
One night of passion for Justin Cocker and Jaimie Rothdale will end up something more. Jaimie is on her way to see her Dad in Atlanta when she is spotted in the bar by a Cocker Brother. Jaimie recognizes Justin from school but seems he doesn't recognize her and they have wild passionate sex. When they arrive in Atlanta, they go their separate ways thinking that they won't see each other ever again, but fate has a different plan up her sleeve. Justin is running for the Senate seat and wants Senator Rothdale to retire. Jaimie has been asked by her father to help him on the campaign. When the pair spots each other, it is the start of a love/hate relationship. What will happen though when while in the campaign race, Mr. Carefree Bachelor Justin is told he has a five-year-old daughter. Will he step up to the plate and try his best to become a father to Hannah or will he turn his back on fatherhood to continue to pursue his dream as Senator Cocker? When he makes his choice, it starts to open the door to other possibilities but is Justin willing to change his ways to be happy or will he be the Cocky and Stubborn one? Cocky Senator was a political romance and was the type of book that you don't have to think about as you know already how the book is going to go and end which makes it an easy and relaxing read. I have the other Cocker Brother books, so I am looking forward now to reading the other brothers stories.
Faleena Hopkins This is a silly, popcorn book and a 2 star read. Except, it provided moving insight into the way people develop romantic relationships based on their parental relationships and the way their parents conducted themselves in romantic relationships. This was personally resonant, gratifying, and educational. It made me reflective and helped me to see myself. Thus, two stars becomes three. Faleena Hopkins I did have this at a 4 stars but after hearing that this author is trademarking the word COCKY and harassing other authors I am now giving every book I've previously read by this author a 1. That is not cool, and quiet frankly a dick move! Faleena Hopkins
Cocky Senator
(Cocker Brothers of Atlanta #5)
By Faleena Hopkins
Wow- Another fabulous Cocker Brothers book!
This story definitely captures your attention from the beginning, & does not let up…Imagine finding yourself in a airport bar & the stranger next to you is flirting with you.. And you actually take them up their flirtation. Public sex not once, but twice on a trip from Boston to Atlanta...
Now that I have your curiosity Peak.. Let me wake up your senses
You think ok that you'll never see this person again right? Well guess what these two people have more in common than you realize. First off they went high school together. .. One realize this.. The other doesn't
Second thing that might wake up your imagination or curiosity even more is.. one of these people is the current Senator's daughter other person is running for that same position... talk about conflict of interest
These two people find them self’s on campaign for election trying to control the sexual desires for each other. Which is very hard, since both seem to have control issues when it comes to the other one
Justin Cocky find out something so devastating that puts his career & dreams at risk… what will he end up doing?
This book has its usual comedy that we find with Faleena Hopkins, we also find the arrogance of Cocky alpha males, which we love… but we also find some very interesting twisted in the road
Each book can be read as a Standalone.. But honestly I have no clue why you’d do that. There might be 6 brothers, but each & every one of them has their own unique personality .. You will realize as you meet each one… I can't wait to read the next Cocker book” Cocky Soldier”, But at the same sense I can wait ,cuz that means this series will come to the end
**I voluntarily reviewed this ARC ..**

Faleena Hopkins It feels like I've read nothing but misses lately. This is another book that I had to push myself to finish.
Justin is your typical manwhore. He meets Jaime, they have a hot one night stand but he is 100% not looking for a relationship or any meaningful connection. It's just sex for him. He admits that Jaime is hot and he liked their smexy encounter but he doesn't plan to pursuer her or even get her name. He is a one and done kind of guy.
Also he is running for senator. It just so happens that his opponent is Jaime's estranged father. Things get even more awkward when Justin finds out that he has a daughter he never knew about. I found it a bit disturbing that he claims to only do ONS but the mother of his four year old was someone he slept with multiple times, so not a ONS. Then the author gives us the little detail that this not ONS was in love with the H but because of their friends with benefits status, he wouldn't want to know about the baby?!?! The only reason the H finds out about his child is because this OW died unexpectedly and the sick grandmother can't care for the baby (she has cancer and only has like six months to live.)
So while all this surprise baby thing is happening, Jaime decides to make herself indispensable for the new daddy, even though he basically wrote her off. She helps him shop, clothe and feed the new addition. As friends, because the H still doesn't want to pursue anything with her. Finally after a lot of time together, they fall into a friends with benefits thing, where Jaime spends all her free time with him and his kid, basically playing the part of mother and wife without benefit of the ring, putting her life on the back burner while giving him all her energy and attention.
This went down hill for me because I feel that if there had been no surprise baby, Justin never would have gone after Jaime. He would have stayed focused on becoming Senator and gone on living his bachelor lifestyle.
Even with the baby, it's Jaime that goes looking for him. She's the one that drops everything to help him and offer him support. It felt like she was just an easy convenience for him. When he excludes her from his family get to gather and she's clearly upset, he just cops out. I need an H that doesn't wait until 88% into the book to get his head out of his butt.
The explanation as to why he has an aversion to commitment and marriage in particular has to do with him witnessing his father having an affair (he cheated on his mother with their neighbor's wife) and out of love for his mom, he kept it a secret for 20+ years. That left a bad taste in my mouth. Especially since his heart to heart talk with his mother reveals she knew about the affair and forgave her husband of cheating. She never tells his father that she knew about the affair, instead she defends his cheating because she was a frigid catholic and he was a man with needs. Instead she decides to throw out her rigid beliefs on sex and seduce her husband back. Now that she can offer him what he was getting outside their marriage, the cheating stopped and he was never the wiser. I don't care if she has hang ups about sex, the fact is he was a married man. Vows are vows are vows. Then she goes to claim some BS that it made them stronger and more in love. How? Because her husband got his cake and ate it too? Ugh, I know this isn't about them but the fact it was made this big part of the H's commitment phobia pissed me off. Cheaters just suck and I don't enjoy reading about them, even in a round about way.
This was another romance fail for me. Faleena Hopkins
