This week in, The Brew! Apparently winter is long gone and spring is upon us. Texas Beer Guide officially launched 4yrs ago next week and time has flown by. We have met a lot of great people, enjoyed a lot of great beer and even wrote a book about the Texas beer scene. We thank you all for your support and look forward to bringing you all the news and events in the Texas craft beer scene. This week, in the spirit of celebrations, we have a lot of anniversaries to talk about. First, we give you the heads up about a Houston brewery that is marking 3yrs, an Austin brewery that is turning 5 and a Cedar Park brewpub that is celebrating their 1st year. Check it out now in this weeks edition of, The Brew!
Houston – This weekend Houston’s 8th wonder of the world, 8th Wonder Brewery is celebrating their 3rd year anniversary. If you are not familiar with 8th Wonder, they make great beer and throw one hell of a party. This Saturday they will host an all day event to celebrate and they are throwing a festival like atmosphere with groups like Black Joe Lewis, the Hot 8 Brass Band and more. The event kicks off at noon and tickets are still available and attendees will score 4 beers and a limited edition 3yr pint glass. If you have extra change in your pocket then we recommend the VIP package with open bar and a pig roast. Tickets start at $30 but go up at the door if there are still any available. This will be a rain or shine celebration so dress appropriately. We would like to wish our friends with 8th Wonder a very happy 3rd anniversary and look forward to continued success going forward. Austin – As if Austin wasn’t going to be inundated with events going on for SXSW, Circle Brewing is adding another event to the mix. Luckily, the brewery isn’t located near downtown traffic shouldn’t be a concern. This Saturday, Circle Brewing is celebrating their 5th anniversary and welcoming everyone out to celebrate with them. The event takes place from 1-5pm so it will leave you plenty of time to hit your SXSW events afterwards. Tickets are only $15 which will get you an anniversary glass and 3 pours of their beer. Also, Circle will be unveiling their new Archetype Historical IPTheA which is “Adhering to historical accuracy throughout its creation, this unique beer is the result of brewery owners’ passion for the historical roots of beer and the brewery’s mission of respecting the purity of where beer started”. Do yourself a favor and take the Metro Rail and avoid traffic. Congrats to Circle Brewing team and keep making great beer. Click here for tickets and more information.
Cedar Park – If you really want to get out of Austin to avoid the SXSW madness, you might want to consider heading 45mins north to celebrate with Red Horn Coffee and Brewing Company as they mark their 1st anniversary. The party starts Friday and will end Saturday evening. They will have live music preforming through the weekend and will be tapping a bunch of specialties along with their standard rotations. Attendees can expect to find You Be Forty Belgian Red aged in Red Wine Barrels, Suburban Ninja Imperial Stout, Whiskey Barrel Suburban Ninja, Vanilla Whiskey Barrel Suburban Ninja, Wine Barrel Aged Suburban Ninja and more on tap this weekend so you will definitely not want to miss this event. There is no cover so head on our and wish them well. Congrats to the great folks at Red Horn and wish them continued success. Click here for more information.
As always, if you’re looking to get out this weekend we suggest you visit a local brewery, don’t forget that we have a list of all of the breweries near you so head over to the Breweries and Brewpubs page and go support your local brewers.
