This week in, The Brew! 2016 is off to a great start and there are so many new breweries and brewpubs on the horizon. Before we start talking about all that is to come, we have a lot to talk about coming up this weekend. This week, we talk about the big book signing taking place this weekend in Houston, we say cheers to a great brewery from Dallas that is celebrating 3yrs, we reiterate an event we talked about last week going down in San Antonio and lastly, we see what hidden brewing gem in the Hill Country is celebrating 5yrs. Check it out now in this week’s edition of, The Brew!
Houston – This weekend is a very exciting for me because I will be returning to my hometown to celebrate the release of my book Beer Lover’s Texas. We will be hosting a signing at Brazos Bookstore on Saturday at 7pm and we will have our friends from Back Pew Brewing, Town in City Brewing and SpindleTap Brewery will be joining us at the event and pouring samples of their great beers. Please come out and pick up a signed copy of the book and show your support for Texas craft beer. Click here for more info.
Dallas – If you’re in north Texas, you will not want to miss the big blow out going on at Community Beer Company on Saturday as they celebrate 3yrs. They will have over 30 beers on tap, live music, vendors and food trucks for what is expected to be a fun afternoon. The party kicks off at noon and runs until 6:30 but you must buy your tickets ahead of time because they will not be selling tickets at the door. While they will have a bunch of beers on tap, it is only fitting that you try their 3rd Anniversary beer, which is a Triple IPA that they have dubbed Triple Yessir! We would like to congratulate our friends with Community and wish them continued years of success. Click here for tickets and more info.
San Antonio – Last week we posted the event for Southerleigh Fine Food & Brewery’s head brewer, Wes Locke. We were wrong on the date and the event is taking place this weekend. This Sunday, the San Antonio craft beer community is coming together to rally for Les Locke, the head brewer at Southerleigh Fine Food & Brewery. Towards the fall of 2015 he fell into some serious health issues but he is on the road to recovery and we are glad to see him get back to his passion. Les is teaming up with Freetail Brewing at their S. Presa location to host an event to celebrate his health and they are brining other breweries along for this event. All proceeds raised through sales or donations will go directly to the Make A Wish Foundation who will be on site at the event. It takes place Sunday at 2pm. Click here for more info.
Dripping Springs – Driving through the town of Dripping Springs it can be easy to miss The Barber Shop. If you are not familiar with it, it is not a place to get a new doo but instead a cold brew. This small brewpub is celebrating 5yrs this Saturday and is reason enough to head into the Hill Country for an afternoon of “live music, great food, and lots of special beer”. You will likely find some special brews from neighboring breweries but be sure to get a taste of the beers that owner and brewer John McIntosh is brewing up. Cheers to 5yrs and may newcomers stumble in looking for a haircut for years to come. Click here for more info.
As always, if you’re looking to get out this weekend we suggest you visit a local brewery, don’t forget that we have a list of all of the breweries near you so head over to the Breweries and Brewpubs page and go support your local brewers.
