I really enjoyed this, as did my neighbour : ). Having worked in the entertainment business myself, I can totally corroborate Alan Parker's assessment(s) of the sort of people you have to deal with. English Brilliant, poignant cartoons, written and devised by a Alan Parker, film maker and acute observer of all aspects the sometimes VERY frustrating film industry! Love it! Stephen Fry said in the foreward buy three copies, no I say buy 10 and mail along with your script English Funny book, well worth a read. English A wonderful read and I now have an higher regard for Sir Alan but who is sadly no longer with us but this book of his cartoons is something of a legacy and a reminder of everything we see on the big silver screen has another (hilarious!) side to it. Brilliant and 5 stars English
Director of 14 films, including Angel Heart, The Commitments, Evita, Fame, Pink Floyd The Wall, and The Road to Wellville, Alan Parker is known for his acidic wit and uncompromising approach to filmmaking. Parker has often resorted to humor in cartoons to vent his frustrations about the business, and, to his surprise, recipients within the industry actually enjoyed and often even framed his biting messages. Studio heads, actors, and crew all come under Parker's merciless pen in this unique collection of than 200 mini masterpieces. Cinephiles will enjoy access to the directors doodles, drawings, and sketches, which have become collector's items among their often thinly veiled targets, adorning the walls of actors, producers, directors, and movie executives around the world.
