This is wonderful, clean romantic suspense with lots of suspense. I never did figure out who the perpetrator was until it was revealed at the end. Lots of twists and turns. I like suspense where I'm surprised by who the villain is. And this is set in Arizona, and that made it all the more enjoyable. I know the author, so I'm delighted to recommend this book. What Janie Saw I loved What Janie Saw! For me, it had just the right mixture of romance and suspense. I especially enjoyed the realistic way Pamela Tracy portrayed the heroine - who is a professor at a local college. When one of her students goes missing, she really cares. And as she works Detective Rafael Salazar to crack the case, their attraction is really sweet. Enough to heal each other at the same time. What Janie Saw What Janie Saw By Pamela Tracy
Scorpion Ridge, Arizona Series Book Two
Janie Vincent's life is much better these days, but she's still restless. She finally has a goal and is getting closer to it. A trip to Africa to capture the animals in the wild with her pencil and paints. Traveling. Everything changes when she sees something that puts her in danger, and worse than that—she has to be around her archenemies...cops.
Sheriff Rafe Salazar is determined to help the Travis family find closure after their daughter goes missing. He knows what it's like firsthand to not know where a loved one is. What he doesn't expect is to have Janie thrown into the investigation and needing him to protect her. Is his protection business or personal?
What a story! Just like Katie's Rescue (book one) kept the reader turning pages, this book continues in the same vein. Danger seems to suddenly explode around them, among other things. This is a great mystery filled with suspense, danger, and of course...romance. Looking forward to reading book three: Holiday Homecoming.
http://justjudysjumbles.blogspot.com/... What Janie Saw I felt like I was missing something with this one. I didn't realize there had been a previous book, Katie's Rescue and although this one could probably stand on its own, I felt like I was missing a lot of character info by not reading that one first. Even without reading the previous book, I still had a hard time connecting with the characters. I just couldn't get into the story and ended up not finishing. It felt little cheesy at times and the mystery aspect felt forced. To be fair, I didn't keep reading so maybe it got better.
Content: I stopped pretty early on, but I think its a clean read. Mild talk of murder and violence, but the romance aspect is clean. What Janie Saw Miniseries: Scorpion Ridge, Arizona What Janie Saw

The last person she wanted…was the only one who could keep her safe
Janie Vincent had no use for cops. They'd never done her any favors. But when she uncovers a lead into the disappearance of a girl at the college where she's a teaching assistant, suddenly Janie's life depends on the officers of Scorpion Ridge. And one in particular: Sheriff Rafael Salazar.
Rafe knows how much destruction a missing-persons case can cause a family, and so to solve this case, he's determined to stick to Janie like glue. She's clearly not a fan of the 24/7 surveillance, but he intends to break down her distrust. And maybe they'll discover that what Janie saw can be the key to healing them both. What Janie Saw
Serendipity - it's a wonderful thing in the book world! I needed a book set in Arizona for a GR challenge, and the one I'd picked wasn't working for me, so I turned to Overdrive and found this, by a new-to-me author that sounded interesting. And I loved it! It's a great romantic mystery, with characters I liked and a plot that really pulled me in.
There will be slight spoilers ahead:
Our heroine is a TA at the local college and one evening she pages through the art notebook of her most difficult student. What she thinks is the idea for a graphic novel turns out to the very graphic description of the murder of a young woman - one who went missing a few weeks ago from that college. When she notifies the authorities and then the notebook and its creator disappear, she's pulled into a story where no one is sure what is real and what's imagined.
I loved the layers of the book and the fact that I was constantly kept wondering what was true and what wasn't. I also loved the way the relationship worked out. What do you know, the heroine didn't have to give up her dream to keep the guy! This is a Harlequin release, and the author, it appears, also writes Christian Romance, so the story wasn't long, but it was satisfyingly complex, and the romance was clean. (There was some mention of churches but no preaching or particular references to God.) I found the balance of mystery and characters satisfying and I appreciated the lack of graphic violence, though the mystery itself was dark. Then, since I always skip the sex scenes, there was nothing to skip here so I got lots of story to enjoy. I really loved this book and will read more in the series, hoping some others might be as good.
What Janie Saw It's pretty difficult to find a good suspense (yes I mostly find the murderer in the first third of the book) romance story (okay I was not in the mood for smut and it suited me the no-smut in this book but generally I don't mind much). It kept me on my toes and, thank god, I did't see it coming. Lots of plot-twists and still very heart-warming. What Janie Saw Art teaching assistant Janie Vincent is checking her students’ art books when one student’s drawings leave her greatly disturbed. Derek's drawings seem to depict a murder scene and there is accompanying text which sounds like Derek was present at the murder. She hopes this is just made up, but she soon discovers that the referenced murder ties to a girl from the college that has gone missing. Handsome cop Rafe Salazar is working the case and is now Janie’s protector until the culprits are found.
This was such an enjoyable romantic suspense story. I really liked Janie. She worked hard with the police trying to find answers. I also liked that she painted animals, in particular the animals that were at the zoo where her sister worked. She hopes to one day paint wildlife animals in their natural habitat in South Africa. Rafe was a wonderful hero, always very protective of Janie. The secondary characters were great also, including the cops working the case, Janie’s students and fellow teachers at the college, and Janie’s sister and brother-in-law. The story was very suspenseful with a good mystery and it kept me interested and entertained throughout. What Janie Saw Mostly it has been boring.
The suspense a bit convoluted and wandering at times. Maybe a bit OTT too?
And the romance nothing of the above. There are one 3-sec kiss at 92% and, quote, the longest kiss of history at 98%.
That´s all folks.

Mayormente aburrido.
El suspense ha sido rebuscado y disperso en algunos momentos. Incluso excesivo, me arriesgaría a decir.
Y el romance nada de lo anterior. Hay un beso de 3 segundos al 92% de la historia y, y cito textualmente, el beso más largo de la historia al 98%.
Chin-Pón.
What Janie Saw Killing someone is not nearly as simple in real life as it is on television. With that opening sentence, Pamela Tracy had me hooked.
Assistant Art Instructor, Janie Vincent, is reviewing assignments in student art books, when she makes a startling discovery. Problem-student Derek's book includes text and drawings that seem to document a first-person account of a murder--of a girl who has gone missing. Is this a hoax? The fictional product of a vivid, artistic imagination? When the art book is stolen and Derek himself is murdered, law enforcement steps in.
Hunky Sheriff Rafe Salazar is encouraged that there is finally a lead to the cold case he just can't let go. He's also happy that he'll be interviewing attractive, talented Janie, with whom he had one uneventful date. He was interested--she wasn't. He realizes, he hasn't quite let that go, either.
Plenty of suspense, twists, and turns as well as romance in this Harlequin Heartwarming. It delivers what the Heartwarming brand implies - suspense without graphic gore, and romance your mom could read. Recommended for readers who enjoy well-written romantic suspense. What Janie Saw
