Unarmed Combat: Hand-to-hand Fighting Skills from the Worlds Most Elite Fighting Units (SAS and Elite Forces Guide) By Martin J. Dougherty

Really good book! Unarmed Combat: Hand-to-hand Fighting Skills from the Worlds Most Elite Fighting Units (SAS and Elite Forces Guide) Great Unarmed Combat: Hand-to-hand Fighting Skills from the Worlds Most Elite Fighting Units (SAS and Elite Forces Guide) The book covers a lot of very good techniques. Illustrations are good but unfortunately a large portion of the techniques do not have any illustrations. The book name and cover creates the impression that the techniques come from Elite forces across the world but I could not find any connection between the writer and combat forces. At some instances the writer refer to techniques such as the cross block and the jab punch as useless, where most experts would have a different opinion. This is why I have mixed feelings about the book and in my book collections I have better detailed books that cover the same topics. With some fine tuning the book would deserve 4 stars and even if the writer could validate his expertise with combat forces. Unarmed Combat: Hand-to-hand Fighting Skills from the Worlds Most Elite Fighting Units (SAS and Elite Forces Guide) This book goes into detail about unarmed COMBAT. One of the better books I've read. It goes into all aspects of this subject. Unarmed Combat: Hand-to-hand Fighting Skills from the Worlds Most Elite Fighting Units (SAS and Elite Forces Guide) ,very good book Unarmed Combat: Hand-to-hand Fighting Skills from the Worlds Most Elite Fighting Units (SAS and Elite Forces Guide)

With the aid of superb line artworks, Unarmed Combat demonstrates to the reader how special forces soldiers are taught to excel in hand to hand fighting: how they maximise bodyweight, and the use of various strikes, throws, locks and constrictions to defeat opponents. It explains how different martial arts have been combined by military units to create hand to hand combat systems for defence against multiple assailants, for fighting on the ground, for dealing with edged and impact weapons, what works against attackers with firearms and importantly what doesnt.

With tips and techniques from unarmed combat experts, the book is divided into two main sections. The first covers the mental preparation needed to be ready to defend yourself. The second covers the physical techniques needed to defend yourself, and if necessary, strike back to temporarily incapacitate your attacker and escape. With than 300 easy to follow artworks and handy pull out lists of key information, Unarmed Combat is the definitive guide for anyone wanting to be ready for anything it could save your life. Unarmed Combat: Hand-to-hand Fighting Skills from the Worlds Most Elite Fighting Units (SAS and Elite Forces Guide)

Excellent to guide to not just fighting, but how to avoid a fight. I picked it up and couldn't stop reading it. Dougherty takes a very common sense approach to self defense. The actual fighting techniques are sound and seem easy to learn. I recommend it to anyone interested in street survival. Unarmed Combat: Hand-to-hand Fighting Skills from the Worlds Most Elite Fighting Units (SAS and Elite Forces Guide) GREAT BOOK! BUY IT! Unarmed Combat: Hand-to-hand Fighting Skills from the Worlds Most Elite Fighting Units (SAS and Elite Forces Guide) Nice and clear and easy to read and follow along. Unarmed Combat: Hand-to-hand Fighting Skills from the Worlds Most Elite Fighting Units (SAS and Elite Forces Guide) This book is one of the top best complete CQC books I've ever read. As an experienced student of combat systems, this covers absolutely everything you study within close combat and self defence. Right down the the laws and regulations, emotional and phycological side of combat, as well as even conditioning yourself physically/mentally for combat, brilliant buy! First time I've ever actually found a decent book where the author really knows what he is talking about! SPEAR System is very relevant here, but it's actually an overall street survival guide. It's not all just about fighting techniques, there is a lot on evasion and common sense/awareness. Which is pretty fantastic. Unarmed Combat: Hand-to-hand Fighting Skills from the Worlds Most Elite Fighting Units (SAS and Elite Forces Guide) This book is a rip off. It has been put together by amber books using the information and some of the prints from Lofty Wisemans book SAS and special forces self defence. They have just changed the names of some of the techniques to make it look like the author knows than what he does.
If you want just one book get the original book by Lofty and not the copy.
If you believe that by reading this book you can go out and disarm a man with a loaded gun, then think again, the same goes for a knife, be prepared to be cut or worse. Unarmed Combat: Hand-to-hand Fighting Skills from the Worlds Most Elite Fighting Units (SAS and Elite Forces Guide)
