SUMMARY Triptych: Three Studies of Manic Street Preachers The Holy Bible

Let's get straight to the point. You are considering this book for the sole reason you are a Manics and/or Holy Bible fanatic. You should be aware up front that the authors all state they either stopped listening to the Manics early on, thought they turned rubbish quickly, and have been an embarrassment for years. That's how big of a fan they all are.Secondly, they're all either seemingly from America and live in America, from America and moved late to the UK, or from the UK but moved early to America. This is the background on which they choose to educate us on life in the Welsh valleys, British politics, culture and public sentiment, and the context of the Manics within the UK and its music scene over the years, as well as what drove Welsh Richard and Welsh Nicholas into writing what they did. What they can also do is go way too far into detail on subjects and books that the lyrics of The Holy Bible barely touch on, yet this lot can write a good finger's worth of pages waffling on about one book which may or may not have had an influence on ooooh maybe one line on the album. It shows how clever the authors are and that they know about books. If reading about books is your thing, this might interest you. If you want to read about The Holy Bible I say steer clear. It really is dull and frankly irritating in how detached the authors are from having ANY clue what, where, who, how and why. 1910924989 Excellent product. 1910924989 Really well written. Shows the author's understanding and love for the band and their music, but doesn't paint them, especially Richey, out to be whiter than white in an attempt to garner sympathy. Really good read. 1910924989 As a young man the manic spoke to me in a manner the other music of the day didn't. Seeing faster on top of the pops was an epiphany for me and since then the manics have been a part of my life. This book adds to my own knowledge of my obsession. I love it. 1910924989 Great read, a must for every manics fan 1910924989
