Melanie Dickerson's book The Silent Songbird is a retelling of the story The Little Mermaid by Hans Christian Anderson. My favorite Disney princess growing up was Ariel, so I was very excited to read this story. This book is also part of Dickerson's fairy tale collection, 304 pages Author Melanie Dickerson continues her tradition of adapting classic fairy tales with The Silent Songbird, based on The Little Mermaid. I'll be honest: I had to go to Dickerson's website to look up which fairy tale she was retelling because, halfway through the 304 pages The Silent Songbird is Melanie Dickerson's most recent novel, and is a book I was very excited for! She writes some of the best historical fiction I've ever read and the best fairy tale retellings so I'm always happy to get an opportunity to read some of her writing, and 304 pages I have to admit, I wasn't sure that I would like The Silent Songbird by Melanie Dickerson. I was hooked withing the first few pages and I couldn't put it down. This is the first book I've read by Melanie, but I can promise, it will not be the last. Set in England in the 304 pages Another enchanting, romantic Young Adult fairytale retelling from Melanie Dickerson! Evangeline, a young woman with a beautiful voice (and the ward of King Richard), is kept in a castle but longs to go out into the world. She finds her chance when she must escape 304 pages

Right from the beginning we see that Evangeline is a tough and 304 pages Evangeline is the King Richard’s cousin. Her beautiful singing voice is the jewel of the land, and she is admired by noblemen and peasants alike. But Evangeline has a problem. As the King’s cousin she is used to ‘reward’ Lord Shiveley through marriage. Lord Shiveley is 304 pages The Silent Songbird is a retelling of The Little Mermaid, though it's been so long since I've read that and Melanie Dickerson does such an extraordinary job of putting her own spin on the classic fairy tales, that I wouldn't have known if I hadn't read it in the author's 304 pages
