Ok, I just have to say, even though I'm only about 180 pages in, I CRIED when she found her dad's car after the tornado. Having lost my father 10 years ago, I can empathize with Amy. The way this story does and captures you is amazing and I'm NOT a romance novel reader. I'm more a horror / Dean Koontz/ King person. Beth is definitely a talented writer and I am SO reading more of her works! 0373278977 Not having read the first two books I can easily say this book can be read without getting lost or needing to go back to the first two. It may be part of a 3 book series, but this last book is a completely new start. 0373278977 Grant Mansfield is still getting over the death of his wife in a car bombing a year ago, at the hands of William Gale. Amy Robinson is still dealing with the sexual abuse she suffered at the hands of her stepfather David Holland when she was a teenager, plus the fact her mother took his side, not hers.

Now, David has just gotten out on parole and back with Amy's mother. Amy, a smoke jumper, has broken her ankle and returned home, but now can't stay with her mother. After her car breaks down, she encounters Grant, and circumstances see her staying with him and his two daughters, Peyton and Kaylee. Attraction develops between them, but Grant can't see himself falling for a woman whose job puts her in danger every day, whereas Amy is determined to return to her old life once Grant fixes her car. Trouble strikes when William Gale is let out of prison, and then Peyton is kidnapped. Which adversary from their pasts is the one responsible?

I actually quite enjoyed this romantic suspense tale! I really liked the characters, and thought that the conflict preventing their union was believable and interesting. Sometimes I did get the feeling that David wasn't over his dead wife enough, and probably never would be, but that's generally how I find any romance that involves a protagonist with a dead spouse. It's a tricky situation to write about, and not many authors get it right! Kaylee the baby was adorable, and Peyton made for a believable 7-year-old. She was a bit annoying, but hey - that's kids!

I was also pleased that this avoided the common situation in thrillers that involve kidnapped children - the main characters still finding the time and inclination to have sex. I've never bought it! How could you, possibly? Here, the focus is always on finding Peyton. So if you like your Romantic Suspense with steamy sex (and this line is generally steamier than Intrigue), be warned you won't find any here!

An enjoyable read, after a rather unfortunately long run of clunkers! 0373278977 I really like both Amy and Grant as characters, esp. Amy, who kicks ass, but the plot for this one is just too convenient (and thus unbelievable). I wanted to like it, but really it was pretty unimpressive. The second book of the series is the strongest, though even it has some significant WTF plot moments. 0373278977 I don't want pedophiles in my romance books.

Harlequin Romantic Suspense December 2014 0373278977

This was such a good book. There were twists and turns throughout the story that kept the reader engrossed. The heartbreak of Grant losing his first wife and trying to help his daughter deal with the loss will bring a tear to your eye. Amy who has always been a survivor added a great mix to Grant's little family and following along as she and Grant face one situation after another has the reader pulling for their happy ending. Loved, loved, loved this book! 0373278977 The flirtatious banter between Grant and Amy shines and emotionally complex characters complete a well-developed, heartfelt plot (RT Book Reviews, 4 1/2 stars).

Miniseries: The Mansfield Brothers 0373278977 Amy injured from her Smoke Jumping job goes back home only to find out that her abusive step father is there. Fleeing from the house she comes to find out that her car isn't as reliable as she hoped breaking down by the side of the road. Thankfully Grant Mansfield was there to help her and offer her a place to stay while he helps repair his house. Grant is a widow who is still dealing with the grief of his wife passing, taking care of his children on his own and having his nanny quit. Amy offers much needed help and things between them seem to heat up.

So apparently I managed to find myself reading the third book without checking out the previous ones. the way each character mention took thier place I can see that there is a back story to a couple of the characters in this book that are in the other books. I'll be sure to check out those later. But did not feel like it impacted much on the story, its a stand alone for those who are willing to check out this book before getting to the previous ones.

There was so many things I loved about this book. I loved the characters for one getting to know their unique background and seeing how they worked together and find love. I loved that there was more then one point of view of the main characters as well as the child. I loved the storyline and the suspence of wondering who took the child and how things would play out. I loved how the author described everything in great detail that I was able to picture this story as if it was a movie playing in my mind. I also liked that even though there was romance in the book it was clean. Overall I really enjoy this book and recommend you lovely readers to check it out. 0373278977 The Mansfield Rescue is by Beth Cornelison. It is the second book in The Mansfield Brothers series. It is great as a stand-alone book as well. The characters are well developed and the plot is well written.

It is a great little book and a quick read.
0373278977 Loved Amy and Grants story and how they were given a 2nd chance at love, great conclusion and great series I'll definitely plan to read again soon! 0373278977
