The Lorax (Classic Seuss) By By Dr. Seuss
Celebrate Earth Day with Dr. Seuss and the Lorax in this classic picture book about protecting the environment!
I am the Lorax. I speak for the trees.
Dr. Seusss beloved story teaches kids to speak up and stand up for those who cant. With a recycling friendly Go Green message, The Lorax allows young readers to experience the beauty of the Truffula Trees and the danger of taking our earth for granted, all in a story that is timely, playful and hopeful. The books final pages teach us that just one small seed, or one small child, can make a difference.
Printed on recycled paper, this book is the perfect gift for Earth Day and for any childor child at heartwho is interested in recycling, advocacy and the environment, or just loves nature and playing outside.
Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. Its not.
Pretty much all the stuff you need to know is in Dr. Seuss. President Barack Obama The Lorax (Classic Seuss)

My grandson and I have watched the Lorax movie too many times to count and I was excited to get the book to read at night. But come to find out the book stops at the Truffula trees all being cut down and the only seed being given to Ted The End. It doesn't go into the seed being planted and the trees coming back. Maybe that's too long of a story but the best part for my grandson (from the movie) was that the good deed of planting the only seed left was showing that the Truffula trees were going to come back where it didn't show that in the book it just kinda left it for me to explain. Again, maybe that's originally the end of the book and the movie expanded on that but I think we'll just keep watching the movie. 978-0394823379 I could not be disappointed in the publisher's choice to drastically alter this story for this publishing. I purchased this book for our son and hoped to receive the same story I had been read as a child, but huge chunks of the narrative have just been heavy handedly deleted, along with the lovely illustrations which once accompanied those sections. Many of my favourite moments of the original are altogether missing, and the characters and story have lost so much of their texture and personality, it's a terrible shame. It should be clearly stated on this page that the book is abridged. Not only abridged, but abridged much to its detriment I'm sad to say.
Further, what illustrations are left have been awkwardly and often clumsily cropped into new dimensions, cutting out masses of Seuss' original drawings and generally messing up what used to be lovely balanced and detailed compositions. If you're buying this book for the art as well as the story, you should know that this book just wrecks the half of the illustrations which haven't been cut out entirely.
Please find yourself a complete copy and experience this book the way Dr. Seuss intended. I'm horrified to imagine what the author would think of this blundersome hack job edit of one of the great children's masterpieces. 978-0394823379 Book is printed upside down. Bought this as a gift for a young child, and I can't give them an upside down book (even if it is Dr Seuss)! Is there no quality control on this product?
It's nice that the book is printed on recycled paper. Other than the incorrect orientation, the quality of the book is generally good, save for some pages with white space where the printer doesn't seem to have lined up correctly. 978-0394823379 This is a lovely book kooky Seuss charm and some strong environmental and commercial messages. It's about as subtle as a brick through a window, but kids often like clear messages, and my son has definitely picked up on them! It's sparked some great conversations in our house and the characters are strong, interesting and flawed, which is still not that common in a children's book.
Revisiting this book as an adult, you realise that it's a very well written story about family, commercialisation, the environment and redemption (I mean, it's not Of Mice and Men, but you know). It's one of the Seuss books that's appropriate for older children. Finally, coming up with lots of other things you could use a Thneed for is now a family joke, and a very creative one! 978-0394823379 My daughter's favorite book, so it gets a lot of air time in our house. A classic Seuss book, and like all Seuss books, I find it a little long. I am not a huge fan of the bit when the Once ler tells the Lorax to shut up but, we just make sure to read that part through very quickly in hopes that it won't get repeated. 978-0394823379
This is a beautiful book with a great message that I want my son to learn. However, if your young reader is a huge Dr. Seuss fan, as my son is, be aware that this book has a deep message about the catastrophic effects of not being sustainable and ravaging the natural resources our planet offers us. It may have been too much for my compassionate and sensitive 5 year old. At the end of the book he just stared at the last page for a minute then burst out crying saying he did not like the book. He cried for a long time. He was worried about the silly trees and all the animals. All the other Dr. Seuss books we own are silly, rhyme and leave him feeling happy. I’m putting it away for now and trying again to read it with him when he’s a bit older. 978-0394823379 My daughter first saw the movie, which I always watch with her and we both love it. This was her Christmas gift. The book does not talk about the Thneedville at all. This could confuse a kid. The book is written in rhymes and actually helped me better understand the movie. Overall, good book, we ready it often. 978-0394823379 May 11, 2017
Dear Reader,
In our opinion, we think you should read “The Lorax”.
It has really fun rhymes. One example of this is when he wrote “nail and sail”. He even had characters called Barbaloots who were in Barbaloot Suits. It teaches you an important lesson. Specifically, it teaches us to not cut down many trees. That’s why you should read “The Lorax” to your class or kids.
Sincerely,
Mrs. West’s 2nd Grade Superhero Class 978-0394823379 Best books ever! You pulled Dr Seuss Books, You can’t stay out of politics. Every family should have this as a staple in their home. It is so relevant to the world today that it is almost inconceivable that it was written in 1971, 46 years ago. The environmental issues alone are a must read for everyone. Get it for a very young child so they can begin to learn responsibility now for the world we live in. 978-0394823379
