great book. Paperback David Mitchell's book is different, but I really like it that way. David is great at describing places and has a wonderful sense of humor, which shines through the text. I am also using Laurent Martres's excellent book Photographing the Southwest Vol 2 Arizona as a reference. To help tie both of those together, a full sized Rand McNally Road Atlasbetween all 3 I'm hoping that this East Coast guy does well on a 2 week photo trip to Az. Paperback Beautiful book. Includes maps, directions, local attractions, a lot of history, two dozen always scenic and usually historic drives, short hikes, and sidebars alerting travelers to shopping ops and local curiosities. Photography by award winning Arizona Highways photographers. Enjoyable reading. David Mitchell's writing style is humorous, cosmopolitan. Even armchair travelers will be entertained. this read like a chamber of commerce article: bring your money and shop, shop, shop. Not what I wanted. I want to make an itinerary for my family to go on vacation so I thought an Insider's Guide would help me pick less crowded and interesting things that my family would like and be able to do with our age/interest range. This was not the book. I will try frommer's. Paperback excellent book Paperback Insiders arizona guidebook is an excellent resource when exploring the beautiful state ; however is a bit difficult to follow as it jumps back & forth at times. A bit difficult to follow if the reader is unfamiliar to the regions. I utilized a map to use as a resource as the ones in the book were difficult to follow. The book elaborates on some areas while missing some extremely interesting visitor spots.
We did however extensively tour several areas & found the guide to be helpful. Paperback
