I needed this book for a graduate class in employment law. As the class is not part of a law school program, I think the book is excellent. Everything is explained in plain English, not in confusing legal verbiage. I am learning a lot from it and plan to hold on to it for use after the class is over. I used the book in an atypical fashion and read it the entire way through, so I did notice some repeat and redundent information in reading it cover to cover. However, it is still a great reference guide for those HR professionals who want a go to manual on the basics of the major laws governing employment in the U.S. The authors divide the book into clearly defined sections, with a lot of white space, so it is very easy to find the various requirements and exceptions to the laws. What I found most useful were the various websites they listed in each chapter where you can go to find detailed information on the law and where to find the posters if needed for the law. The authors don't pretend to be the one and only source for employment law due to its complex nature, but they do point you in the direction of additional information.
