The Descent (Fallen Angel #2) By Amelita Rae

The conclusion of Fallen Angel reveals the tragic backstory of the beautiful Mishka and his childhood protector Sergei, who loved him more than life itself and believed his love to be unreturned. No matter how many years stretched out between them, his unrequited love never died. It hid in the darkness of his heart, curled and wounded, but not beaten, waiting for the day when he could finally claim that which he wanted most- Mishka himself- no matter the cost.

Descent is the story of how the brightest love turned into the darkest obsession... and how sometimes the best of intentions, can have the worst of consequences. This unique story by best-selling author Amelita Rae is not for everyone. It explores the darkest corners of the human heart and the most twisted versions of love. You will not forget the Fallen Angel. The Descent (Fallen Angel #2)

Amelita Rae ¹ 6 summary

I had to read this because the first book just ended. It was fascinating and I loved the first part of the story. But then the constant fighting got to be really tiresome and it was like the author was just trying to write as bizarre book as she could. English Oh my, this woman darkness and depravity are just right up my alley!

So I'm not gonna lie, when I opened to the first page and it said fourteen years earlier, I closed the book and didn't pick it back up for a day. I was not in the mood for a flashback! But I acquiesced. And I'm so glad I did. It's actually the entire first half of the book that goes back and explains everything. Which was amazing, and I never thought I feel so much for Sergei!

After reading such horrible, torturous, and rapey things that Sergei did to Mishka, to then go back and learn about their strong connection... of course it was all still terrible, but it just put everything into such a different perspective. Really interesting to go through those emotions. That being said, it probably could have ended a few chapters earlier.

So I liked the second half, seeing them both finally realize what had happened. But it was also pretty painful and frustrating, to realize it was all a huge comedy of errors... well, tragedy of errors. And I wanted to smack them both. But what's done is done. I will say, Mishka seemed to give in too easily, even with the new information, it seemed oddly out of character and a little too easy. However, I lurved all the deep and dark and obsessive and ridiculous declarations of love and devotion in the last chapter. So, brava Ms. Rae.

P.S. props, because I was totally wrong about my predictions from book 1! English I was going to wait until tomorrow to read this but after reading book 1 and not knowing a bloody thing I had to read this, luckily it's a relatively short read.

Things are explained in this book, you can feel the depth of emotion between these two characters, the love they have for each other was just too obvious to be ignored. What I especially loved was the end, Sergei has been this obsessive alpha man so seeing him so broken up and really needing Mishka was enough to make this reader like him more.

Thanks to Shin Mon for recommending this series. <3 English Wow . . . I don't even know what to think about this book. Dark doesn't begin to describe the obsession Sergei had for Mishka. Insane obsession. Ms. Rae gave a warning and she wasn't kidding. English Wow

What a beautiful and crazy love story. I didn't know where it was in part one, but everything came together so beautifully in part 2. Wow! English

If I have started to have more respect for Miss Rae's work after her beloved series, this book made her earned my utmost respect. Wow .. what a book! And what a story! Frankly, many people believed that Yaoi is kind of a cheap and fun literature and though I never believed in the former, I always thought these novels are just for fun. But this story completely changed it for me. Miss Rae has proved it for me that not only she was good at leaving us readers hot and bothered and lusty but also she's very good at manipulating our poor souls into feeling myriad emotions of sadness, happiness and even some morality.

This story is so twisted and dark. Though I immensely enjoyed the first book too, I couldn't understand many parts because it was simply unexplained. The first book mostly consists of sexual abuse and a mad kidnapper who's obsessed with a stripper though we don't know why. Oh! Boy boy boy! What a marvelous revelation in book 2.

I won't lie but I'm embarrassed because I cried like a baby when Sergei was telling his story. I felt his emotions, his fear and his obsessions like my own. The part where he left Angel (I prefer that then calling him Mishka) at the boarding school, I had to bite my pillow from bellowing because I was worried my maid would think that I've gone crazy when she heard me sobbing like a kid. It was so beautifully written, so heart-shattering and twisted and very Very dark yet feels right in every way. I hope to see more of Miss Rae's work in such story telling. Don't get me wrong. I love her lusty parts but her story delivering art for this book was impeccable.

Some of my favorite excerpts from this book are

“There was no way to adequately describe the pain that comes with knowing that you mean nothing to the person who meant everything to you.”

“Even a demon could grow wings and rise to the sunlight, if it wanted to fly badly enough.”

“He was like a bird, so in love with its Master that it would remain still and silent and offer up its own beautiful wings to be clipped, if only its Master might pet it and call it beloved.”

I'd give this book 10 stars if it's possible .. ❤️

Well done Miss Rae .. well done!!! 👏👏👏 English I like how it seemed like these characters, in particular Sergei, were going to be redeemed, then everything completely backtracked. Characters who kidnap and abuse the loves of their lives cannot be redeemed and it frustrates me when they are.

You cannot undo that shit!

What I do like is when the fucked-upness is embraced, both characters know it's there, know it's fucked up but choose to stay anyway. That was how these two ended and I dug it!

Super fun (super twisted) series! English What a complicated mess this relationship was but it so worked for Mishka and Sergei 😳. It was sad and beautiful this journey was and I was so happy I read it. 😊 English Mishka and Sergei relationship is crazy. They are comply obsessed with each other. Because they have been forced apart so many times. It's works for them but Its hard to read at some points. They both are very sweet to each other but in their own possessive/loving way.

Mishka turned and took a bottle from the nightstand. He tapped out one and then two pills into his hand. Sergei opened his mouth obediently like a hungry baby bird. Mishka dropped them inside and they landed on his tongue. Sergei waited patiently, he did not swallow. Mishka leaned forward so his mouth was over Sergei’s and then he spit into it. Sergei washed his medicine down with globs of Mishka’s saliva. It was the only way he would take the bitter pills.

I have a lot of respect for Amelita Rae. She always give me a new perspective. I've almost read all of her books. I'm slowly savoring the last of her books. Because I don't know if she will publish any more.
English 4.5 insanely crazy stars

Great ending. Told from Sergei's POV, you get to feel his love, obsession, and his insanity. Be prepared for a dark and crazy ride.

I highly recommend for those who like to walk on the wild side. Enjoy!!! English
