The Beekeeper of Aleppo: The Sunday Times Bestseller and Richard Judy Book Club Pick eBook : Lefteri, Christy As we sit in relative safety and watch and listen to news reports on the number of illegal migrants entering our country or Europe, we are usually not exposed to the true humanity of the crises. Instead, the migrant situation is a flashpoint political topic. This book instead offers a glimpse into what individuals must go through to leave dangerous conditions and try to find a peaceful existence somewhere in the world, where they and their families are safe, like us. For me, this story was eye opening. It helped me comprehend the absolute desperation of these people and how much they've lost and sacrificed. I hope we can demonstrate compassion while developing some solutions for these people without sacrificing the safety we have and that most of them seek. Thank you, Ms. Lefteri.
