Sloan is the Beta for the Suncrest Valley pack. Marcus left his pack, White Valley, and started a new life by joining Suncrest and opening his own business in town.

Despite Marcus not being able to scent Sloan he's drawn to him like a magnet. As is Sloan to Marcus. When someone starts vandalizing the pack's garden and a business in town they're setting up Marcus to take the fall for it. Even though they aren't mates Sloan knows it wasn't Marcus and won't stand for it.

I really wish I had read this first book in the series... well, first. Instead of reading the later books first and the first one last. It explained everything about the lack of scent that came up in all the later books, so I didn't fully understand it until now.

I love Marcus and Sloan as characters and lovers. I didn't feel their relationship as deeply as some of the others in the series, but it was still a great story. 9781627415040
