Super Sloth By Robert Starling
An ordinary sloth finds a comic book abandoned in his neck of the forest-- and it inspires him to fight crime himself! Everyone's mangoes are getting snatched by a greedy anteater... and Super Sloth never catches him in time. Little do the forest critters know that Super Sloth has a super slow and successful plan up his sleeve... Bright and adorable, I love this sneaky superhero! Robert Starling The story was okay, not great. But I much enjoyed the illustrations and all the fabulous rainforest animals included! Pink fairy armadillos, tapir, capybara, and more! Robert Starling A sloth’s curiosity is piqued when he finds a book about a superhero. He can do that, too! Despite his limits (such as his slowness) he manages to set right a wrong caused by a mango-stealing anteater. Fun combination of following a dream and playing to your strengths. Includes sloth facts on the endpapers. Robert Starling Sloth lives an ordinary life in the jungle until one day he discovers a comic book and decides to transform himself into Super Sloth! When Anteater steals all of the mangoes from the other jungle animals, can Super Sloth save the day? This comedic story of an unlikely hero shows that all one needs to save the day is to be oneself. The illustrations play a major part in the comedy of the story with its bright color palette and lushly detailed jungle setting. Starling contrasts the focus of the illustrations by switching between the jungle environment and bland white backgrounds to focus on the expressions on the animals’ faces, lending to the comic style of the writing. There are pages with multiple pictures, evoking the feel of a comic book. Back matter includes several interesting facts about sloths with corresponding illustrations. Robert Starling One day, Sloth sees a strange leaf on the forest floor - it's actually a super hero comic book. After reading it, Sloth decides he can be a superhero, he already has a mask - all he needs is a cape. But when Sloth is too slow to stop Anteater from stealing everyone's mangoes, he has to use his stealth and invisibility to save the day.
Oh my! I laughed out loud and had to share this book with the people around me as I read. So funny and educational - the end papers have some very interesting sloth facts. I'm reading it again right away - - very slowly this time.

Review Super Sloth
Super Sloth isn’t fast. He can’t fly. But he is very, very good at moving slowly and looking just like a greenish bit of tree. When his arch enemy Anteater makes off with some prize mangoes, Super Sloth vows to save the day... eventually.
From the creator of Waterstones Prize shortlisted Fergal is Fuming comes Starling’s laugh-out-loud tale of one ordinary sloth turned super hero.

Winter break bookaday #10. Who doesn’t love sloths & superheroes? Extra sloth facts on the back endpages. Robert Starling This is such a funny picture book and with a great message for kids too! One day Sloth finds an interesting looking leaf. The leaf ends up being a comic book which shows a superhero saving the day, and once Sloth’s reads it he wants to help the other animals in the jungle and so becomes a superhero himself, Super Sloth! When an animal is in need of his help, Super Sloth wants to come to the rescue, there’s just one problem though…it takes him a very long time to get there.
This is a brilliant picture book that just made me laugh out loud while reading it! The book is around A4is in height bit a bit bigger and wider and the front cover has a star shape cut out of it so you can see Super Sloth on the first page of the book. The book is filled with thick matt pages of some very fun illustrations and text. The story is so funny, Sloth decides to become Super Sloth after reading a comic, but the problem is that super sloth is incredibly slow and can’t do the things that superheroes do like fly. But that doesn’t mean that Sloth can’t end up being a hero, and when something is stolen from the other animals in the jungle, Sloth ends up using his unique Sloth skills to save the day. I won’t say exactly what happens as it’s so funny to read and see what Sloth ends up doing. There is a funny ending, and that last page of the story just made me laugh so much, especially with the expressions on the animals pictured there.
The illustrations are so great and there are plenty of fun details to spot in each picture. I love how colourful everything is and how expressive all the animals look. There’s something about this sort of illustration that just makes me smile so much. It really does add to the humour and fun of Super Sloth’s story. At the end of the book there are some fun facts about sloths, even some I didn’t know and I do know a lot of animal facts. I do like these as it can help kids to learn more about these interesting and different looking animals and there are some great illustrations that accompany these facts.
Overall this is such a funny story with some brilliant illustrations and a great message for children, showing how we all have unique things we can do, unique skills and we should be proud of them and who we are. 🙂 It’s definitely a book that will put a smile on your face and make you laugh and one that I would recommend.

One day whilst hanging in his tree Sloth see’s something on the floor and goes to investigate. It is a comic book with a caped crusader. Sloth read the comic over and over and decided he wanted to be a superhero.
After finding something to use as a cape, Sloth went in search of animals needing his help and it wasn’t long until he could hear cries of help coming from the forest floor, but will Sloth be any good as a superhero and save the day or will he be too slow to be any help?
Super Sloth is young children’s picture book that is a fun read and contains some fabulous, colourful, and full-page artwork that brightens up the pages. I love that the book is about one of the slowest animals wanting to be a superhero, but you know speed isn’t everything! Sloth is such a loveable character and you can’t help warming to him.
I think children will love this book and find it amusing. How often do they get to read books featuring a sloth? Kids also get to read about some sloth facts at the back of the book. An amazing story and one that is educational too – brilliant! Robert Starling This book is hilarious and deserving of every single one of those five stars. The illustrations are beautiful, the story is so fun and the sloth is genuinely so likeable I can imagine an entire series about him being a complete joy to children.
The sloth stumbles across a story about a superhero one day in the forest and decides that he wants to be a superhero too. So he dons a cape, discovers a cheeky anteater stealing everyone’s fruit and does everything within his power (which takes some time since he is a sloth and therefore is particularly slow to do just about everything!) to get that fruit back for everyone.
It’s just laugh out loud funny, the narrative is perfect for children and adults and the sloth-related humour really was brilliant. Buy it. Don’t even hesitate.
