Fun and quick book that provided depth to the characters and the world. Read it in a few hours. Brandon Sanderson, Janci Patterson Showing us what’s up with the other members of Skyward flight whilst Spin is off on her solo adventures, this book made me laugh out loud, wan essential read for fans of the series Brandon Sanderson, Janci Patterson Loved the idea of having novellas between the main books so we could explore other characters! A fulfilling read, fast paced, and definitely worth the wait! Brandon Sanderson, Janci Patterson This is a great addition to the Skyward series. Can't wait to get these in print. Looking forward to the next two! Brandon Sanderson, Janci Patterson I love the idea of interim novellas from the perspectives of characters other than the protagonist yet still advancing the plot Brandon Sanderson, Janci Patterson
I’ve been hyping these novellas a lot lately but I promise I have good reasons, one of them being these books are my FAVORITE.
Skyward is one of the only books I’ve ever read where it was like *this* is the feeling I want to give people when they read my books. The mystery, the teamwork, the emotion, the slow burn romance, it was everything.
The sequel, Starsight, was a good story, but it didn’t give me the feeling I got when I read Skyward. That saddened me.
But SUNREACH brings it back. It has everything I loved about Skyward and . FM is a fantastic character, the mysteries they solve are intriguing, the battles are exciting and the stakes are high.
Janci Patterson really took what made Skyward amazing and brought it through to this book, and I’m THRILLED it’s finally out.
So go buy it, read it, and preorder the next ones: ReDAWN and EVERSHORE. They read like three parts of one story. If you enjoy young adult scifi or fantasy with adventure, mystery, and romance, you’ll love this series—particularly these novellas. Brandon Sanderson, Janci Patterson I loved this novella!!! The little creatures were awesome! It was fun to learn about the other pilots and what was happening at home. I loved the interactions between the creatures and FM as they learned to communicate, their names, the relationships. Rig was awesome too! Great book! I can't wait for the next one! Brandon Sanderson, Janci Patterson I've been eagerly hanging out for Cytonic and this novella is great. It's the same characters, different point of view, and fills in what Skyward Flight has been doing in between books two and three. It gives flavor of the Honestly, I love this series. I'm not YA (nearly 40, doesn't matter how old you are) but love science fiction and how a good writer gets you in there, gripping your seat and imagining flying. Brandon Sanderson is an author I have to (sigh) pace myself at reading otherwise I'll disappear into a book for hours. BTW if you ever read this Brandon, super THANK YOU for the signed Skyward and Starsight books. Brandon Sanderson, Janci Patterson Good job, Brandon and Janci. A very nice addition to this series.
Everyone who liked the first 2 books, read this story. Brandon Sanderson, Janci Patterson I enjoyed this adorable interlude about the other characters from Skyward. Especially from FM's perspective.
I took away 1 star because I seriously disapproved of how Jorgen's mother Jeshua Weight is portrayed in the story. I refuse to believe that a woman who raised a son that was as tactically thoughtful (willing to hang back and study a situation i.e., Skyward or Spend 5 minutes helping Spensa decide to take Alanik's place i.e., Starsight ) and by the book as Jorgen clearly is, would behave in an aggressive antagonistic way. Using his mother like that instead of bringing back a known antagonistic character (like Judy Ivans or Dia Vmeer the daughter of Spensa’s school teacher) is an opportunity that has now been lost. Maybe you have to be a mother to know that neither children nor apples fall very far from their trees. I want to believe that this is equally true for those who are born from those who are genetically Cytonic.
Overall, getting to spend some time with the Skyward characters was terrific and I do actually love this book and there are many fantastic moments where I laughed out loud and the author did a great job using/capturing the voices of Brandon Sanderson's characters. This book has so many great moments that you will be happy that you took the time to enjoy it! DEFINITELY READ THE BOOK!!!
My only grip is the fact that I am a Mom and this is a Young Adult fiction book and the last thing real mom's need is for 1 mother to be vilified in fiction (because it translates into the mind of the readers). Brandon Sanderson, Janci Patterson
