A.L. Jackson ë 1 REVIEW

“All moments matter. We just rarely know how important they are until the chance to act on them has already passed.”

I have not read an A.L. Jackson book in what feels like a lifetime and right now I am kicking myself because this woman can serious write. This story had all the ingredients of a great romance for me; a hot tortured hero who is good with his hands, a strong heroine who can be feisty at times, a bit of angst, a pinch of intrigue and some seriously hot and steamy sexy times. I loved this story and if the rest of the books in the Fight for Me series are half as good as Show Me the Way, then we are in for a cracker of a series and I’m already anticipating the release of book 2 Follow Me Back.

A few years back Rynna packed her bags and turned her back on her home and the only family she has ever known, her Gramma. She did this because of a traumatic turn of events; it was the only way she knew how to deal with what had happened and the only way she knew how to move forward and deal with the pain she was going through. While she was away, not a day went by where she didn’t think or speak to her Gramma.

Rynna has now returned home after the passing of her Gramma, but with her return are also the painful memories of her past life there and things are about to get even more complicated when she sees her brooding new neighbor, Rex Gunner.

“He needed someone to revive his faith just as desperately as I did. Because looking at him? I suddenly knew he had none of it. That something had gone dim inside of him. That was the thing about chances. We didn’t know their outcomes. If we’d succeed or if we’d fail. It didn’t matter. I had to take a chance on him.”

Rex is a beautifully tortured soul and has been through so much pain. The only females he will give his time for are his daughter and his mother. He doesn’t trust women and has sworn off them completely. His daughter is his whole life and he won’t let anything or anyone come in and destroy what they have.

After meeting his neighbor, Rynna, he can’t deny the feelings she brings out in him and he doesn’t trust himself around her, so he does the only plausible thing he can do; he pushes her away.

Rynna is drawn to Rex like a magnet, not only is he the most beautiful man she’s ever seen but she can feel his pain, anger and bitterness rolling off of him. She would like nothing more than to ease the pain he is feeling and attempt to heal this beautifully broken man.

The attraction and chemistry Rynna and Rex felt towards each other was electric and the push and pull between them kept me enthralled with anticipation. They have both been through so much pain and suffering and I wanted nothing more than to see them heal and learn to love again. They were just the perfect couple and I was desperate for them to get their HEA.

One of my most favorite characters whilst reading this story has to be hands down Rex’s little girl, Frankie. She literally stole the show for me and I could just imagine this little innocent firecracker in a pink tutu that has yet to be tainted by this world.

This was such a beautifully written and emotionally driven story about second chances at love and learning to overcome all the pain and hurt. I became addicted to this relatively slow burn romance story from the first page and just couldn’t get enough of these tortured characters and watching their relationship change, it was beautiful watching them learning to trust again. I would absolutely recommend this story to all fans of second chance love stories and I predict Rex Gunner will melt your heart.

As much I loved the audiobook, I really struggled with the story itself. I know when I read a book, it’s not real life, and I try to remember that to gauge my reaction🙄. But this story had a few of my pet peeves.
• It annoys the heck out of me when the h/H pushes the other away because they are stuck in their past. He/She feels they are messed up and can’t be fixed
• Lack of communication between h/H that lead to the big uh-oh moment. Really?

On the plus side, I did like the heroine, Rynnna. There was only one time that I questioned her judgement, otherwise, her character was growing and becoming the person she wanted to be.

As always, kudos to two of my favorite narrators, Andi Arndt and Zachary Webber. 1946420042 Rex is mine. No seriously … MINE. Corinne and Rex are perfection together.

^^^ and I have a screenshot where she confirms this.

AL Jackson’s poetic words, complex characters, emotional storyline, and off the charts chemistry made Show Me the Way one of my favorite reads of 2017. This book is absolutely perfect.

You make me feel like every chance is one worth taking. Like you’re leading me out of the darkness that’s ruled my life. When I close my eyes, who I see is you. Show me the way, Rynna. Show me the way out of it. Fuck. Please, show me the way.”

Can someone please tell me why I've gone this long without reading another AL Jackson book? Because I'm seriously disappointed it myself. This book reminded me all the reasons that made me fall in love with this author's words and made me fall in love all over again. Show Me The Way was a beautiful and highly emotional story of love and second chances. It was perfectly paced, with just the right amount of angst, and wonderfully multi-layered characters that you can't help but fall for.
He needed someone to revive his faith just as desperately as I did.
Because looking at him? I suddenly knew he had none of it.
That something had gone dim inside him.
That was the thing about chances.
We didn’t know their outcomes.
If we’d succeed or if we’d fail. It didn’t matter. I had to take a chance on him.

Rynna and Rex are two sides of different coins. Both hurt by their pasts, one is willing the hurt again for a chance at something beautiful, while the other has closed himself from everything for protection.

Years ago, Rynna ran away from the town that she grew up in and the only family she had in the only way she could think to survive. The cruel memories of her past have kept her away, until the passing of her beloved grandmother bring her back and right next door to Rex Gunner.
Damn her for weaseling her way in and making herself a place in a spot where she knew she would never stay. Fuck me for wanting it.

Rex Gunner needs the complication of a beautiful woman like a hole in his head. Done with the hurt that females could bring to his life, the only female that he devotes himself to is his adorable daughter. But when his beautiful neighbor sets her sights on him, he realizes that she sees beneath the brusque and cold man to the wounded one beneath that's yearning for the right woman to make him believe again.

Rex is borderline hostile to Rynna when he first meets her. Slowly but surely, Rynna works herself deeper and deeper under his skin, where he wants her least. But with every beautiful and thoughtful word to his daughter, with her ability to brush his coldness off, Rex begins to see just how different Rynna really is.
Last two times I touched you nearly ruined me. Seeing you like this? Don’t think I’m ever going to be the same. Stealing my sleep. Stealing my breath. Stealing my sanity. Little thief.”

The romance is perfectly paced, with flashbacks to Ryan's past that slowly unveils the reasons for her running. There's an intriguing element of suspense that keep you turning the pages as urgently as the romance does. I was immediately captivated from the very first chapter and it didn't let up until the last page.

I loved watching Rex slowly melt from gruff and grumpy to hesitantly admitting his feelings for Rynna. I loved getting glimpses of Ryan's past and understanding what she's gone through. It made me respect that woman that she is today. The woman that isn't afraid to take a risk, a chance on a man that shows her every reason not to. She wasn't pushy, but had this understated strength to her that I couldn't help but love.

I adored Rex's little girl. She was one of the highlights of this story for me. I adored Rex and Rynna together. I loved the back and forth between them in the beginning, the slow burn and the ultimate implosion. It was absolutely sizzling.

And when everything unravels at the end? Mind blowing!

I'm totally hooked on this series and I already can't wait for more. After meeting Rex's friends, Oliver and Matt, I'm already needing their stories.

The fact that he forgot to mention to the heroine that

And what about this? Does that means what I think it means? I think so and since it wasn't comfirmed if he did or didn’t so I'll take it how I read it. He also let the wife stayed in his house and this happened =>

What would you do if a man who ignites your body on fire, constantly scowled at you with sheer anger in his eyes, slams a door in your face, and bolts at your mere touch? Give up? Or pull up your big girl panties and boldly go back and stand your ground?

These flawed, scarred characters and their push/pull relationship pulled me in right from the jump and had me burning through the pages.

I fell in love with Rex. He is the brooding, extremely sexy, alpha male type. He is also a single father, whose complete love and devotion for his little girl, left me in a melted puddle of goo.

Rynna is sweet, but gutsy. Rex wants nothing to do with her, but consequences be darned, she goes after the man who has captured her heart!

This is a second chance goody that is also written with a dual POV. 1946420042 Show Me the Way is now live!!!!

“I just finished Show Me the Way...truly the best book I think I ever read!” – Kelli Jo Wright – Once Upon a Book Blog
1946420042 The phenomenally talented A.L. Jackson once again delivers an emotionally charged page-turner that completely wrecked me!

Her unique writing style and remarkable ability at story telling is above reproach. A flawless story filled with damaged and imperfect characters, Show Me the Way captivates readers with intensity, longing, anguish, and an unspoken motivation that defies all odds.

I have not been able to think of anything else since I've finished this book. The story is raw. It's unwavering. And it's profoundly deep, exuding a bottomless well of emotions. Completely intoxicating, this book is beyond comparison, and absolutely one of the bests books I've ever read!

Show Me the Way has set the bar to an astounding, insurmountable level in the Fight for Me series. If the upcoming books in this new series are anywhere close to how ridiculously stunning Show Me the Way is, then the series will for sure be an out-of-this-world experience readers will never forget.
