No navigation e.g. Table of contents or Index. (Certainly no major Index as in Penguin editions). Text starts abruptly and ends abruptly. Subsections go up to circa 400 omitting those up to 900+. Large print with much empty paper. Appears that printer did not understand this book (presumably non English speaker)and lost massive sections in the cut and paste.UNFORTUNATELY HAS PUT IT'S NAME ONTO THIS ITEM!!(on back page) Kindle-editie, Hardcover, Paperback I am quite at a loss to understand what is going on here.None of the numerous stars would fit my experience of this so called book. Those giving five stars must have a different publication, as they mention many vital sections than appear in my Kindle edition. It seems that than half of the pages have not been copied, and it is quite impossible to search for any particular word. After years of praise for Kindle books, this is the first time that I cannot award than one star. Kindle-editie, Hardcover, Paperback What I wanted was the latest edition of Roget, not a reprint of the very first, 19th century one! There's no mention of this in the product description. I've sent it back, and ordered the 8th edition, which seems to be the latest. Please be warned! This book is only of interest to language historians who'd like to see which words were commonplace all those years ago. Kindle-editie, Hardcover, Paperback After reading the reviews, which I wrongly assumed to be of the Kindle version, I decided to buy a paper version my Kindle has recently died, my previous RT is disintegrating from the years of handling. While what arrived today might be a book, it is absolutely useless as a means of obtaining knowledge. No index for a start. How to search? Then it appears as if this particular book is only part one of a series, as it goes to CLASS IV, SECTION 1, 450 Intellect N, & then stops halfway through the paragraph., what is the meaning of this publication? Please, do not treat us this way. Kindle-editie, Hardcover, Paperback This hardback version is a wholesale update of the classic version which is centuries old and wasn't as useful in today's pattern of English usage. Picking this up the library, I immediately noticed that the selection of words was different in each of the sections they seemed relevant and modern , and on comparing I found this to be indeed the case. Another improvement is that the section headings are also numbered differently to the classic version thereby indicating deeper structural changes. With these changes, it is misleading to call this just Roget's thesaurus. It's a shame because many will miss out on this penguin reworking thinking it is the old version but with a new cover. Also, the hardback version is sturdy and aesthetically made, which did make me want to use it .Note that the kindle version sold here is an older and inferior version and is not the same as this hardback version.
