I bought this as a light hearted gift for my Mum's birthday. Firstly, it is most definitely not a flippant book in the same style as the parody Ladybird and Famous Five books that have appeared recently, which I perhaps foolishly assumed it was. The book offers some practical but pretty obvious advice on how to occupy oneself once retired (volunteering, gardening etc) and didn't strike me as being particularly imaginative with regards to this. It then gets progressively darker and starts talking about things like carers, choosing nursing homes and eventually death! I am pretty sure I remember seeing the word euthanasia but I didn't linger on that chapter. Practical but not entertaining, so buyer beware. (Luckily my Mum saw the funny side).
