Review
By Larry Sells
Steph Young wrote a fantasticating book about bigfoot, mothman, gargoyles, werewolves or were-man, hell hounds, goatman, skinwalkers, and shifter. She even wrote about a few I never heard about.
She illustrated she did her research by getting personal accounts from modern time, and, add from 1700’s, and 1800’s. I am impressed by the depth of information she had on each creature even on the ones which well known.
I found Monstrous Creatures interesting and well researched and interesting. It’s a great read and I recommend it.

PREDATORS IN THE WOODS. True Stories.
The woods can be tranquil and enchanting, yet there are moments when everything goes quiet and time seems to stop, and the hairs on the back of your neck start to stand up, and you could swear there’s something out there in the trees, just watching you.
Suddenly everything goes quiet and that’s when the fear sets in as a strange buzzing seems to fill your ears, and your eyes are searching everywhere for a hidden predator.
A powerful, menacing and sinister force is nearby and you can sense the imminent danger.
Then it shows itself. And that’s when the panic sets in....
Contents include; The Predator Effect; The Stick Men; Shifters; Something on two legs; Things with Wings; A new Sentient Intelligence.
Excerpts; 'Somehow 'something' had got past me without being seen. Then suddenly the quiet was filled with a blood-curdling shriek; it was the most primal of cries I'd ever heard. It seemed human, animal, and spirit; and completely evil. It was hard to pin down; it was ethereal. I tried to shrink to invisibility...'
'She sent a text saying, Something is wrong here. The woods just went dead silent...its odd. She thought it was possible a panther or coyote was approaching. As her eyes roamed the area, she suddenly noticed a strange visual effect that seemed to be moving...'
'The film showed a mysterious black mass of no definite shape. It was moving. It was crawling fast. It moved with speed, faster than any animal.'
'The entity was blurry and any features could not be clearly seen, as though it were masking its true form.'
At first it was jet black. He said that it was walking in a peculiar way; that it made long exaggerated strides...
'They said that it seemed to be moving and that it was in one spot one moment and then instantaneously it would appear in a different spot.'
Terrible sounds were coming out of the forest. I couldn't compare them to anything I've heard before.
It took off running, but not like any human or any animal. It ran with its whole body bending and contorting, extremely fast.
'The moon lit up the figure and she could see that it had the shape of a man, at least seven feet tall, but...

Predators

Interesting & eye opening

First of all, I like how the author gets right into it. The beginning isn't long winded or boring. Many of the accounts are detailed, enlightening, and leave you thinking. The presentation of various entities while intriguing, is actually really short. The book in general is very short and the chapters are easy to breeze through. Other than that it's a solid read. The author doesn't add much, because while a researcher, she's just a stumped as the rest of us.

I compare and contrast the experiences I've had and consider myself blessed. As a firm believer in the otherworld(s)....it's really unfortunate that most people refuse to believe that we're not the only lifeforms walking around; visible and invisible. We'd have a better chance if we were more aware of the world we live in.
Kindle Edition Just ok for me was not really stories but more like news clips of unexplained occurrences Kindle Edition I would give it 5 stars but she repeats stories among her books. Also referenced pics published in the book would be great. Kindle Edition New Creepy Collection of Creatures in the Woods

Another creepy collection of creatures in the woods. Author Stephen Young has published several books of extensively researched stories regarding creatures and the paranormal. This latest collection is a series of strange encounters with things found in the woods from around the world. Some are tales of familiar creatures and others are new. I have read several of Mr. Youth's books and this one maintains the standard of a shorter, fun, creepy read. Worth your time.
Kindle Edition Predators In The Woods takes a sweeping look at a number of eye witness accounts that focus on creatures and entities that seem to see us as prey. Many are true predators, seeking sustenance from flesh. But do others feed on fear or perhaps our very souls?

I have heard Stephanie Young (Stephen is her pen name) on radio shows such as Where Did The Road Go, talking about her research and books. Given they were short, I bought three to read on holiday. Unfortunately, Young is a far superior orator than writer. The stories are interesting, but lack considerable detail. The text seems hurried, and although similar tales are roughly lumped together, they are exactly that, thrown in without explanation or commentary. While this may be under the pretence of letting the reader draw their own conclusions, I suspect it is down to shoddy and hasty construction. There is no finesse or obvious path in the laying out of the encounters.

Overall, the book is not just poorly written but also poorly constructed. There are numerous typos and a complete absence of formatting, making for a hard and unsatisfying reading experience. The price asked does not represent good value for the length and quality of the work. There are many great. good value, well written professional books on the paranormal out there, but this isn't one of them. The stories themselves were just enough to keep it from being my first ever one star review. Kindle Edition
