Plague Unleashed (The Intern Diaries, #2) By D.C. Gomez

D.C. Gomez Ò 9 Summary

Plague

After eight months as Death’s North America Intern, Isis Black is comfortable seeing dead people.

She is used to talking to the souls of the departed and helping Death carry the souls to the afterlife, too. But unfortunately, her intense training is not enough to prepare her for her new challenge: the walking dead.

Zombie-like people, whom have lost all higher-level consciousness, are walking the streets in the small Texas city of Texarkana, where Isis lives and works. Isis, and her teammates, a talking cat and a genius boy, must find the person responsible for this destruction, stop the infestation, and find a cure before every living person turns into a zombie or dies without a soul.

Not only must Isis find a cure for the plague, she must find it in five days—before twenty-thousand people arrive to watch and compete in the math and robotic Bowl Games.

If Isis doesn’t stop the plague in time, everyone who attends the games will contract the virus and spread it across the country.

Can Isis find the culprit, the cure, and save Texarkana and the country from a zombie apocalypse?

In this second book of the captivating series, The Intern Diaries, author D.C. Gomez takes the reader on a fast-paced, exciting journey through the real-life streets of Texarkana

***This is a stand-alone novel, or it can be read in sequence.

Look for the other books in the INTERN DIARIES series and meet the other Horsemen of the Apocalypse: Death, War, and Famine.

Book One: Death’s Intern
Book Three: Forbidden War
Book Four: Unstoppable Famine
Book Five: Judgment Day Plague Unleashed (The Intern Diaries, #2)

As a Texarkana resident, I will never look at the town the same way again. Despite the rather grim sounding title, this is a fun, upbeat tale. Gomez again has Texarkana invaded by supernatural forces. This time, she is joined by the intern from another of the four horsemen of the apocalypse. And this time the threat is zombies, not witches.
Characters from her previous novel again come to her aid. The author’s positive and optimistic outlook is visible in the development of these characters into good and productive people. That seems to be the secret of her writing. In the midst of a zombie apocalypse, the characters draw strength from love and loyalty to each other. That good will triumph over evil is never in doubt. These are not broken people, they are good people who find goodness in the midst of tribulation.
Her incredible imagination gives us a cast of outrageous characters, each more fun than the last. We follow Isis in a non-stop fight to save the city from the vengeance of a scorned employee of Pestilence, Death’s sister. Isis follows false leads as the situation grows increasingly desperate. Eventually, the climax comes as 10,000 people, potential zombies victims, swarm into town for the annual College Bowl. Among the many tools at her disposal, Isis uses a giant dancing robot to get the situation under control.
This is a good read and I highly recommend it. 312 This book is the second in the series (3rd if you count the novella and I do!)
These books just keep getting better! I absolutely love and adore the characters this author has come up with.
You have Isis Black that is Death’s intern. She helps souls to there final place with compassion…. And tons of humor!
Constantine is a 5000 yr old talking cat that is the boss of this lovable group. (Friend and the original employee of Death) He is sassy and no nonsense… teddy bear on the inside… deep down lol
Bob is the Reaper’s cook, mechanic, driver, strong arm, lovable Jack of all trades with connections guy. He was a former homeless veteran that Isis saves in the first book.
Bart is a 12 yr old boy genius and Death is his guardian. Isis treats him like a little brother. Bart is super sweet… cares about everyone…. And knows how to get you anything you need.
These three Are Surround be other characters that compliment them and make a huge different kind of family.
With this book expect action, humor (sometimes dark and twisty lol), family bonding, oh and did I mention they are fighting a zombie apocalypse in this installment!
This book has a little bit of everything! It’s also suitable for most all ages I’d say. No cussing, spice, or graphic violence. Just good fun and adventure. 312 ‘Death’s job is simple: she delivers souls to their final destination’ – Unexpected fun!

Dominican born Texas author D.C. Gomez studied film and television at New York University, served in the US Army, and now enjoys her best-seller status as an author. Her books may be about dark themes, but her infectious humor makes them thoroughly enjoyable. Her short stories have appeared in collections – CUPID WORE DOGTAGS, FIESTA NIGHTS, TIS THE SEASON – and her novels are in series – CHARLIE’S FABLES, THE CAT LADY, ANOTHER WORLD, THE DARE COLLECTION, THE ORDER’S ASSASSIN, THE ELISHA & ELIJA CHRONICLES, and THE INTERN DIARIES, of which PLAGUE UNLEASHED is the second volume.

Gomez tilts attention instantly as she opens this novel – ‘According to some studies, people have more heart attacks and strokes on Mondays than any other day of the week. It seems that the Monday-morning blues are truly dangerous to your health. I agreed with that sentiment, at least today. I usually didn’t have much to complain about in my job. It wasn’t like I needed to punch a clock Monday through Friday, or as if I lived in a cubicle world. I had a unique position: I was Death’s Intern for North America. I might need to explain that a bit, since that sounds like I am an assassin or mercenary of some kind. We, myself and the other interns, are not allowed to kill…’ Rumination alert!

The provided summary hints at the plot; ‘Isis Black has survived eight months as Death’s Intern. But not even all her training could prepared her for the madness of zombies running loose in Texarkana. “I swear, I didn’t do it. It wasn’t me. I did not start the zombie-apocalypse in Texarkana. But I’m planning to find out who did it, before the whole city is taken over by those mindless souls. Too bad the one person that might have the answer is the one being Constantine despises above all else, Death’s Sister, Pestilence. How can one person be so absolutely despicable? Why does she need ten interns all calling her Mistress? She is evil. Pestilence swears she didn’t cause the Plague. I’m blaming her anyway. Now all I need is more time and less five-year-olds trying to eat their teachers’ faces. Scratch that, what I really need is a new job.”

The author continues her investigation of the concept of Death and the interaction between life endings and soul capturing in this ongoing series. She provides a stage for a cast of inimitable characters, both super-natural and strange-natural, whose interactions provide one fine-tuned rollicking tale - the initial adventure of a series that now numbers six volumes! For those who love humorous paranormal fiction, this is a series to explore! Recommended.

✨Plague Unleashed (The Intern Diaries Book 2)
byD. C. Gomez✨

My ratings - 5/5⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

📚The Fascinating characters that you need to find out about and a plot with a lot of space for development convey the story. Paranormal story with characters that are composed with such style that you end up made up for lost time in their every day lives as though you were watching a show on television

📚Characters from her past novel again go to her guide. The creator's positive and hopeful viewpoint is noticeable in the improvement of these characters into great and beneficial individuals. That is by all accounts the mystery of her composition. Amidst a zombie end of the world, the characters draw strength from adoration and steadfastness to one another. That kindness win over evil is never in question. These are not broken individuals, they are acceptable individuals who discover goodness amidst hardship.

📚Her unbelievable creative mind gives us a cast of incredible characters, every better time than the last. We follow Isis in a constant battle to save the city from the retribution of a disdained representative of Pestilence, Death's sister. Isis follows bogus leads as the circumstance becomes progressively frantic. At last, the peak comes as 10,000 individuals, potential zombies casualties, swarm into town for the yearly College Bowl. Among the numerous apparatuses available to her, Isis utilizes a goliath moving robot to get the circumstance leveled out.

📚This is a decent perused and I strongly suggest it.

312 The Review

This novel's unique blend of humor and supernatural mythos was on point. The author did an incredible job of world-building in this narrative, with the small town of Texarkana not only bringing a more intimate setting to the larger-than-life narrative but also becoming quite vast in nature when the grand scale of this storyline comes to fruition.

Yet for me personally, it was the combination of rich character dynamics and deep-rooted mythos that the author crafted that made this story so brilliant. The inclusion of other powerful entities besides Death being expanded upon in this narrative and the inclusion and teases of other supernatural creatures and mythologies made the cohesive nature of the story feel pretty epic. All the while, the author brought some heart and humor to the situation with the cast of characters, for whom they found love and friendship amongst one another that kept them together and fueled their mission to help those affected by these supernatural threats.

The Verdict

Action-packed, captivating, and entertaining, author D.C. Gomez’s “Plague Unleashed” is a must-read paranormal and humorous fantasy novel and a great second novel in The Intern Diaries series! The breathtaking imagery and tension the author layers into the narrative enshrines the mind-blowing mythology the author builds upon from the first book and leaves readers eager for the third book in the series. 312

Zombies, what a blast!!!!!

Texarcana is in a zombie apocalypse. What is causing it?? How can Isis and her family, Constantine, Bartholomew, Bob, Shorty, and Eugene, backed up by Eric and Death, put an end to this. Bart is building a robot to enter in the College Bowl competition. It will be a great help, but how?? Shorty is becoming a valuable asset as the clean up crew. Eugene is on loan from Death's sister, Pestilence. He is a great chemist. Constantine is as good as only a century's old car can be. Bob has taken on cooking for the family as well as being Isis's sidekick. He's great at gluten free cooking. Eric is still their hand to hand combat trainer among other things. Hail, hail the gangs all here. A delightful book. Highly recommended. 312 Book 2 in The Intern Diaries definitely keeps the love for this series growing. I absolutely adore Isis, Bob, Bart and Constantine and the way they work together.

Pestilence is a welcome additon to the insane train and the fact that she is woman power and all her interns are men is fantastic. It adds great friction between her and Death and the whole zombie plague.

Speaking of... ZOMBIES!! Yes, this totally had me at zombies 😂😂 Sometimes I wonder what is wrong with me and my love for the Cray Cray. Maybe I would make a good intern for Death? 🤔🤔🤔

This author's humor is on point with how I am and I absolutely love the laughs between the gruesome. Can't steal my heart better than this 😂😂 I will read whatever D.C. Gomez sends out in the world. 312 Zombie Apocalypse At Its Best

I thoroughly enjoyed reading Plague Unleashed. I did not read the first book in the series but did not feel I missed anything by picking up with book 2. As I am sure book 1 did, book 2 does a great job of bringing to life a mix of folklore and different cultural beliefs about spiritual things in a way that makes it all believable. I love how DC Gomez has made Death an entity that works from a place of caring and those working for her are compassionate people. With customers like The Devil himself, Death needed non-judgmental types to deliver souls. Her ragtag crew meets the mark. Isis is a badass and doesn't know, which makes her lovable and relatable. I look forward to seeing her grow even more into the gifts being Death's Intern has bestowed on her. Her new little family is such a wonderful hodgepodge of misfits that you want to know more about. For the record, I wouldn't mind having a cat like Constantine. Looking forward to book 3! NOTE: The author did provide me with a copy of this book to provide an unbiased review. 312 This is the 3rd book that I’ve read by the author and consider me a fan. Her signature humor, attention to the detail of her characters, and her stories just make me happy.

This is the second in The Intern Diaries, and Isis still has not read her manual! Granted, she’s been working non-stop since taking on the position of Death’s Intern, but this girl needs some serious downtime. This story starts about eight months into her position as the intern, and Isis, Bartholomew (boy genius), Constantine (talking mob boss cat), and even Bob (security expert) have returned for more “fun” in Texarkana, TX. Maybe fun isn’t the right word since Zombies have descended on the city, and Death isn’t going to be happy if she hears that. All that said, Isis is going to figure this new crisis out using her moxie and her newly acquired talents, thanks to being associated with Death, and save her town if it kills her. And it just might.
312 OMG…LOVE this series! It is hilarious! In book two people are turning into zombies! Isis and her cohorts have to discover the reasons why. Isis is her usual Klutzy self. She attracts trouble everywhere she goes. She cannot even go on a cheesy date without him turning into a zombie~ Pestilence makes an appearance in this book. Eugene is introduced in this book as well! Isis and the gang are after someone who is making people into zombies and they do not know how it is happening. They go through the paces in this one to find out~ Discover how they work around Pestilence’s rules, how they work together to stop those infected and how they hope to capture who is responsible. You will not want to miss this latest installment but be prepared to laugh your way through the book! 312
