People are Seeing Something: a Survey of Lake Monsters in the United States and Canada By Denver Michaels

Hated how the author kept throwing out the title in the book like it’s a catch phrase. Also, not the greatest cryptozoology collection I’ve read in regards to the geographical area. Poorly written. People are Seeing Something: a Survey of Lake Monsters in the United States and Canada Like Denver Michaels, I have always been fascinated with the unknowns lurking in the deep waters, though I didn’t like to think of it while swimming or boating in the Great Lakes. But a kid it was always fun fantasizing about them in the safety of my home.

I love how the author informs about the lake the monsters, the lakes, the terrain, and the people who had the most interesting sitings. He tells the facts and the possibilities of what the creatures could be, while keeping the mystique and leagues alive. I really enjoyed this read about what could be found in the deep lakes of our country and our northern neighbor.
People are Seeing Something: a Survey of Lake Monsters in the United States and Canada I loved this book! Ever since I was a child I have been fascinated by the Loch Ness Monster-is it real? If it is, why haven’t we captured it or been able to generate any real pictures or footage of it? These are the kinds of questions asked by the researcher of this book. Each section of the work takes us to a different region of North America, describing encounters while providing local Indigenous legends and web links when possible to give a dimensional approach. People are Seeing Something: a Survey of Lake Monsters in the United States and Canada This is one of the most interesting and well researched books I've read this year. The author should be commended. People are Seeing Something: a Survey of Lake Monsters in the United States and Canada Definitely Worth Reading!

Those with either just a passing interest or a desire to dig deeper into lake monters will be thrilled with this tome. Extremely in depth & very long (in a good way!), this book certainly drew me in. If you give this book a try, you won't be disappointed! People are Seeing Something: a Survey of Lake Monsters in the United States and Canada

The descriptions are all too common--the eyewitness accounts are remarkably consistent. There are thousands of reports across the United States and Canada by people from every possible background. They can't all be wrong--something is lurking in the water. BUT WHAT? People are Seeing Something: a Survey of Lake Monsters in the United States and Canada

This is an amusing read. while we have Nessi, can you believe that America has not, one, not two. but lots of Lake monsters, Yes we have all heard of Ogopogo, and Champ, but there is also Igopogo,,,
This has to. be read, tongue in cheek, something to make you giggle at and while away a couple of hours on a dreary grey day.. People are Seeing Something: a Survey of Lake Monsters in the United States and Canada I'm sure you've all heard of Nezzie a famous sea monster in Scotland is she real? Does she exist is she even a she? Who know's! But I do believe strongly in the possibilities.

Denver Michaels Composes some of America's most famous cyrptid cases in this book. His work is well written and Presented. With history and stories. And links to some of the cases too.

A really good read for any Cryptozoology Fan. And I look really forward to reading more of his work in the future.

People are Seeing Something: a Survey of Lake Monsters in the United States and Canada A very thorough and expansive journey through the lakes of North America that are supposedly homes to monsters. A factual exploration of cryptozoology with a healthy amount of skepticism included (vs blind faith.) People are Seeing Something: a Survey of Lake Monsters in the United States and Canada I received a free copy of this book through the Goodreads giveaway.

I'll admit, I'm one of those dreadful skeptics, but I did enjoy this book. I love folklore, urban legends, and things like that, so a collection of people's tales about water monsters was right up my alley. I also appreciate that the author did admit when a story was pretty obviously a fake one.

The one downside is that variations on the title are repeated throughout the book in italics. It felt a bit trite and silly, and actually a little distracting. Other than that, it's a well-written and well-researched book that can appeal to both believers and skeptics. People are Seeing Something: a Survey of Lake Monsters in the United States and Canada People are Seeing Something: a Survey of Lake Monsters in the United States and Canada by Denver Michaels is a thought provoking book that explores that question we all have asked, is there something strange living in this lake? The author gives plenty of examples of stories of various sightings from Native people to present day. Especially interesting is his take on the story of tunnels that connect lakes. Highly interesting and informative, you can take what you want from this book and leave the rest. Whether you believe in this kind of thing or not, or if you are an avid fan of Nessie, you can find a lot to read about in this book. Lots of lake monsters to go around, Michaels covers a lot of territory here and keeps you interested. Highly recommend.
