Pathfinder Module: Dawn of the Scarlet Sun By James Jacobs

Dawn of the Scarlet Sun (free at Paizo.com) is a 19 page fantasy adventure for Pathfinder 1.0/D&D 3.5. I used D&D 3.5. It is for fifth level characters, and I did use the six that are included in the module. I soloed this with The FlexTale Adventuring Toolkit (612 pages).

So, this is a town adventure and my characters quickly picked up their quest (catch the murderer). They were advised to question the people in the area where the murders had happened. Ezren convinced the adventuring party that the best place to get leads is the library because they already knew that these murders are connected to temples and religions. At the library he did his research and found two good leads. The first led them to an abandoned evil temple. It was occupied by ghouls and the party killed them. Next, they checked out an abandoned shrine. The back door leading in was locked. The rogue unlocked it with his skills, but they were attacked from behind by a large gargoyle. Inside they had to deal with wights and a trap. In the inner sanctum, they found the murderer. At the end of the battle, the murderer was dying and Seelah wanted to capture the murderer. Merisie ignored her and killed the murderer. They explored the place and found some loot and a captured male priest (actually a succubus). The party was clueless. This monster did not hang around, but it did makes its plans. The party got their reward and celebrated at the inn until late in the evening. The succubus got Valeros the fighter alone (she was in human female form this time), and when things got “cozy” later, she killed him. The succubus still wants revenge. Things are going to get ugly. Blood on the Streets

A murderer stalks the streets of Magnimar! The guards are baffled, people huddle in their homes, and whispers spread of death delivered on dark wings. Desperate for aid, the city watch turns to bold adventurers, revealing more of the murders' gruesome details and bringing the heroes in on a daring plan to catch the killer—a plot that makes them a tempting target for the maniac's bloody knife. This dangerous plot sets the heroes on a path fraught with savage creatures, decades-old secrets, and the dark desires of an immortal evil that seeks to pervert a forgotten house of worship. Will they be able to put and end to the slaughter? Or will all of Magnimar drown in the rising tide of blood?

Dawn of the Scarlet Sun is an adventure for 5th-level characters, written for the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game and compatible with the 3.5 edition of the world's oldest RPG. The adventure takes place in the city of Magnimar, detailed in the Pathfinder Campaign Setting: Magnimar, City of Monuments and the starting point of the upcoming Shattered Star Adventure Path, and employs prepainted miniatures from the new Pathfinder Battles: Champions of Evil (Pathfinder Battles) Encounter Pack (sold separately), giving GMs everything they need to bring every encounter to brutal life!
