NIV, Verse Mapping Bible, Leathersoft, Navy Floral, Comfort Print: Find Connections in Scripture Using a Unique 5-Step Process By Kristy Cambron

I was recently invited by Bible Gateway to review NIV, Verse Mapping Bible for Girls, Verse Mapping Bible Study Journal, & NIV, Verse Mapping Bible. I once again enlisted the help of Rose & her mom Rebecca.

REBECCA:

“I had never heard of verse mapping before, but the thought of it intrigued me. I was excited to give the Verse Mapping Bible and the Verse Mapping Bible Study Journal a try!

Honestly, at first I found it a bit daunting. Especially being a mother with two young children at home, currently homeschooling, and wearing a lot of hats. I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to devote the time necessary to get anything out of it. But I’m learning to devote what time I have, some days is definitely more than others. And I’ve chosen to let the Holy Spirit guide me as I try to learn the different translations, frameworks, and historical significance of certain passages in the Bible.

I would definitely recommend this to someone who wants to delve deeper into the Word of God.

As a mother of two young children, I’m always looking for new and inventive ways to make the word of God more interesting, appealing, and easy to apply and understand.

The Verse Mapping Bible For Girls is a great way to do that! Although I feel like it’s a bit old for my nine year old daughter, she finds it interesting to discover different translations, meanings and actions with outcomes for certain verses in the Bible. She also likes the introduction at the beginning of each new book of the Bible. Although I sit and help her through most of it, I think this is definitely a great tool in this version of the Bible that she will be able to grow into for sure!”

ROSE:

I think it’s neat to read a verse, and then read different versions of that same verse. It’s also helpful to have the meanings of certain words there for you to help you! It’s also interesting to think about what’s happening in each verse, to who, and what God is trying to tell us in each part.

I also like that at the beginning of each new book of the Bible it tells us what the book we’re going to be reading is all about. And I also like the areas on each page to take notes!

~°~°~°~°~

I want to express my deep appreciation for both Rebecca & Rose for reviewing these books on my behalf.

characters NIV, Verse Mapping Bible, Leathersoft, Navy Floral, Comfort Print: Find Connections in Scripture Using a Unique 5-Step Process

Go beyond just reading the Bible.

Compare Bible translations, pick out meaningful words, and delve into the true meaning of each verse. The NIV Verse Mapping Bible features everything you need to get started, including detailed instructions, starter verse maps, and prompts. Once you've begun your verse mapping journey, you can use the blank maps to branch out on your own. More than simply reading a verse or Scripture passage, verse mapping means using Bible study tools to research what you've just read in the Bible—to learn more about what God is saying to you and how you can apply his Word to your life today.

In the NIV Verse Mapping Bible, author Kristy Cambron shows you the basics and helps you to discover the joy of verse mapping, allowing you to make this five-step process part of your daily Bible study. Verse mapping will help you learn the historical context, transliteration, translation, connotation, and theological framework of a verse. This unique study technique includes exploring Hebrew and Greek word studies, finding connections in Scripture, comparing Bible translations, and learning as much as you can from your time in God's Word.

Verse mapping involves five steps:

Choose: Select a verse and write it out.

Compare: Record this verse in two or three other Bible translations and underline key words that are the same or different between translations.

Research: Look up the Hebrew or Greek meaning for the underlined words and record it.

Consider: Ask questions of the verse. Imagine what it would be like to have experienced what’s happening. Read the verses surrounding this verse and use other study tools to dig even deeper, if you prefer.

Apply: What is God saying to you? How does this verse relate to your life today?

Features:

8-point print size NIV, Verse Mapping Bible, Leathersoft, Navy Floral, Comfort Print: Find Connections in Scripture Using a Unique 5-Step Process

If you enjoy studying the Bible inductively and researching the Hebrew and Greek origins of the English text, then you should consider adding the NIV Verse Mapping Bible to your collection!

The NIV Verse Mapping Bible is perfect for both beginning and advanced verse mappers because it features:

• 350 partially completed verse maps with pre-selected verses in multiple Bible translations and helpful Hebrew and Greek word studies.
• More than 70 blank verse maps for your own inductive Bible study journey.
• Wide margins with guided lines for note-taking and journaling.

You’ll also find other niceties such as a presentation page, topical index, introduction to the various books of the Bible and a satin ribbon or two (depending on the binding you select).

The main drawback to this Bible is the tiny 8-point font which makes it hard to see in spite of the Comfort Print. Also, the words of Jesus are not printed in red letters if this is important to you.

Aside from the small font, the NIV Verse Mapping Bible is a wonderful product that comes with everything you need to start on your verse mapping journey. If this is an interest of yours, I definitely recommend it to you!

031045462X My Thoughts:

Until recently I’d not heard about the verse mapping way to study the Bible.
I love the idea of a new way of studying.
I love the simplicity of the instructions.
I love the ability that adults as well as elementary age children can use the same system.
I love the ability for families to work together in this Bible study system.

What I dislike about the Bible:

1. I will state the main problem I have with the Bible is the 8 point print size. I can read the Bible pages, but the print size is not large enough. I’d love to have 9 or 10 point choices in this line of Bibles. It helps that the print is a bold dark color. I’d still like larger point size print!
2. No reference verses.
3. Brief explanatory notes at the bottom of the Bible pages.
4. The Bible is strictly organized with the intention of verse mapping. This is good in itself, unless the Bible reader wants more supplementary material.

What I love about the Bible:

1. On the side margin of the pages there are light dotted lines for taking notes. The pages that do not have this is the title pages and the verse mapping work sheets.
2. A four page Topical Index.
3. Key word studies.
4. The Bible is strictly organized with the intention of verse mapping. This is good in itself, unless the Bible reader wants more supplementary material.

The Bible layout reminds me of journaling Bibles.

The adult version and Bible for girls are identical except for the color choices.

Source: I received a complimentary or free hardcopy book of the reviewed sources because I am a member of the Bible Gateway Blogger Grid (BG2). I am not required to write positive reviews. 031045462X I love this as both a book and a product! The cover is amazing; I love the effort the publisher put into it. It's just dang pretty, lol--and quality. And the interspersed worksheets for verse mapping, within the Bible itself, are pretty neat. Of course, one is limited, then, to where the publisher inserted them--you'll want to use a separate journal to be able to verse-map at will.

The most recent NIV translation isn't my favorite, hence the 4* vs. 5*--but this is still incredibly helpful and I'm glad I have/read/used it. 031045462X I've recently heard so much about the verse mapping concept and a chance to preview this NIV Verse Mapping Bible has been a wonderful opportunity to learn more. My minister uses the NIV Bible in his weekly sermons so this Bible is the perfect tool to enhance my worship time. There are wide columns on each page that offer ample space for notes and many of the verses have already been mapped out. Since I am a novice, I appreciate that there is a section at the beginning that explains How to Verse Map and that there are also social media groups to help me along the way. My only negative thought is that the words of Jesus aren't printed in red.

I recommend this NIV Verse Mapping Bible to anyone who wants to use verse mapping as a way to deepen their knowledge of God's Word.

I received a copy from FrontGate Media. There was no obligation for a positive review. These are my own thoughts.

The NIV Verse Mapping Bible for Girls is a unique way for girls age 8+ to explore the Bible using Kristy Cambron’s methodology. In the introduction pages, there is a Verse Mapping 101 section that introduces readers to what verse mapping is as well as helpful study steps.

This hardback Bible has a sturdy, stylish, textured cover that lays flat when open. I like the traditional two-column layout with lined margins for writing notes. For some reason this Mapping Bible doesn’t have an attached satin bookmark like the adult one does.

I love the mapping presentation pages, with shaded and numbered sections to guide the reader through the mapping prompts: Verse, Design, Develop, Actions, and Outcome. This certainly boosts Bible reading to a new level, getting so much more out of Bible study time.

It’s pretty, inspiring, and gives readers the tools they need to gain a better understanding of God’s Word.
