I want more...I need more of the Soul Mates... Mark of the Beast This story, from Sabaan's POV, takes place near the beginning of Secrets... leading up to the point of Peter finding out about what happened between his connection with Xander. Mark of the Beast I liked this, getting to see Sabaan and Nikolas together. Mark of the Beast I did not like this short story. Jourdan Lane only wrote one scene, (granted it was an arousing scene), into an existing chapter that was already previously published. What small elaboration that was provided was irrelevant to the plot, flow of the story, and understanding of the characters Sabaan and Nikolas, in the book Soul Mates: Secrets. It is definitely, for sure, not even remotely necessary to read this short story to get a better understanding of what is going on between the soul mates. I found it a waste of time, effort, and money. As far as emotional and sexual conflict and satisfaction, there was way more satisfaction in the book itself compared to this “sip”. For me, it took away the supernatural desire and magical attraction that the series clearly and strongly possesses. Mark of the Beast I like this story so much because it was a closer look at what Nickolas and Saaban shared. I think what they have is often overlooked in the drama of Nickolas' wolf having found a mate in Peter. Sometimes the dealings with Lucien and Peter take up so much center stage that the fact that Saaban and Nickolas are also in love is buried. So I was happy for this glimpse and hope there is more of their story in the future. Mark of the Beast

Sabaan's got it rough. He's torn between his lover, Nikolas, and his Master vampire, Lucien. Nikolas and Lucien can't seem to agree on anything and Sabaan's stuck right in the middle, trying to keep the peace. When Nikolas hits a jealous streak, Sabaan realizes he needs to put a little more focus on his own relationship and that it just might be impossible to make everyone happy. Mark of the Beast

Excellent Short Story in sync with Book 4 - Sabaan and Nikolas story and views. Nikolas marks his lover Sabaan on the tip of his tail. Mark of the Beast The seventh story set in the Soul Mates series takes place at the same time as Secrets but is seen through Sabaan's POV. The story centers on the relationships between Peter, Lucien, Nikolas and Sabaan.

Peter and Lucien's relationship is suffering because of Lucien's jealousy and the secrets they've been keeping from each other. Nikolas and Lucien are practically at each others throats because of the bond Nikolas and Peter share. Sabaan has been trying to smooth things out but when Nikolas starts to get jealous of Lucien and Sabaan's bond he knows he's got to take action quick before things totally fall apart. Sabaan enlists Peter's help in getting through to their stubborn men but the results of their intervention surprises even them.

This is a short sexy book at only 26 pages and I really enjoyed reading it. It was fun to see some of the events from the last book thru Sabaan's POV. I really love this series and am looking forward to reading the next book, Ascension. Mark of the Beast 4.5 stars

Nikolas is furious with Lucien, as always, and his lover Sabaan is there to try to calm him down. As Lucien's servant, Sabaan understands where the vampire master is coming from but his love for his partner is endless. He hates to see Nikolas and Lucien at odds, because of him and especially because of Peter. As Lucien's partner, and both a vampire and a werewolf, Peter has a unique fate that he is trying desperately to come to terms with. He is still hanging on to his human ideals and beliefs, things that don't belong in the new world of which he has become a part. Complicating matters even more, as Peter's wolf's mate, Nikolas spends a lot of time with Lucien's lover, a fact that creates resentment and jealousy for many.

Mark of the Beast is a phenomenal story set within the Soul Mates universe. It features two of my favorite characters of the series, werewolf Nikolas and his demon lover Sabaan. The interactions between these men and fiery and intense, and the love between them is palpable, even when they are fighting. Nikolas still harbors a lot of jealousy and anger over Sabaan becoming Lucien's servant, an event detailed in the short story Possession within the Spiked anthology. In Mark of the Beast, Nikolas takes action to prove that Sabaan, first and foremost, belongs to him and the result is erotically stunning and deeply moving. As much as Nikolas has fought it throughout the series, he loves deeply, and specifically he loves Sabaan with every part of his being. Any story featuring these two characters is captivating and engrossing, and this is no exception.

Readers not familiar with the Soul Mates series will find this an enjoyable story, but will inevitably be a bit lost. The events of this story overlap with the plot of the fourth novel in the series, Soul Mates: Secrets. Anyone who has read that book will be perfectly situated to thoroughly enjoy this short story, but anyone that hasn't might find that they are missing out a bit on context. Aside from that, this story is a wonderful introduction to the highly detailed world and fascinating characters that Lane has created. I cannot more highly recommend the Soul Mates series, and Mark of the Beast is yet another exceptional addition to the set of interweaving books and stories. Mark of the Beast Every time I read another book in this series I have to rack my brain trying to remember who all the players are. Not to mention, who is fucking who. There is just so much going on!

But this story takes place around the beginning of Secrets and is from Sabaan's POV (which, it would have been nice if I, ya know, read the freaking blurb ahead of time. I was so confused thinking it was Peter *sigh*) Of course, there was sex, lots of good sex. And, drama! I swear, these four never get a break. But since this book is from the same time as Secrets it really isn't any 'new' drama.

Definitely a must read for fans of this series. Mark of the Beast This story is basically scenes from the first 80 pages of Secrets (Soul Mate #4) except told from Sabaan's POV. It wasn't bad, but considering he had a lengthy scene with Peter, much of the story was pretty much all stuff we had read. And it ended before the good stuff that happened in Secrets. I wish this was told from Lucien's POV, he spent a lot of time away from Peter so at least we would have got some other stuff.

I guess if you took out all the stuff we already read, you'd have a story the was just sex, hot sex, but just none the less. Mark of the Beast
