Long, Hot, Witchy Summer (Moonstone Bay, #7) By Amanda M. Lee
Review Long, Hot, Witchy Summer (Moonstone Bay, #7)
Love visiting Moonstone Bay!
This was surprising, intriguing...and a little sad! It was good to gain some insight with Hadley on the relationship dynamic between Galen, Booker, Lilac, and Aurora. The mystery brought the intrigue and a bittersweet resolution, and I really enjoy the way that the quintet is all in for one another. The pop-up parental visit added more to Hadley's backstory, but questions remain regarding the DDA and Galen's reluctance to interact with other shifters. It was good to check in with Lauren again and to see her fighting through her trauma. A fun new element was added with the arrival of Harley; I hope her character makes repeated appearances! Long, Hot, Witchy Summer (Moonstone Bay, #7) Amanda M Lee delivers again!
Moonstone Bay is one of my favorite parts of author Amanda M Lee’s world. And Hadley and Galen are some of my favorite characters. They make a great team, along with their friends - old and new. These are entertaining and fun stories, a great escape. This latest adventure brings family to the forefront - both family by birth and family by choice. I enjoy seeing the relationships grow closer and for Hadley to grow in her confidence, magically and otherwise. Looking forward to the next book in this series - especially can’t wait to see who visits the island next! Long, Hot, Witchy Summer (Moonstone Bay, #7) Loved it!
I’ve been waiting for this confrontation from the first. Now Hadley is dealing with the fallout after her very staid and proper father rushes to the island. So there is Hadley. Struggling to deal with the latest monster disaster as well as her fathers rather antiquated notions as he tries to pressure Hadley back to the mainland.
Galen is a sweetie, but he sure can be a real helicopter boyfriend at times. Booker and Lilac are still navigating their ‘whatever’, and a new acquaintance sets off Hadley’s spidey senses.
Can’t wait to read the next book. Long, Hot, Witchy Summer (Moonstone Bay, #7) Slow starter
Usually I adore this particular series, but this one didn't do as much for me as usual. The MC is more whiney than normal, the plot drags on until about 3/4 of the way in, and the teenaged type angst never resolves, just abruptly stops when the MC essentially stops talking with her father. The previous books ignore a lot about the father, but he could have been developed more in this book, as he was a main portion of the story. At least until he wasn't. The end portion of the book finds the MC deciding she doesn't want to try to control her friends' relationships. Then everyone suddenly starts working on the problem at hand, and poof! Everything is solved. No real character growth, but I am not horribly surprised about that since the author seems to have a quantity over quality mindset. If you, the reader, have no issues with those things, enjoy. Long, Hot, Witchy Summer (Moonstone Bay, #7) I love the Moonstone Bay series and each book keeps getting better. This is my favorite of the series so far. Hadley and the gang are in the process of trying to figure out what kind of monster attacked them on the beach. Hadley's father comes to town after he hears that she was in the hospital after being injured on the beach. I love seeing Lilac and Booker grow closer, even though Liliac is denying anything is going on between them, until the very end of the book and Hadley gets to do an I told you so. It's awesome. There is a new character we get to meet and she is entertaining. I did miss seeing May though in this one, I feel like she can be as pivotal of a character as Wesley. I sat and read this book all in one morning, I could not put it down. It is a definite recommend!! Long, Hot, Witchy Summer (Moonstone Bay, #7)
Life couldn’t be going much better for Hadley Hunter. She’s living the dream on Moonstone Bay with her boyfriend Galen Blackwood, plotting her next move as a witch for hire, and basically basking in happiness.
That all changes when a summer afternoon on the beach turns into a nightmare, an odd creature from the depths of the ocean surfacing and attacking Hadley on the beach. Her friend Lilac, a demon with a few issues, fights it off but it escapes … and becomes a problem for an island that bases its entire economy on tourism.
The all-powerful DDA isn’t happy. Lilac’s hair refuses to stop glowing red. Booker is struggling to help all his friends. Essentially, things turn messy quickly.
On top of that, Hadley’s father drops in out of nowhere and demands she return home. He’s not happy with what he hears about the island and decides it’s too dangerous for her to say. Hadley, of course, has other ideas and is determined to bring her father around to her way of thinking.
Between monsters popping up out of nowhere and her father’s inability to stop freaking out, Hadley has her hands full. The monsters keep popping up in the oddest places, and always their attention is on Hadley.
Monsters are nothing new for Hadley but the ones attacking now seem to be different. It’s up to Moonstone Bay’s newest witch and her motley crew of paranormal colleagues to solve a mystery and save the day. Again.
They just have to survive to do it. Long, Hot, Witchy Summer (Moonstone Bay, #7)
Things just got interesting.
Perry is in town and my hope is that he’ll stay. He’s all Hadley has left of family from the mainland.
Galen has a Shift Convention his mom wants him to attend, but he’s against it and probably happy that he has an excuse not to go (Sea Monsters). It was cool that Aric was mentioned in this book. Aric is a character in one of Lee’s other series. Aric married a mage. Excellent series, btw. (Living Convenant Triology). https://www.amazon.com/Rising-Covenan...
Morgan was a jerk, as usual, but he actually pocketed the jerkiness long enough to act human.
Unfortunately Trouble found Hadley…again, but with a bit of mind power the trouble halted. Then Lilac swooped in with a fire on the water and a burning in her heart. And none of the squad had to sell their soul to save the day. Speaking of, I’d also like to see Harley in future reads.
I’m anxious to read the next book to see how the new Love pans out. Great Hexpectations (A Moonstone Bay Cozy Mystery Book 8) Long, Hot, Witchy Summer (Moonstone Bay, #7) Loved it!
This book was fantastic. I loved it.
In this book there was sea monsters intent on harming Hadley. And if that wasn't enough, Hadley has an unexpected visitor in the form of her father.
Things take a drastic turn when her father decides Moonstone Bay isn't for Hadley and wants to take her back. Will Hadley decide to go back and leave all that she has built? Will she be able to persuade her father she is happy and where she wants to be?
How will this unexpected appearance affect Hadley and Galen relationship?
Lilac is going through some emotional disturbance which Hadley wants to help her with but Lilac refuses her help. Will Hadley discover what is troubling Lilac?
There is so much that happens in this book that I just wanted to finish it all in one go and didn't want to put it down.
I enjoyed the mention of the game Pokemon go as I also play the game and love it.I found Hadley's reaction to it and some of the people in Hadley life's reaction to the game hilarious. I would love to live near Wesley's farm as it has a gym and some pokestops. I would spend all day spinning and taking part in battles lol.
There was mention of the company Charlie Rhodes works for and the possibility of a crossover was mentioned. Harley made an appearance in the book which was enjoyable.I hope she gets her own series.
A very brief mention was made of someone in Boston who Harley has taken an interest in. I can't remember which series she is from but lknow I love it as I love and adore all of Amanda m lee books/series.
Long, Hot, Witchy Summer (Moonstone Bay, #7) Hadley is back in the thick of it..
.. when what she can only describe as a mini-Godzilla comes waltzing out of the sea and heads straight for her. Lilac manages to see off the creature but Hadley is injured and whisked off to hospital by Galen.
She recovers enough to go home with the help of Aurora's magic lotion, however, the Doctor has a surprise for Hadley.. he's used her emergency contacts and her non-magical father, Perry, is on his way to take her back to the mainland.
Can Hadley still manage to discover the truth about the mini-Godzilla while dealing with dear, old dad who just wants her to come back home and leave the magic of Moonstone Bay forever? Can Perry cope as the magic swirls around him? Or when Wesley and he meet again for the first time since Hadley's mother died and he stopped him from meeting his granddaughter? Sparks are flying but it's not always and thing!!
Long, Hot, Witchy Summer (Moonstone Bay, #7) okay book in the series, though still missed something
This was an okay book. Nothing special, but not horrible either. I gave it three stars because it wasn’t horrible, not because it was good. Truthfully it probably only deserved one or two, but since it seemed as if some small thought was put into it unlike many of her other series as of late, I gave three.
The plot had few interesting ideas, but it never fully pulled things off either. It was like the plot concept was thought up, then a list of characters the author wanted to include were sprinkled through it. Yet the plot was never fully fleshed out, and kept in its infancy stage. The same with the characters, the author obviously wanted to include certain ones, like the father, and bring in Lauren. Yet couldn’t come up with a good way to do that, so went with the easiest but lamest approach.
The constant BS of the DDA is getting old as well. Just get it over with instead of the constant hinting about them, or the fact that at some point Hadley may become one of their strongest opponents due to owning the lighthouse property and her grandfather’s farm.
Similar constant harping when it comes to Hadley and Galen constantly worrying about each other. Oh gosh, you are putting yourself in danger. You are going to lose your job as the sheriff because our relationship. You are going to lose your standing in the pack, because you chose me over a wolf. Your mom will never like me because I’m not a wolf. It’s really old and a new approach needs to be done going forward. The same could be said for the various issues on the island, but nothing is ever addressed at fixing them. Like, the sirens don’t like anyone or allow them into their area. Also, St Pierre is horrible because blah, blah, blah. Boring!
The back and forth relationship of Hadley and her whipped puppy of a boyfriend, is also getting boring. Several times characters make jokes about her not so dulcet tones, and that’s she’s a nosy busybody. But then after, give her a pass because they love her. That’s ridiculous, if you don’t like your friend or loved ones behavior, you tell them, so they can improve themselves. If they can’t then you distance yourself from them. That’s human nature, whether paranormal or regular human. Hadley is a pain in the keister, so why would anyone be drawn to her in the long term. Galen is already doing this with his entire pack and his own mother to a lesser degree, but Hadley gets all sorts of passes and he overlooks her actions, all because he’s getting some. I guarantee she’s not that good in bed, no matter what witch powers she uses to spice it up. It’s an unrealistic and unhealthy relationship and incredibly boring to read anything about.
Lastly, enough with the crossover events. These are books, and we don’t need massive character crossovers to enjoy them, like DC and Marvel attempt in their shows. They have a lot more characters in their universes to pull from yet still try to limit such things so they don’t become stale and redundant. In the comics over the shows and movies, it was limited even more, because otherwise it’s a joke, as is happening here. We had two to four instances, depending on how your count. One, Aric Winters, from the Covenant series, is brought in suddenly as Galen’s cousin, I guess because there are so few wolf shifters in the world. Might as well add the shifter from Mystic Caravan while you are at it then. Two, mention of Chris the leader of the the Legacy Foundation, a monster hunting group that has never knowingly found one, from the Charlie Rhodes series. Third Harley the crossroads demon. She doesn’t seem to have her own series, as of yet, but has recently been brought into all of them. Usually, just as she was in this one, with no rhyme or reason behind her introduction, other then a plot hole needed fixed, and then pulls off her various stupid shenanigans. Fourth, she mentions a certain Boston paranormal she’s watching over, once again referring to the Charlie Rhodes character and series.
Some of these were only references, where Harley was the only character with lines, but either way, it’s laughable as a plot device and character development. Just come up with better characters that stand on their own. Preferably ones that aren’t completely duplicates of characters in other series, and especially not the same two horrible ones that keep being reused as the main two characters for each series. Hadley/Galen, Poet/Kade, Bay/Landon, and most recently Stormy/Hunter and that just naming four, there are more.
Enough with the Pokémon app on the phone. We get it, the author enjoys it. When it’s brought up in so many of her books, it’s get old and stale.
Does the author truly have no new ideas. Good writers have ideas constantly pouring out of them, yet crap authors just pound out the same drivel over and over with small changes and claim that they can write. There is a difference and Amanda M Lee is turning out to be more the latter then former. Long, Hot, Witchy Summer (Moonstone Bay, #7) An outstanding urban fantasy adventure series
An extraordinarily entertaining urban fantasy adventure series. A great cast of characters and an entertaining and fun storyline. Hadley is a young woman who grew up with her lawyer father in Michigan. Never knowing her mother because her mother died after giving birth to her. As an adult she inherits her grandmothers lighthouse and property on a small tropical island. Is is a time in her life when she needs some change. So she goes down to see what is going on with the lighthouse and check it out. She soon finds out that the island is a bit more than it initially appears. Living on the island are many supernatural people including shifters which is vampires sirens cupids and many others. Follow along on Hadley‘s adventure in learning her magic and stopping evil doers when they try they’re evil schemes. A fun and entertaining cast of characters with a bit of snarky attitude in a few as well as a fun group of core characters that meld together to form a team of quasi supernatural heroes.
