Klondike Hero (Alaskan Bride Rush, #1) By Jillian Hart

well I seem to be in the minority here with the reviewers because most give it 4 or 5 stars and halfway through I am at a loss to figure out why. this hero is a total jerk. He is rude and insulting to a girl he does not know and has only met. sadly I have noticed that is a common theme with this author. It seems to be okay for a guy to act like this as long as he decides at the end of the book that he really does love her. He can treat her like dirt as this anti hero is doing because the L word conquers all. too many women have been victims in the name of love JMO
I wont read it again and I wont recommend it. another book for my donation pile Jillian Hart Can't wait to read the rest in this series! Loved how this series started out. Women flocking to an Alaskan town full of eligible bachelors! The lessons learned by both Gage and Karenna are something we can all relate with. Judging those before you truely know them or what has happened to them can be a huge issue with people at times. Despite the fact that both had been burned in the love department they realize the chance that they have before them. Love the storyline of the baby and all the little introductions you get to people in the town. Can't wait to see who's story is next and how it will turnout. Jillian Hart I thought this was a sweet story, though the timeline felt a little rushed to me. As I get older, I find that I'm not as much a fan of 'insta-love' stories as I used to be. That said, I liked how both Karenna and Gabe were able to learn to let go of their respective heartaches and learn to trust in God's plans for them.
There were a few secondary characters that I'm interested to see if they will have their own HEA in Treasure Creek. Jillian Hart Nothing to do with Gold really, leaves a lot unfinished/unsolved with lesser characters-missing friend, Treasure map found, her cousin, how do they pay for everything!, Weather is too nice for Alaska, not set in the Klondike, Sun is up 24 hrs during summer but they act like they are in Settle still
IT does have a simple nice Christian theme, not too push & pretty realistic. Jillian Hart Giving Into Love

Gabe and Karenna had both been hurt by love, the wrong kind of love. How do they find true love, forgiveness, and happiness in the middle of a small town in Alaska among family problems, an ex fiance wanting his bride back, A rush of bachelorettes looking for husbands and seeking their way back to God. Read Jillian Hart

A tiny town full of churchgoing, marriage-minded men? For Karenna Digby, freshly abandoned at the altar, Treasure Creek sounds like a dream come true. Until she's stranded at the ranch of the one bachelor not looking for love. With his past, search-and-rescue tour guide Gage Parker can barely open his heart to the baby nephew he's caring for, let alone his young and pretty new nanny. Until Karenna leads her Klondike hero on the greatest adventure of all: love. Klondike Hero (Alaskan Bride Rush, #1)

Fast read and very funny at times. Kind of wish they had more on if the friend was found at the end but I guess that could be used as a tie-in to the rest of the series. Jillian Hart This book takes insta-love to a whole new level. Jillian Hart Love this book. Can’t wait to read the next one in the series. It’s really cool that each one in the series is written by a different author. Many of them very familiar to the Lovett inspired fans. Although this is a standalone book because it’s the first one in the series, I suggest they be read in order. Jillian Hart When Karenna’s life plans suddenly change after being jilted at the altar, she takes off driving with no destination in mind when she finds herself in a diner in Washington State and reading a magazine article about Treasure Creek, Alaska. She has no plans, no job, and no fiancé. Even her own mother blames her for her fiancé’s abandonment. Life certainly doesn’t seem fair. Treasure Creek sounds like a wonderful place – and the article says it just happens to be full of churchgoing bachelors with marriage on their minds. What does she have to lose? She’s already lost everything. Trying to escape her nightmare, she decides to head to Treasure Creek, hoping it might just become her dream come true. It ends up being a charming, beautiful community with caring, kind people – except for one bachelor, Gage Parker, who definitely does not have marriage on his mind.

When he drives upon a woman in a torn, muddy wedding dress kicking her car, Gage Parker thinks the worst. His conscious won’t let him leave her stranded. But when all his attempts to pawn her off on someone else fail, he is forced to take her to his home that he shares with his grandmother and his baby nephew. While he is less than pleased, his grandmother and nephew immediately connect with Karenna. Before he knows it, he’s offered Karenna the position of nanny to care for his nephew. She gets grandma to rest, gets Matthew to flourish, and gets under his skin. Will he be able to ignore the surfacing feelings that he thought he’d buried for good?

Despite the fact that he makes it abundantly clear that he’s not interested in a relationship -- he obviously doesn’t want to let anyone close again, not even his family -- Karenna finds herself drawn to him. She can see that he holds a tight rein on his emotions and he habitually wears a frown or scowl to prove it. But she sees past all that and knows there’s more to Gage than meets the eye. She finds herself falling in love with his nephew, grandmother, and the town. Can she keep herself from falling in love with Gage? Will she be able to break down the barriers he’s put up to keep the world at bay and find the man he used to be?

Once again, Jillian Hart has given us a sweet, love story that’s a joy to read. She shows us we can’t let past hurts and betrayals rob us of the blessings that God has in store for us. It’s easy to let love and hope vanish from our dreams and even our day-to-day existence – if we let it. Crawling inside ourselves and hiding from our feelings is not the answer. Listening to God and being willing to step out in faith, however, can heal even the most broken hearted. Thank you, Jillian. Your story entertains our minds and warms our hearts.

Jillian Hart Thanks to Jillian for an author copy of this book to read and review.

This book is the start of a 6 book series by Love Inspired with different authors writing each book. Book one Klondike Hero features Karenna who has just been dumped at the alter and Gage
who has been left to look after his baby nephew.
I have loved Alaska and been fascinated by it for many years and one day hope to see it myself so was very happy to read this story. Gage is one of the tour guides in Treasure Creek and the last thing he wants is to find a wife. With the town over run with single women he is becoming more frustrated with women. Karenna ends up as his nanny for his nephew and its interesting see the interaction between the baby and Karenna.
Oh I have to say I also love Gage's grandmother. I cant wait to read the next book in this series. This is a small town that like many are suffering in the economy but with the influx of women is helping to boast the economy.
