Molly Lynch isn’t like any woman I’ve met before. The pretty, ball-busting reporter has a penchant for asking questions that dredge up memories I’d rather keep buried. I answer them, though, because I’m so intrigued by her—a mix of shy and bold, so set in her ways that the slightest change knocks her off kilter. The closer Molly gets to my dark truth, though, the more I try to shift her focus to what I want most—her total surrender to me in the bedroom.
Molly
I finally have the life I’m meant for. Predictable. Boring. Safe. NHL player Kit Carter upsets the stability I crave when he looks at me with his dark eyes, wounded and guarded, but also swirling with desire. I can’t let him figure out who I truly am—driven not by ambition but by anxiety. Unable to let go of my control, even for a second. There’s something about Kit that draws me to him so powerfully it’s no longer a choice, though. I need to give in, even if it costs me everything. Kit (Chicago Blaze, #8)
Oh my goodness but she gets some great covers for the Chicago Blaze Hockey Romace series. I’ve loved every one so far. Up until Anton was my favourite. But the other day I opened my Kindle and saw this book there; I’d forgotten I preordered it, I must admit I sat up and said “oh Mamma!” While I still love Anton, this took over first place. Look at it! Isn’t it just so yummy??? Anyway, onto the book.
Brenda Rothert is an autobuy author. I’m pretty sure I own and have read her entire back list, some books more than others. So I would have bought this book anyway – but as one who has bought books based on the cover…. No! I’m talking about the book itself now. Focus.
Molly, our heroine, is an investigative report who is pretty much married to her job. She a bit compulsive about keeping everything in exact order and as we learn more about her, we understand why. She’s prickly at first but we come to understand why and that makes her ever so much likeable, not that I don’t like a prickly heroine. I do like them. She is assigned to do a weekend living style article on Kit Carter, a hockey player for the Chicago Blaze. Now she is an investigative reporter so her first inclination is to find any dirt. But when she interviews him and others who know him, he comes across as a truly great guy. And since the is a duo POV story, we see that he is indeed an outstanding hero. While he plays, he’s not a player if you know what I mean. He’s a bit on the quiet side but well liked by his fellow team members. The coaches he had while moving up the ranks all praise him and Molly even interviews his sister and is impressed.
As she slowly comes to see he’s the real deal, she develops a growing attraction to him and he to her. I love this book. I love Molly and Kris. It’s nice to catch up with some of the characters from previous books. I would definitely read and love this book even without the cover. If I had one ask, it would be that it be longer and we got to learn more about Molly especially. The book ended a bit abruptly but there is an author note where Brenda acknowledges this and the reason why and tempts us with hope there may be more between these two. It’s not a cliff hanger ending but a happy for now. But because I enjoyed this book so much and Molly and Kit as individuals and as a couple I really hope she comes out with what happens after this one ends.
It's amazing how important her note was to my overall impression of the book is. It’s kind of like she is saying “I know, I know but don’t give up.” I won’t Ms. Rothert. This book is an A read and your note made it A+. And can I just say that cover…….
Kit (Chicago Blaze, #8) Kit is a guy who prefers not to attract any attention to himself. He loves to play the game and enjoys the friendships he has with his teammates in the Chicago Blaze. He is not interested in hooking up with puck bunnies and is more known for the charity work he does. For this reason he has piqued the interest of the local paper as someone of interest to do a special feature on.
Molly is more of a hard hitting reporter but due to staffing issues at the paper she is assigned the task of interviewing Kit Carter. She likes to research as much as she can, she plans to have several different meetings with him and some of the people he knows to get a clear picture of him and which angle she will be taking with her story.
Kit was not expecting Molly to be so intriguing. She seems to have the ability to pull things out of him that he hasn’t spoken of for a long time. He just feels comfortable sharing things with her and wants to know as much about her as she does him. She is fiercely independent and doesn’t like to step out of her comfort zone. Challenge accepted as far as he’s concerned.
Kit’s blatant flirting with Molly is very flattering at first but she soon realises he really wants to date her. After setting a deadline of sorts with him she finally agrees to dinner. Things seem to escalate quite quickly from here and to be honest it did feel a little bit too rushed. It felt like it went against her nature in a way but lust definitely takes over.
Kit has shared so much of himself with Molly but she knows he is holding something back. After being married to a guy who wasn’t honest, she doesn’t think she could ever risk going through that again. If Kit wants to truly be with her he needs to man up and open up.
Another great story in the Chicago Blaze series with plenty of cameos from the previous characters.
Kit (Chicago Blaze, #8) I love a good sports romance—especially when it involves hockey—and Brenda Rothert’s Chicago Blaze series is one of my favorites!
Kit is a mild-mannered, quiet, non-attention seeking player. He’s more than happy letting his teammates take the lead and the glory. He just wants to play the game and be a good team player. Until he’s thrust into the spotlight through a newspaper promo that requires him to be interviewed for an in-depth article. It’s the last thing he wants to do but he’ll do it because that’s just who he is.
Molly has put her heart and soul into her job at the newspaper, and with her eyes on the prize of a promotion, she’s appalled to be assigned to write a “fluff piece” about a hockey player. This is the last thing she’s got time for, but when she meets Kit for the first time, boy do the sparks fly.
But how will Kit and Molly make things work for them—AFTER the article is finished, because Molly wouldn’t do something improper like date her source—once Kit realizes that Molly’s not going to be satisfied with his usual answers and lack of depth in his responses. Will the truth set them both free, or will keeping the secret prove to be a hard line when it comes to falling in love?
I so loved the kickstart to Kit and Molly’s romance. Loved how Molly stood her ground, loved how Kit waited her out. Because once they got together, their romance was magic. Until it wasn’t.
And that’s a bit how I felt too—that something got lost a bit once the truth was revealed. I’d have liked to have seen what happened with the confrontation, liked to have seen some of the fallout. But overall, the romance between Kit and Molly, plus the interactions with all the other Blaze players and their loves really made Kit shine. And the preview for the next one? O.M.G. I can’t wait! ~ Missy, 4 stars Kit (Chicago Blaze, #8) I love this series, and I loved Kit and Molly's story, even though it left me with wanting more. There were so many avenues left to explore in this story, so many questions that were left unanswered for me. I felt that I could've read another 50 -- 100 pages of this book --that would've made me extremely happy because I found the characters and the storyline that good. I wanted more of everything!
Kit's a hockey player for the Chicago Blaze. He's a nice guy with a good reputation; not known as a 'player'. But he's not really looking for a relationship. Kit likes to be in control in the bedroom...but why is that?
Molly is an investigative reporter assigned to do a feature story on a local celebrity for her newspaper. Kit is her assignment, and sparks begin to fly as she spends more time with him. Kit finds Molly's quirky personality and social anxiety endearing, and the two of them are at ease around each other. They click. But Molly has baggage from a past marriage that's left her self esteem a bit shot. And Kit has a troubling secret from his past that's stopping him from trusting anyone who gets too close to him. Can this couple who seem so good together get past the walls that are keeping them from truly connecting?
Very relatable characters, a decent plot, a story that moves very quickly, appearances from characters of previous books, a nice bit of steam--what more could you want? Just more. Just a little bit more (which the author hints may be coming one day) and this would've been a 5 star read!
And only one more book coming in this series (with some of the Best covers...) makes me a bit sad...
4 1/2 stars Kit (Chicago Blaze, #8) not to sound pro-kidnapping or anything but why foreshadow a kidnapping that heavily if you’re not going to actually have a kidnapping plot I’m confused Kit (Chicago Blaze, #8)
What do I read on a lazy Sunday afternoon? An amazing 5 star story by Brenda Rothert. I read it all in an afternoon. It’s that amazing.
Kit is an hockey player and Molly is a journalist who needs to write a piece on him. She’s straight forward and very professional. But can she resist Kit’s charms?
I love this series very much. It’s a sports romance but with all the feels. It’s addicting and captivating. Beautifully written with a storyline that had me hooked. Bottomline this is a must read.
This story is part of a series but can be safely read as a standalone. I would recommend to read them all because they are all so amazing. Told in a dual POV with an HEA. I strongly recommend this story. Kit (Chicago Blaze, #8) Kit by Brenda Rothert is the story of NHLer Kit Carter and newspaper reporter Molly Lynch.
Kit and Molly meet as she does a story about him and the reader can instantly feel the connection these two have.
Kit is such a wonderful character; and it truly was so wonderful to read about a man who loves hockey, gives back to the community, and isn't a dick to a woman. He just a good day making his way through life. Though Kit has a past that comes into play (one I wish the reader did get a bit more of) it does not make him a jerk.
Thank you to the author for writing a wounded not perfect male lead; Kit was so wonderfully imperfect.
Kit and Molly fit so well together; they truly care about each other and support each other.
I adored how the theme here was neither Molly or Kit wanting to fix each other. They come together accepting each other and simply wanting to make the other happy.
Molly's Gram was awesome and the way her dog Mr. Darcy played into the story was epic!
Though this book is part of Rothert's Chicago Blaze series it is easily read standalone.
For lovers of the series yes many of the prior heroes, Kit's teammates' play are around!
I am very excited for the team owner Olivier next in you guessed it Olivier!
Rothert did a wonderful job with the characters in this story, I do feel I have to add that with a good content editor this could have been a 5 star read...
When I closed the book these characters continued to run through my head... but it just felt well not complete..... or maybe rushed at the end.
Grab your copy https://amzn.to/3ots8us Kit (Chicago Blaze, #8) You would never think that Molly and Kit would be compatible. Kit is a Chicago hockey player who is outgoing and in the public eye. Molly is a workaholic journalist, doesn’t like the limelight, and is divorced after being married to a super jerk. Even though Molly’s coworkers loved to kid her about being so precise about everything, you could tell they all liked her a lot. I feel her life changed for the better when she was assigned to do a personal story on Kit. You couldn’t help but love Kit and how he helped so many people, especially children in the hospital at Christmas. There are reasons behind that. He also has a secret he never wants to tell Molly. Molly though is so comfortable with Kit and honest. There are a couple of things that broke my heart too. This is a good book that I encourage you to read. I was given a copy and voluntarily wrote a review.
Kit (Chicago Blaze, #8) I can't believe how emotional Brenda Rothert has been able to make each and every one of the stories in her Chicago Blaze series.
In this one, Molly is the reporter who is trying to make her way to the city beat. Of course to do this she is at work at least 12 hours every day. She walks to and from every where she has to go. Takes on every assignment she can grab. She is a workaholic. No time for love and romance. Her grumpy boss assigns her to do a feature on a hockey player. Sports, she doesn't work the sports stories?!
Kit is the quiet but still a force to be reckoned with on the Chicago Blaze team. A bachelor but not a manwhore. He is happy to keep his private life private. He hates to do interviews but he has been chosen to be featured in the special feature section of the newspaper. When he meets with Molly, there is more than to be uncovered than his life story. Molly and Kit are drawn to each other but they must resist until after the story is published. But what Molly uncovers about Kit's life may be a game changer and they must fight those skeletons in the closet to get their happy ending. Kit (Chicago Blaze, #8) 4.5 star Review Kit (Chicago Blaze #8) by Brenda Rothert
From start to finish Brenda Rothert drew me in and had me invested with the story she wove about offensive lineman Kit Carter and Molly Lynch. This is the eighth book in the Chicago Blaze Hockey Romance series and was a good addition to one of my all time favourite hockey series.
Although Kit is not a particularly long book, Ms.Rothert certainly packed quite a punch with this story. When Molly, a local journalist is tasked with writing a story on Kit, neither of them have no idea what is in store for them.
Kit is one of the good guys, but he has his secrets and as Molly digs deeper, he has concerns that his darkest secret will be revealed. However the attraction that sizzles between Kit and Molly is hard to resist and once the story is filed Kit finally convinces Molly to take a chance and go on a date with him.
Molly is such a shy, socially awkward woman who doesn’t feel that she deserves Kit and cannot see where she can fit into his life. However, Kit has fallen hard for Molly and he is determined to show her how good they are together. The banter was witter and I loved how snarky Molly could be on occasion.
This one was also emotional as Kit confronts his past and shares with Molly all that he has been through. I applaud Ms.Rothert for her handling of such a horrendous subject, she handled it with dignity and respect and I applaud her willingness to discuss such subjects. Kit (Chicago Blaze, #8)
