„Don’t tell anyone about what happens in here. Never ever.”
Amelia is desperate: Her new boss is not only cold and arrogant but also dominant and demanding. Apart from that, Robert Hardy looks like a GQ model and she gets goosebumps every time she’s near him.
He has two firm rules for his company. Number one: Never get involved with a female employee. Number two: Never break rule number one.
His charming side seems to be reserved for clients. Nothing Amelia does ever seems to be good enough for him. And with each time she messes something up, with every unwritten law she breaks, she fears she will lose the job she needs so badly.
Until Robert finally starts ordering Amelia in his office. And tells her to close the door. For good reason: Suddenly Robert starts breaking his own rules ... as well as Amelia's heart?

This book was a lockdown challenge by a friend who didn't think I could last until the end...and I made it. I wanted to give nearly all the characters a swift slap upside the head and it left my toes curling for all the wrong reasons. I found them all equally vile for a variety of reasons..my god the whining! I can appreciate why people would read something to escape (especially at the moment) and manly chests and perky breasts are appealing - as are complete bastards apparently, but its just urgh for me. However it wasn't as bad as I expected. In His Office Entertaining office romance. Robert and Amelia have great chemistry and Amelia does her best to please him and not mess anything up. What will happen when Robert starts breaking the office rules for her? Will they find their happily ever after? Fast-paced read with plenty of drama and steam. I liked it. In His Office I’m sorry but I DNF 😞
I don’t often write a poor review, I would rather not leave a review at all, but I wanted to explain
The first half of the story was great HOWEVER
The book is too long, (why?)
When I got to a few years later, I genuinely expected it to be the epilogue! It ended quite well!
My confusion when I started reading it was that there was a typo!! Amelia not Gwen surely?
It totally threw me and I lost interest in the story,
I’m not a fan of second books if it isn’t needed, however, I feel this could have done with one.
I will keep the book ( KU) and hopefully will pick it up again at a later day.
Again I’m sorry for the rating, ( Of 2 stars). The first half of the story had me hooked, it was was just the abrupt “a few years later” that failed. In His Office Potential spoilers, but better safe than sorry. This book is about two selfish and toxic people that act like everyone else is the problem. Some inconsistencies in plot and stated morals of certain characters, one character even gets a name change randomly. Some odd phrasing that doesn't match what is being said, but that's just a grammar complaint. In His Office
In His Office Disappointed
The book started out really interesting and it had it’s romantic and seductive components which make a good romance book enjoyable. But, as I continued to read and found myself two years into the story with out details on how Amelia and Robert were not together, I lost interest in the story. I read through it skipping many pages just to know what happened. At the end I hated Robert for being such a horrible man. The ending should have been more detailed of a happily ever after with their baby. In His Office The 2yr time jump did me in.....the first half of the book not so bad, I was rolling with it.....but that time jump had me jump chapters and pages, because I was getting so frustrated......It threw me for a loop when his campaign manager kissed him on the lips but I thought nothing of it.....I didn't even really register the little half speech he gave about Amy at the very beginning of his announcing him running to be DA...... I skipped through a whole lot because I was just in awe that before the time jump all was going so well, I was invested in Robert & Amy......but then I was like pump the breaks what the what is going on.....I hate the first few chapters after he announced he was running for DA.... I am not one to not finish a book, so I think I picked up when Robert figured out who was blackmailing him. It started to do ok, but then downhill it went again.... The ending felt so rushed, like was the kid his? he just talks to some random man nobody heard about until the last few chapters of the book and then he was ok, like what was the real deal? And what was up with the girlfriend in the BDSM gear, yeah didn't work AT ALL, I cringed when it happened, it felt weird and forced.....it had the potential to be an amazing book, but honestly fell short.... Maybe it was better to give an epilogue after they got together of a few years later instead of the crazy run around with him with his stiff as a board new girlfriend/manager and her with a student.... yeah that story line didn't work for me, did not match the personality of the people who was described in the first half of the book. This was my second Mia Faye book, could possible be my last as this story just did not do it for me, maybe I won't be so quick to throw in the towel.... Maybe i'll try another and have a better outcome....fingers crossed. In His Office Didn't live up to expectations!
This is not an enemies to lovers story as publicized. It's a tough boss/employee become lovers, break-up and eventually get back together again. What makes it so bad is that it seemed like very little of the story was spent on the main characters' time together.
Specifically, you get a bit of how they first meet and she becomes his assistant, and a little bit more of their dynamics at work and how they become a couple. Then suddenly it's two years later and the h and H haven't been together for all that time. You get nothing about their time together after they admit their love for each other, nothing about their break-up or even what they've been doing in the 2 years apart. I mean how long were they together? What caused the break up? What happened to them during the 2 years that have passed? How did each react to the break-up?
Instead, you get chapters and chapters of 2 years later where the H currently running for a political office while in a relationship with his campaign manager and the issues he faces in both; and the h is currently teaching at a local college and having an illicit affair with a student, which is against school policy (of course) and the drama of that relationship, until finally one of the H's issues brings him back into the h's life where eventually the air is cleared and they ultimately get back together. I would have liked to have read more about the relationship between the H and h, their struggles , what caused the break-up and how it affected each of them after.
My other issue is that their personalities/character seems to change between the two years with no insight as to why since we don't know anything about them in those 2 years. He starts out as a smart, driven and focused successful attorney, capable of reading people and assessing their strategies easily, but who is also a bit of an A-hole as he's too demanding of his assistants, (If you work for me your ass is mine and I expect you to be available whenever and where ever I need you.). But 2 years later he seems uncertain, indecisive, distracted, misreads people, and screws up his debate. What happened to the commanding, confident, smart, successful attorney? She was a bit clumsy (tripping and spilling coffee on her boss) but a smart, student graduating from law school. An introvert on the more conservative side, she didn't like partying and playing around...she concentrated on her studies and getting an internship after graduation and passing her bar exam. Two yrs later she's teaching at college and starts an affair with a student even though she knows it's wrong and could jeapordize her job. Though she tries to end it she keeps giving in. What happened to the girl who was able to say no throughout her college years? What...do you lose your scruples when you're older, more mature and supposedly wiser? In truth, these changes did nothing to make these characters endearing or likeable. I didn't really care for either one of them and wasn't invested in their story.
In the end, I was left wanting!
In His Office Overall I liked this book. At first I wasn't a big fan of Robert. Then when him and Amelia started their thing he became likable. Then things changed. A couple years later they both are in new relationships. However, in the end they find their way back to each other. In His Office
