I Know an Old Woman Who Swallowed a Pie By Alison Jackson

I

When the old lady comes for dinner, she brings with her a pie and her appetite, but before she even reaches the table, she swallows the pie whole, then a squash, then an entire bowl of salad and then the turkey, in an amusing Thanksgiving tale I Know an Old Woman Who Swallowed a Pie

My two grandchildren love rhyming books and this is one of the best They laughed and wanted it read over and over, watching the old woman grow larger and larger. 978-0525456452 this book is so much fun it is very clevergreat book to give to a child around thanksgiving time as it talks about all the things that might wind up on your thanksgiving day tableand concludes with the big parade the illustrations are chaotically fun and colorful and the rhyming is entertaining as the story unfolds the only reason i m not giving it five stars isevery page ends withPerhaps she ll die which is of course is the way the poem goes But, i would much preferred the author to say, for example, She swallowed the cider to moisten the pie, the Thanksgiving pie that was really too dryWE DON T KNOW WHYinstead of perhaps she ll die.Other than thatlots of fun 978-0525456452 I love singing stories to my elementary students in music class Over time, the students learn the tunes as well and sing with me They enjoy visuals which is why the thought of musical story time is usually a success for me I own almost all of the There Was an Old Lady stories There are books for each holiday and season The students always become excited when they see one of these books in my hand to read sing together 978-0525456452 I had to borrow this book this year and finally, I ordered it. Thanksgiving is not the same w o it to me and I could not find it at home or in the library My 5 year old kids acted like they had never heard the story before they have heard it since they were 3 years old AGAIN, AGAIN, AGAIN,We made a large card board cut up of her We cut her a stomach and gave her our favorite types of food We put them in sequence first, next, finally, etc We were Thankful to add her to our food discussion.ivr 978-0525456452 This is a great book My 3Perhaps she ll die the author could of used something less grim I don t mind it but for people who do, just know that Perhaps she ll die comes after each and everything she swallows. 978-0525456452
