Hold On to Your Kids: Why Parents Need to Matter More than Peers By Gordon Neufeld

On to Your Kids: Why Parents Need to Matter More than Peers For long time I have been searching for a book to explain the context of parenting. This is a book that explains the circumstances of the modern parenting and encourages a parent to follow its instincts while observing some simple rules and understanding the problem logic. Hold On to Your Kids: Why Parents Need to Matter More than Peers A must read for every parent, I would definitely recommend this book for everyone who has/ or works with kids. Hold On to Your Kids: Why Parents Need to Matter More than Peers My husband bought it and really since he read it he changed his way of thinking. Extrem langweilig. Man kann in wenigen Seiten die Hauptidee schreiben. Ich lese viel und das ist zum ersten mal, dass ich kämpfen musste, das Buch zu Ende zu schaffen Hold On to Your Kids: Why Parents Need to Matter More than Peers A big salute to the author. Hold On to Your Kids: Why Parents Need to Matter More than Peers Cumple con todo lo publicado en la descripción. Hold On to Your Kids: Why Parents Need to Matter More than Peers 2.5 years ago I became a stepmom of a 5 and a 7 year old. As I had no parenting experience, I read a plethora of books on parenting, step parenting, child development and so forth. This book is hands down the most useful of all of the books I've read. The first three parts of the book (until p 179) focus on background and rationale for why parents need to matter than peers. Some of the facts about society, how peer orientation has taken over, and the impacts that it has are scary AF. I found that I wanted to get to section 4: how to hold on to your kids, before I finished section 3, as I wanted to start implementing strategies. So I did that, and it was a good idea. I then went back to read the rest of the book after I had read the latter parts.Parenting can be totally overwhelming, and perhaps even so when the kids you are parenting are not your biological kids, and you haven't had the opportunity to build attachment in the early years. This book has made me a much better parental figure.I had read this book maybe a year and a half ago and gained a lot from it. But over time, with work, health issues, moving, and just overall being on a crazy train, I had forgotten a lot of what I learned. I recently picked up the book again, and am revisiting all of my underlined and starred passages. OMG I am so much better off (we are all better off) when I read a bit of the book at the start of my day. It is now a part of my morning ritual, and I'll also peek at it before the kids get home from school. There are SO MANY GREAT STRATEGIES AND REMINDERS IN THIS BOOK. It really is like a Bible that you can keep coming to over and over again for inspiration, to keep the bigger goals in focus, and to feel less overwhelmed on the crazy train. Choo chooooo.I highly recommend this book. It's a game changer.
