When Scottish Lady Rois Drummond believes her father, The Earl of Brom is about to be accused of treason to the Englishman Sir Griffin Wescott she steps forward and accuses Griffin of compromising her to deflect from the politics. What Rois doesn't think will happen ultimately happens when Griffin offers for her hand, knowing she is a liar and hoping she will speak the truth before the vows. Hmmmm and the plot thickens when Rois sticks her her lie and ends up Griffin's wife.

Rois goes into the marriage believing the worst about her new English husband, but soon realizes that her preconceptions were wrong. Sir Griffin not only is an honorable man, but he may just be the love of her life. Shame that it is that Rois simply can't tell the truth to her husband, but Griffin has secrets of his own. The politics of the time lead to a story filled with suspense, the romance is is passionate and real.

Rois comes off as impetuous and immature at first but evolves into a confident and honorable heroine. Griffin is the dream hero from the first page. He of course has his issues, but her always treats his woman with respect and understanding, even when he know she isn't forthcoming with him.

His Seduction is the 5th book in the epic MacGruder series. With each and every story Diana Cosby just keeps getting better and better. Her characters come alive with her story-telling and the reader becomes attached to each and every one. I highly recommend His Seduction as well as any other book in the MacGruder series.

4 Stars (Brilliant) Diana Cosby His seduction is a Historical Scottish Romance with a passionate love story and a little magic thrown in. I have read all the books in this series and loved them all! The love scenes are so hot it will make you blush, but they are also very sweet. This was a highly anticipated read and it was worth the wait. Did I forget to mention some sexy highlanders are also included and oh yes they are steamy. ; ) We also see the other MacGruder bothers from the previous books which I loved. I can’t get enough of them.
The story takes place in a War torn Scotland. The Scots are battling for their freedom against the English. Griffin is a man of secrets. He is King Edward’s adviser to the Scots but his true loyalty lies to Scotland. He has dedicated his life spying for the cause, under the guise he has helped aid his people. He is content with his lot in life until he meets Rois. They enter into an unwanted marriage but they both find they need each other. She awakens desires and a life he thought he would never have. There is so much working against them. Not only their countries but there is a traitor in their midst. With the help of fairy magic will they find a way to love and survive when all they hold dear is at risk.

Reviewed by Kristin Diana Cosby Historically not a bad read, but I think because its the fifth in a series, and I haven't read any of them, I was a bit confused, it can be read as stand alone, but there wasn't enough introduction and background to build from. You kinda meet the characters from the previous books and its a bit overwhelming and I kept thinking that I wanted to go back and read their stories.

Griffin's character is interesting, it's presented quite well, you feel his emotions and struggle and you understand him a little.

Where as Rois's character is the reason I'm giving this book a lower star rating. We are told she is kind and intelligent, that she is everything any man would want. Yet I didn't see it, she acted on impulse, made lots of mistakes, put them in danger and trouble many times. I found myself judging her. And I got tired of reading about her green eyes the color of Scotland's fields.

And I kinda don't like it when the two main characters are pushed into each other by other forces, natural or supernatural. It's so much stronger when in the end it's their own feelings and decisions that keep them together, even if they made mistakes before they realize it.

Overall, interesting historical read, but the heroine was not portrayed well enough for me to enjoy it more.

This review is for a free copy courtesy of Kensington Books via NetGalley Diana Cosby A lovely romance with two people caught in the middle of a battle between countries. His Seduction was a wonderful highland romance. Great read!

Rois was a strong heroine, though her tendency to impulsiveness tended to get her into a lot of trouble. I liked her and the fact that she didn't back down from anything. But, her aforementioned impulsiveness made me want to shake her. She would get into her head to do something, completely disregarding that is was a stupidly dangerous thing to do. Then, when trouble inevitably came, someone (read: Griffin) would have to get her out. But, I didn't mind too much because she did eventually learn from her mistakes and admitted to them. So, I ended up liking her character.

Griffin was also a great character. He was a perfect hero. Clever, determined, sweet, and always conscious of what was right. I really liked him.

The romance was well done. I appreciated that it developed realistically, beginning with Rois trusting Griffin despite her perception of him as an enemy. They definitely had some sparks flying and they were hot. I thought they were a lovely couple.

The plot moved quickly. I was hooked the entire way through. There was a surprise betrayal at the end that I never saw coming. And the ending was perfect.

His Seduction was a lovely read. If you're looking for a wonderful highland romance, this is your book.

*Thanks to Netgalley and Kensington Books: Zebra for a copy! Diana Cosby This is the fifth book in the series & I had no problem following along at all. Infact what this book did was to inspire me to read the others in this series!

The silly girl in this book stopped a meeting in the castle full of Scots to announce that the Englishman standing before them had taken liberties with her & left her with child. The poor guy had never laid eyes on her before!! In order to have her take back her statement, he says he will marry her. She was only stalling for time so he did not recognize her father as a traitor to England. Low and behold she's completely stuck & ends up his wife.

At this time England & Scotland are at war with each other & the Englishman is actually on the Scots side secretly & now his wife is getting him in trouble! Everyone wants to kill him...

That's only 1/3 of the story and so much more is interwoven. I did find parts taking a long time to get through & I was always waiting for the next thing to happen.

It was a great story, but not very descriptive... some things were described more than others, but I felt like in the character description besides a brief description it fell a little short. The storyline itself was good, and I enjoyed it. It was well worth the read. Diana Cosby

Lord Griffin Westcott, English earl and advisor to Edward I, finds himself in the unenviable position of delivering a message to Andrew de Moray, one of the leaders of the Scottish rebellion under William Wallace. What makes the position especially unenviable is that Griffin, while he is secretly working with the Scots, well, that’s a secret, and at the moment he’s standing in a room packed with half-drunk, very angry Scots who think he’s Longshanks’ toady.

He’s using all his diplomatic skills to keep it cool, even tho the missive he has to deliver is itself incendiary.

Lady Rois (I am not entirely sure how one pronounces this name—should it rhyme with Joyce or Lois? I ended up thinking Joyce, cuz “Lois” sounded sort of like a ham actor doing a bad Asian accent) Drummond is the daughter of the Earl of Brom. Lord Brom is a Scot who not long ago swore fealty to Edward, but who now sits in this room with the rebels. Rois worries that if Griffin sees her father here, he’ll surely inform King Edward. Her da would lose his lands, his title and most likely his life.

Desperate to keep the Sassenach from noticing her father, Rois decides to create a distraction—she rushes up to him and very publicly accuses him of trifling with her and leaving her pregnant.

With tension spinning out of control, Griffin has only a second to defuse the situation, so he offers marriage. Surely this dimwit—whom he’s never seen before—will admit she’s lying, rather than actually marry a hated Englishman. Rois realizes she's caught in her own trap, but she’s not one to back down, so she accepts his proposal. And in Scotland, that’s all it takes. They’re married.

Both of them reckon that her da will sort it all out and get them an annulment. But Lord Brom has other ideas. He knows Griff and trusts him—and he doesn’t trust Lochlan as far as he can throw the man. AND he’s about to go to war with Wallace against the vastly superior English forces. He'd like to see his daughter protected if it comes to it. So married they are and married they’ll stay.

Griff can’t really fight on either side in the upcoming war without either going against the cause he cherishes or “outing” himself as a traitor when he’s much more useful as a spy, so he agrees to keep Rois safe. While William’s forces head off to ambush the Sassenachs at Stirling Bridge, he takes her away from it all. He still reckons that once the battle’s over, Lord Brom will get them that annulment, at least so long as Rois is still a virgin.

Treachery, politics, magic rocks, fairy grandmothers, and oh, yeah, unreleased sexual tension is what drives the story for the rest of the book. This one isn’t quite as compelling as I remember the first books in the series being, but it’s a decent read.

While Cosby weaves the story around historical events and figures, I’m not sure the culture of the day was quite right (for example, if this gal told a roomful of Scottish nobles she was seduced and pregnant, why on earth would either she or Griffin think Lord Brom would annul the handfast?). On the other hand, Cosby did come up with a reasonable explanation why history records that deMoray was killed at Stirling Bridge, and yet also indicates he was alive after.

And, while the battle itself takes place offstage (darnit) Beverley does get across the reason that battle went pear-shaped for the English. Hugh de Cressingham, a historically vile English toady who was brutal to the Scots and who appears as a villain in the previous book, died at Stirling Bridge. Indeed, the defeat of the superior English forces is attributed in large part to his lousy strategic advice. Perhaps because it shows a side of William Wallace that was vicious and creepy, we don’t get the whole story.

I’ll give this 3.5 stars.
Diana Cosby This was an exceptional book. Didn't know that it was the 5th book in the series but I am wagering that the others are just as good! Diana Cosby Your next action toward me may be your most important

Lord Griffin Westcott may be viewed as being aligned with England but the only thing Lady Rois Drummon sees is danger to her father. To avert harm that may come upon her family she accuses Griffin of compromising her and dang the man steps up to the challenge with one of his own. Finding herself hand fasted to Griffin was not the real plan but one she is stuck with until Rose finds a way out.

Griffin has so many other problems he does not need to be tricked and deceived into a marriage with Rois, but honor this he will if he must. Griffin is a man walking both sides of the feud between England and Scotland with a determination to protect his family at any cost. Rose is always in hot water, forever speaking before she thinks the thought through but with Griffin providing kisses, that only dreams are based upon she has no clear thought whatsoever.

War is coming creating family derision, difficult choices not completely clear will need to be made, and more gossip than truth revealed. There are spies, liars, and men who have deceit that pumps through their heart all vying ego against what is right. Being outnumbered the Scots will always battle own and Griffin comes to realize that Rois may bring as much pleasure as pain when he must decide which path to walk. Evil walks among them and the devil is as close as the breath blown across your cheek. Who do you trust when everyone has an agenda and destiny is your choice to make?

Diana Cosby love for her characters comes through with every word she writes. The reader feels their pain, understands their anguish, and revels in their romance all due to Ms. Cosby’s literary passion Diana Cosby A rash action to save her father from an English hanging finds Lady Rois Drummond hand fasted to the enemy, Sir Griffin Westcott (an ambassador for the throne of England).

Shocked by his circumstances, Griffon can’t believe how his political gamble has him married to the very man's daughter he has formed a secret spying alliance(The Earl of Brom)… an alliance to free Scotland from English tyranny. With his cover in jeopardy, Griffin can’t reveal to his new bride that they are on the same side while he fights to protect her even from her own plans.

Passion flares, tensions rise and the freedom and life of all they hold dear hang in the balance.

This is a suspense filled romantic story, His Seduction will keep you glued to the pages. The romantic tension is thick enough to cut with a knife while the love connection is a slow building and well developed relationship. The characters are genuine creating a special reader- character bond. I especially enjoyed the reappearance of past MacGruders series characters and how they were blended into this story line. With just a touch of paranormal, His Seduction was a wonderfully enchanting read.

Review

Rois and Griffin bewitched me with their witty banter and chemistry, I loved His Seduction it was set in Scotland when William Wallace was fighting for Scottish independence and Edward Long shanks was doing everything in his power to stop it from ever happening.

Rois impulsiveness and leads her into an unexpected and unwanted marriage in the hope it will protect her father from Sir Griffin Westcott, an emissary from Edward Long shanks. Rois is feisty, obstinate and brave and utterly misguided. Whereas Griffin is strong and ultra protective, with hidden secrets that make His Seduction a brilliant read.
