There were a number of similar books about animal heroes but I opted for this one by Clare Balding because it had content and felt like a book that would be read and treasured over the years. It was bought as a gift for a young boy that loves animals and I'm certain he Heroic Animals: 100 Amazing Creatures Great and Small Excellent read which was done in stages as it was very emotional. Sometimes sad other times happy would strongly recommend to all animal lovers. I bought this for my neighbours daughter who was turning 6. She loves all things animals and especially dogs! She loved it and was delighted to see that she had seen a movie about one of the dogs in it. There is a huge amount of stories and pictures in it and it is a Heroic Animals: 100 Amazing Creatures Great and Small Book with a great 'feel good factor!' Clare Balding has so much warmth in her style of writing. Her book is full of real life, short animal stories. I read a story each night in bed, before going to sleep. lovely!
