Forgiving the Enemy (Miracle #2) By Shea Balik

Forgiving

Things in the plot have started happening

I liked that stuff actually happened in this book even though I didn't like the MC's as much in this one as I did in the previous book. Gay and Lesbian, Contemporary, Paranormal 3.25-3.5 stars Gay and Lesbian, Contemporary, Paranormal This series just gets better

I really enjoyed the story between Luca and Jari and can't wait for the others to find their mates. Looking forward to more stories. Gay and Lesbian, Contemporary, Paranormal ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Woah!!
This one gets a bit darker as we find out what was really happening at the colony. In fact I think Harper's story just might break me. I am finding that those that are considered weak are pretty darn tough. Gay and Lesbian, Contemporary, Paranormal Nice but predictable. Gay and Lesbian, Contemporary, Paranormal

I enjoyed this book however, when it came to Jari, I found it to be much more difficult to read. He had went through so much pain in his past, and unfortunately, he walks right into major grief and pain again until he is saved by Lucca. I did love the secondary characters, especially Chadwick and his love for bacon. :) I was highly immersed in the story and the writing was excellent. The ending truly warmed my heart and I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series. Exceptional read. =) Gay and Lesbian, Contemporary, Paranormal There are just those moments sometimes when, I hate to say it, but you're glad someone dies. At least in a book. This has some triggers if anyone reading this series needs to know. Rape, physical and emotional abuse. It's a bad situation. One of those where the alpha thinks he's entitled and uses his 'subjects' as he seems fit. No matter how bad or sadistic it may be. And it doesn't help that once Jari got away from that situation, no one can forgive him for trying to protect his family or for succumbing to things he'd never agree to had he not been threatened. Now he feels like he's the world's worst person because even his own mate doesn't seem to want him. I guess what upset me the most was that it took something really bad happening to Jari to make Lucca, his mate, to start paying attention. And for people to see that his life wasn't sunshine and roses.
It's a hard story, this one. It's so good. Shea has a way of making even the harshest stories turn out to be good but it's one heck of a journey getting there. You may need some tissues with this one. Gay and Lesbian, Contemporary, Paranormal I can not seem to get into this. Perhaps it is that Lucca agrees with everyone that his mate needs to be punished. And that he knows its within rights to have Jari put to death. He understands and is extremely sad but seemed unwilling to stand against it.

I know by skimming a few reviews that I haven't even touched upon the extent of Jari's torment, so Lucca's unwillingness to trust is almost a slap in the face? Lucca doesn't have a big reason for his untrustfullness, besides having to hide who he is... except from his friends.. So that makes me hard to like him... I don't really have sympathy for his problems with trust. I find them mostly unfounded.

So, I'm done at 19% Gay and Lesbian, Contemporary, Paranormal This is only book two of the series but it just keeps getting better and better! I love this extended chosen family and I can't wait to read each and every love story as each mated pair gets their own HEA! Liking the world-building as well... as the shifters build their town the author is building their world block by block with each new pairing! Gay and Lesbian, Contemporary, Paranormal 3.5 STARS

I like the way that book two pretty much starts before the end of book one.

The main characters, Jari and Lucca have already met, but obviously their relationship isn’t all sunshine and roses just yet. In fact, Lucca seems pretty resigned to the fact that Jari might be put to death due to his actions in the first book, and it kinda pissed me off that he was so wishy washy about his pleading for his mate’s life. Lucca never fully redeemed himself in my eyes, but Jari made up for that. I loved Jari. He’s a mouse shifter, just like Nole, but unlike Nole, Jari’s past has broken him rather than made him stronger. There is a lot of talk about the sexual assault that Jari has suffered, so if that is a trigger for anyone, just be aware of that. However, there isn’t any rape during the story’s timeline, it’s all in Jari’s past. I enjoyed the way that Jari changed as he found his place in Miracle and his confidence and personality emerged.

Meanwhile a slew of new characters are introduced as the town of Miracle continues to expand, growing into a mecca for gay shifters. I like the fact that the author made the mice the bad guys, although I’m guessing there will be plenty more bad guys of all different shapes and sizes still to come.

Gay and Lesbian, Contemporary, Paranormal

In a world where everyone was against them, they needed a Miracle. What no one had expected was to find their salvation in an abandoned town that was ready to collapse. Yet, that is exactly what happened when they moved to the town of Miracle, Oregon.

Lucca had always felt trust was something only fools allowed themselves to experience. Since the age of five, he’d learned that not even family could be trusted to keep him safe from the cruel reality of life. That point was driven home when he and his friends were forced to flee their pack for fear of death for no other reason than who they loved.

Jari had lived in hell since he was nineteen years old and he’d been naïve enough to believe his Alpha’s claim they were mates. Now he existed in a world of lies and betrayal that had him trapped and miserable. Just when he thought his life couldn’t get worse, he was caught leading his best friend to his death. A part of him had been glad he hadn’t succeeded and was ready to die for his crime, but life was never that easy, for the man who’d captured him was none other than his real mate.

Can Lucca find a way to trust his mate or will the sins of their pasts keep them from finding their happily ever after? Forgiving the Enemy (Miracle #2)
