A great book, Inca Ice Maiden introduces children to mummies. This particular book is most interesting because the mummy is that of a young teenage girl whose preserved body is found in the Andes. Nothing spectacular about that, except she's found sitting, eyes closed and appears to be sleeping.The book explores what might have happened to her. How did she get up the mountain by herself? What did she eat before her death? And was she a sacrificial victim to the gods?Terrific book even for grown ups, but I find one fault with it. This isn't a book for an eight year old, but for a child age 10 12. I wish the writers would have done a simple man for younger children. I'm sure they'd enjoy it as well.
