I started reading it and enjoyed the first chapter. After that I felt it was on repeat. Most of what the author said I couldn't relate to. The stories had a forced theme on each of them, as if she tried hard to find a correlation to match her point. There was definitely a theme of patriarchal male bashing that after awhile became tedious. We all know that it's there. How about a book on empowerment without trashing men? Isn't that empowerment in itself? I found the book to be conversational in tone, and could feel the author's desire to impart her wisdom to women in hopes of improving their lives. She is not dogmatic, and does not preach. She retells ancient Celtic myths and demystifies them, helping women (and men if they so choose) to apply them in their daily lives. There are meditations and rituals that can be used at the end of each chapter. I learned so much from this book, and have used it as a starting point for studying. She brings up many subjects that can be researched for a in depth discovery.

An excellent read for all the women out there looking for a little support on their way to empowerment. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because of the very boring historical passages relying on inaccurate or incomplete sources, and a few rants against patriarchy which are quite badly put. Skip those passages and you end up with an excellent book that gives you interesting practical exercises to work with. Also, the legends and tale like stories brought up by the author are likely to make you reflect upon yourself and light a spark on your path to reclaiming your personal power.
