Effective strategies addressed, however
1. Not elaborate enough.
2. Other Effective strategies as such were only mentioned in passing. Outcomes of many moves mentioned in the book were left for the reader to deduce, even though the book is obviously addressed to beginners. 3. The author tends to dismiss the great dependency of openings on middle and end games through out the chapters. I chose this rating because it took a game in which most consider boring and truly taught you what it means to actually play the game. This book is an easy guide. The author manages to make the game sound interesting. Chess and checkers have always been my least favorite games. The book goes into algebraic notation which is used to record the game, and strategies for the opening move.
