Butterfly Effect By misscanteloupe
When I started reading this I realised I read it back in 2014 as the story was updated per chapter on AO3. I am a sucker for the student/teacher trope and the Swan Queen fandom has some of the very best on offer. Butterfly Effect is probably one of misscanteloupe's best fics.
It was lovely to go back and revisit this Swan Queen classic.

Themes: I will always love Regina Mills, I have had a crush on this character since 2011, misscanteloupe has captured her spirit perfectly.
5 stars Butterfly Effect A hot college student/teacher relationship? An intellectual ice queen? A hate-to-love motif? Yes to all.
Swan Queen fics really are a great lot, aren't they? More often than not, I enjoy the characterization of Regina and Emma so much and it seems to be consistent across their other fics that make it onto gr.
Regina, the ice queen professor, makes my heart ache and I want her to berate me while wearing her sexy heels. Because that's my kink, apparently.
In general, the story progresses well and excitingly. I took a break once the angst came in, then returned and enjoyed the rest. I'd rate the first portion my favorite at about a 4.5, then the latter closer to 3 stars. I think the fanfic air of it didn't work for a casual reader, The ending could've been stronger. I'm not a fan of the HEA having angst hanging over it, though I think I'm just being sensitive.
Overall, a lovely read. I'll keep an eye out for misscanteloupe and I do hope she'll convert this into an original fic. That could bump this story to 5 stars for me. Butterfly Effect I enjoyed this well enough even though I don't have a clue who most of the side characters are because I don't watch OUAT. This would have been 5 stars but for the last 2 chapters. They felt rushed and much like the writer was just done with this fanfic and wanted it to be over with. Up until this point, she does a great job at pacing out the story between Emma and Regina and she develops their chemistry wonderfully. Misscanteloupe also did an nice job on creating an Ice Queen persona and melting her at a very believable and appropriate pace without making it seem as if she had a personality transplant. Butterfly Effect Sprinkles has a really good review in which she points out, and I agree, that this particular fic might be more suited for a OUAT fan and not so much for someone unfamiliar with the show. (I never did get the appeal of Rumbelle)
This fic is in typical misscanteloupe fashion packed with sexual tension and the build up to Emma and Regina getting together is a nice slow burn. Unlike Kissing Regina Mills and Emma Swan, Professional Cuddler however this book takes on a more serious tone and is definitely not humorous. Although I did laugh when Emma asked a certain someone how to have sex with a woman.
My only complaint, if I can even call it that was Regina saying 'dear' in every other sentence. It was a little too much in this case. Last but not least the ending felt super rushed and I'm guessing the author just wanted to move on from the story. Still a good read but ending with a 3,75* rating, definitely not my favorite.
Butterfly Effect So I barley watch TV or movies, so I have no clue of how good of a fan fiction this is. That said this was good and I wasn't in a situation where I had to google references (not that I noticed them) to understand what was going on.
I liked Emma you get to know how she was raised and what her motivations are but I wish Regina past was explained a bit better, on why/how she became an ice queen.
The ending felt a bit rushed there is a reference to the dean and a conspiracy theory that I feel was put there just so that the bad guy doesn't win (or this is a reference that's beyond me).
Butterfly Effect
In her final year of college, Emma finds she has more to account for than the extra credits she needs in order to graduate. Only... she doesn't expect it to come in the form of her newest instructor, Professor Regina Mills. Complete. AU Swan Queen

Alternate Universe - Student/Teacher Butterfly Effect
Very predictable. The amount of times the word dear was said should be a crime. Butterfly Effect The lack of dedication to the ouat storyline is evident in this particular book. It appears the writer started this story and then quickly lost interest in finishing it. There is no passion in the story and the ending is rushed and unsatisfying. Too bad. I usually enjoy misscanteloupe's stories. Should have passed on this one.
