Jacquelyn Gagne pens a tale melding romance and destiny with contemporary horror and fantasy in BLOOD ROSE. Lianna is a young woman plagued by dreams in which she’s other people, living in other times. Not all of them are pleasant, but all of them literally leave their marks on her. Abandoned by her family and few on friends, she eventually finds solace in the arms of the mysterious Damien, a man carrying a secret of his own: he’s a vampire. Immediately, Lianna is immersed in a world she never knew existed, inhabited by beings once thought to be legendary.

In keeping with the TWILIGHT movies and the TV series TRUE BLOOD, Ms. Gagne downplays the more terrifying aspects of vampirism in favor of the more romanticized angles. Damien is wish-fulfillment personified: handsome, enigmatic, fiercely devoted, and powerful, he appears out of nowhere to sweep Lianna off her feet. A few modifications are made to traditional vampire lore; dispelling certain strengths and weaknesses (transformations, crosses, sunlight etc.), and the mention of a deeper social structure, even a family. Damien, like several other modern vampires, is less like a monster and more like an ordinary person who happens to be gifted with special abilities.

Of particular interest is the inclusion and mention of other supernatural types other than vampires. Indeed, solo-bloodsucker stories seem to be increasingly more of a rarity, as their once-closed off world is expanded to include werewolves, sorcerers, and immortals to name a few. On the one hand, having the vampires vying with so many other beings for attention could potentially end up overcrowding; on the other, it does broaden the horizon, allowing for many possibilities in an ongoing series.

Adhering closely to the current trend of vampire portrayals, BLOOD ROSE is a story that succeeds or fails, depending upon its audience. It is a moving and well-written book, but one that stands among many of a similar vein. 340 Sensational! I was immediately intrigued from the moment I entered into the strange life of Lianna. 340 Blood Rose, by Jacquelynn Gagne
I stepped right inside of this book from the first page and did not return until the last.
Lianna is cursed with nightmares from the time of her childhood to present. However, now the dreams feel real and will not leave her alone. Emotionally, she is exhausted and terrified as her reality seems to be colliding with her nightmares.
What does this mean? Desperate to find answers, she turns to her mysterious best friend. Though Lianna didn't buy into all this hoodoo voodoo, she had to find out the meaning of the dreams before they took over her sanity.
The hidden danger of nightmares and reality begin to pick up speed. Soon she finds herself confiding in Damien, the dark sexy man with secrets of his own, who deliberately placed himself in Lianna's life. Somehow, he seems to turn up whenever she is in danger. What does he know about her? How does he know when she needs him?
This is a must read which I recommend to anyone interested in paranormal, romance, mystery and the underworld.
https://www.smashwords.com/books/view... Renee Robinson 340 I don't really know how to rate this book...
The story kept me interested from beginning to end (though it was not really THE END, this is clearly the first book of a series, or at least a duology).
I had some problems with the writing style, I felt it was too jumbled sometimes. Then, other times, some scenes or sentences expressed emotions very well or very intensely. It was all very... uneven. The editing is lacking. Sometimes I could see where a punctuation mark should be, but wasn't. Yet, I pushed all these things out of my mind as I was reading, because I wanted to know what happens next. To be more precise, I wanted to know when the things disclosed in the blurb will take place... By the way, why is the blurb practically one big spoiler? I mean, it gives all the plot points of this book, and then some, because it hints at things not even mentioned here.
At the end of the book, we still have no idea why Anna had those dreams (except some mysterious and, of course, ambiguous sentences spoken by her dream companion). We don't know why the bad guys were after her - well, the blurb mentions a certain destiny, but here... not a word about that.
And, the thing I really don't understand... why doesn't Anna tell Damien he was in her dreams? There's no reason not to tell him, at least I don't see one. He says he doesn't remember anything before his turning into a vampire... All this is too convenient. Will there be a big reveal in the next book about Damien really being the long-ago lover of the which whose life Anna relived in dreams? But maybe I'm wrong...
I hope the author's style becomes more focused. She has great potential.
I still don't know about the rating. 3.5 stars? 340 I totally enjoyed this book and look forward to more. The main character, although suffering from many ailments, is not a weakling waiting to be devoured. She is powerful and shows more strength with each turn of the page. In addition to a well crafted story, Ms. Gagne presents a love affair on a different level. She weaves a tale where you are aware of the danger and attraction but this by no means a Twilight affair. These are grown men and women dealing with forces beyond their control kicking butt and maybe not even caring about taking names. Hats off to the wonderful writer and I want more. 340

This book was gifted to me for an honest review.
A Different Approach
This book of course was about supernatural beings and the ever popular vampires, but it came at the subject with a different approach. It was quite refreshing. I was reading an eBook version of this story and did not have the blurb available and did not go look for it. I like to start cold and let the book lead me. It wasn’t until pretty far into the book I actually realized that there were even vampires in the book. That was rather refreshing.
The author has a nice style that makes it very easy to read and relate to the characters in the book. I liked the way she tied the drawing of the rose on the napkin to the title of the book. I don’t want to give anything away for future readers, but this is a very well written book that I think supernatural enthusiasts will enjoy. I can’t wait for book two to see where everyone goes from here.
I thank the author for sharing it with me.
I gave this book 5 out of 5 stars.
340 Very good read can not wait until next book 340 I really enjoyed this book. It was a crazy rollercoaster of emotions as the author brings this story to life. Ms. Gagne is not afraid to go there with her characters, describing, in great detail, the violence and pain Anna has to endure. I love the rapid succession and pace of the sentences, giving the feel of being inside the protags mind. the way the thoughts blend with the sentences gives you a clear insight to exactly how fast Annas mind races. its a great read and I anxiously look forward to the next book. 340 Blood Rose is a paranormal romance that caught and held my interest from beginning to end. The characters were fleshed out nicely and were relatable. The love scenes were kind of a tease, but the action (fight) scenes were well described and easy to follow which character was where and doing what.
The chemistry between Damien & Lianna is hot. The spark between them is intense from the beginning. Lianna is a strong feminine character and able to hold her own, which I really liked. Damien is, of course protective, but not overly so. The other characters in the story are just as strongly written as the main characters. The scenery is described in such a way that you get a mental picture of exactly what the character/author is seeing.
Ms. Gagne did a wonderful job with this story and I can't wait to read the next one. 340 I received this book to give an honest review for a blog tour. May contain spoilers.

After reading the blurb it was not really what I was expecting. It was a good read, one that I would recommend to others but I had questions and no answers in this book.

Lianna is a very clumsy girl, who has nightmares! But not your normal run of the mill nightmares! She actually felt pain and got hurt from her nightmares. She lives a normal life that is until she comes across Damien! And then Lianna learns there is a whole other world besides the humans. There are super natural beings who live among the humans, wow right. Well not all is what it seems, you are going to have your bad super naturals and your good ones. Lianna happens to run into both.

Now Lianna is a very independent character, she doesn't like to get close to anyone and likes to take care of herself despite her clumsiness. Her best friend Nessa is very kind and you can take she cares about Lianna and worries about her constantly. Damien is protective over Lianna but not the crazy protective you read in some books. There is a spark between these two characters that is sweet.

My favorite quote said by Lianna to Damien: Now why on Earth would I ever leave you when I've only just found you?

Now with that all being said here are the questions I had and be warned * IT MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS*

1. Lianna does study sessions? That was never brought up until she mention's it to Nessa. I thought she just worked at the restaurant only.

2. How can Lianna love Damien so quickly? She just really met him? I found that a bit unbelievable.

3. Damien says twice he knows who tried to kill her, but yet she is stuck on him lying about going to Florida? I think if someone was after me and my boyfriend or what ever knew, I think I would want some answers as to who the heck they are.

4. What is a ping id? She says it twice and uses the id one three times. Example: The word pinged off my id making me flinch? Umm what?

Overall the book was a good read, and I kept turning the pages to find out what was going to happen next, considering that I did read this book, I will be wanting to read book two as I want to know what happens next with Lianna and Damien. If you like a paranormal book then get your copy. 340
