Very similar to her Tria and Prima except in a historical setting rather than a future dystopian world. Non-con with a pretty fair amount of pain and initial rape. Just like the other books the MC is aroused by it. I'm not sure what it is about these books but I really enjoy them. Fantasy completely - but the man taking complete charge in a setting where that makes sense (the historical and dystopian worlds really suit this sort of endeavor) is very hot to me. This one is shorter (bummer) which is why it lost a star. I very simply wanted more. I would not see this primarily as a romance - it is really more similar to the old bodice rippers where the Scottish Lord stole the lass. She doesn't like that she loves what is done to her - but she cannot hide it. She cannot change it anyway -but here he is very vested in giving her pleasure so it is not one sided at all. The Angel of Sudden Hill is a prisoner of man she's never seen. Virginal Irina has never so much as been alone with a man to say nothing of being bound naked in front of one.
But Bryce de Keive doesn't care. He's heard about the Angel and wants her for his own. So he took her... and now he will teach her what it really means to belong to a man. Angel of Sudden Hill
